Hamilton is the nearest big city to Niagara, and a trip from Hamilton to Niagara Falls is short enough for an evening out and long enough that you would rather not drive home after one. NiagaraFallsLimo.net collects anywhere in the city, from the lower city and the waterfront to the Mountain, Ancaster, Dundas, Waterdown and Stoney Creek, and drives you to the Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Twenty Valley wineries or across the Peace Bridge to Buffalo.
You see a fixed fare in the booker before you pay. This page explains the roads that matter from each part of Hamilton, why the Burlington Skyway is part of some trips and not others, and when the GO train is genuinely the better option.
How far is Hamilton from Niagara Falls?
Downtown Hamilton to the Horseshoe Falls is about 76 km (47 mi), usually 1 h – 1 h 15 off-peak via the Red Hill Valley Parkway and the QEW. Stoney Creek is closer at about 68 km; Ancaster and McMaster are about 91 km. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives it door to door, and its online booker shows your fixed fare.
Those are road-routing distances to Table Rock with no traffic. To Niagara-on-the-Lake it is about 72 km from downtown Hamilton, and to the Peace Bridge at Fort Erie about 99 km. Weekday afternoons and summer weekends add time, but Hamilton has one advantage over Toronto: you start past the worst of the GTA's congestion.
Which road from which part of Hamilton
Hamilton is split by the Niagara Escarpment, which locals call the Mountain, and your pickup decides how the car reaches the QEW.
Lower city and downtown
From downtown and the lower city, the car usually runs east on Main Street or King Street, then takes the Red Hill Valley Parkway north to the QEW. It is the most direct line, about 76 km from the Hamilton GO Centre area.
The Mountain and Ancaster
On the escarpment, the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway (the Linc) runs east to meet the Red Hill Valley Parkway, which drops down the escarpment to the QEW. From Ancaster the route joins Highway 403 briefly, then the Linc and the Red Hill: about 91 km to the Falls.
Stoney Creek and Winona
East Hamilton is the closest pickup of all. Centennial Parkway or Fruitland Road puts you straight onto the QEW, about 68 km and under an hour off-peak from the Falls.
West Hamilton, McMaster, Dundas and Waterdown
From McMaster University and Westdale, the quick line is often Highway 403 north to the QEW in Burlington and then across the Burlington Skyway, about 91 km in all. That is the only Hamilton route that uses the Skyway; the Skyway is the high bridge over the mouth of the harbour, and it is the bottleneck when the QEW is busy. Waterdown and Flamborough clients often go the same way.
Your chauffeur chooses between the Skyway route and the Linc–Red Hill route on the day. Ontario's 511 map shows the same live closures and collisions we watch.

Hamilton pickups that need a word of planning
- Downtown condos and apartment towers: give the building name and entrance in the booker notes, and tell your concierge a car is coming.
- McMaster University: campus roads and residences have limited stopping; agree a specific building entrance or a nearby street corner.
- Hamilton GO Centre and West Harbour GO: if you are connecting from a GO train or bus, add the trip details so the chauffeur meets the right arrival.
- Hospitals and offices: lobby pickups are simple if you name the entrance.
- Waterfront and Bayfront Park: stopping is easier on the nearest street than in the parks themselves.
Hamilton to Niagara Falls by GO train, bus or car
Hamilton has more transit to Niagara than most cities in Ontario, and it is worth knowing about.
GO Transit's Lakeshore West trains to Niagara Falls pass through Hamilton. Confederation GO in east Hamilton, near the QEW and Centennial Parkway, opened in October 2025 and is a stop for the Niagara-bound trains; check the current timetable on GO Transit. The train ends at Niagara Falls GO on Bridge Street, which VIA Rail places about 4 km from the Falls, so you still need a ride from the station.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO train from Confederation or West Harbour | Train time plus getting to the station and about 4 km from Niagara Falls GO | Distance-based GO fare | Carry-on in practice | Light travellers near a station |
| GO bus | Depends on route and connections | Distance-based GO fare | Limited | Budget trips with flexible hours |

When to take the train, and when to book a car
The train is the better choice if you live near Confederation or West Harbour GO, you are one or two people with light bags, your hotel is close to a WEGO bus stop, and you are back before the last convenient train home. It costs a fraction of any car.
A chauffeur is the better choice when:
- You are going wine tasting. The Twenty Valley and Niagara-on-the-Lake are Hamilton's back garden, and a designated driver who never drinks is the point of a Niagara wine tour by limo.
- You are six to twelve people. An SUV or an Executive Sprinter replaces two or three cars.
- You are heading to Buffalo for a game, a concert or a flight, and want the same car on both sides of the bridge.
- You are coming home late from a Fallsview show or a long dinner.
- You have children, car seats or plenty of luggage.
Wine country and the bench towns between Hamilton and the Falls
Driving from Hamilton you pass the wine towns before you reach the Falls. Grimsby, Beamsville, Vineland and Jordan sit just off the QEW below the escarpment, and the wineries of the Twenty Valley and Beamsville Bench are the closest to Hamilton. Further on, the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake cluster around Niagara Stone Road and the Niagara Parkway. Many Hamilton clients book by the hour and stitch a winery lunch, a Falls visit and dinner into one day.
From Hamilton across the border to Buffalo
The Peace Bridge between Fort Erie and Buffalo is about 99 km from downtown Hamilton, a little over an hour and a quarter off-peak, plus whatever the border takes. Cross-border trips are normal service and the chauffeur crosses with you, but every passenger must carry their own valid documents. The Peace Bridge Authority posts bridge information; our Peace Bridge guide and documents for entering the USA explain what to bring. We do not predict crossing times.
Flying in to Hamilton instead
If you are landing at John C. Munro Hamilton International (YHM) on the Mountain at Mount Hope, that trip has its own page: Hamilton airport to Niagara Falls, about 90 km. The airport notes on its transportation page that shuttle and limousine service is not regularly scheduled and must be pre-arranged with the provider, which is exactly how we work.
