Most lists of things to do in Niagara Falls are a pile of tickets. What they rarely say is how far apart the attractions are, which ones sit on the American side, and which close for the winter. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives visitors between all of them, so this hub is organised the way a chauffeur sees the map: by stretch of river, by season, and by which side of the border you are on.
What are the main things to do in Niagara Falls?
The core of Niagara Falls, Ontario is the Table Rock area at the Horseshoe Falls, with Journey Behind the Falls, the boat cruise and the Power Station, plus Clifton Hill and the gorge attractions to the north. NiagaraFallsLimo.net links them by the hour, and crosses to the US side about 2 km away; book in the online booker.
Niagara Parks, the Ontario agency that runs the attractions, restaurants and parkland along the river, manages 56 km of parkland from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Almost everything in this hub sits on or near that ribbon of green, which is why a single car with one driver can do in a day what takes a day and a half with buses and parking lots.
At the brink: Table Rock and the Horseshoe Falls
Start where the water drops. Table Rock Centre stands at the edge of the Horseshoe Falls, and three of the region's best attractions are within a few minutes' walk.
- Journey Behind the Falls: Niagara Parks says you descend 125 ft into 130-year-old tunnels to portals and an observation deck at the foot of the Horseshoe Falls. It is open year-round.
- Niagara Parks Power Station: a century-old generating station with a glass elevator down 180 ft to a 2,200-ft tunnel that ends at the river's edge, and a sound-and-light show at night.
- Niagara City Cruises: the official Niagara Parks boat tour, sailing from the gorge past the American and Bridal Veil Falls into the Horseshoe mist, April to November.
New since 2026, Niagara Takes Flight is a flying-theatre ride on the second floor of the Table Rock Welcome Centre. Upstairs from Table Rock, the Falls Incline Railway lifts walkers up to the Fallsview hotel strip.
The Niagara Gorge, heading north
Drive north along the Niagara Parkway and the river narrows into a gorge with rapids and a whirlpool.

- White Water Walk: an elevator drops 70 m to a quarter-mile boardwalk beside Class 6 rapids. Seasonal, April to November.
- Whirlpool Aero Car: a cable car running since 1916 that crosses the international border four times without leaving Canada, so no passport is needed.
- Niagara Glen and the Botanical Gardens: 4 km of rugged trails down in the gorge, and 99 acres of gardens up top. Parts of the Glen's trails were closed for maintenance in fall 2026.
- Butterfly Conservatory: more than 3,000 butterflies inside the Botanical Gardens, open year-round and a favourite on rainy days.
Above the river, Niagara Falls helicopter tours fly daily from 9 a.m. until sunset, weather permitting.
Clifton Hill, the towers and the casino
Back in town, the commercial side of Niagara Falls is concentrated on two hills.
- Clifton Hill: the "Street of Fun" one block from the Falls, with the Niagara SkyWheel, Niagara Speedway, Ripley's and the Greg Frewin Theatre.
- Skylon Tower: 775 ft above the Falls, with a revolving dining room that turns once an hour; dining reservations include the observation deck.
- Fallsview Casino Resort: gaming, more than 20 dining options and the OLG Stage on the cliff above the Horseshoe Falls. Guests must be 19 or older.
If your evening involves the casino or a show, our Fallsview Casino transportation page explains the entrances and the late-night pickup.
After dark and in winter
The Falls are lit every night of the year. Falls illumination and fireworks covers the schedule: Niagara Parks ran fireworks nightly at 10 p.m. from May 15 to October 12 in 2026, with Queen Victoria Park as the main viewing area. In winter, the Winter Festival of Lights runs from November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027, with displays lit nightly from 5 p.m. to midnight along more than 8 km of the Parkway, Fallsview and Lundy's Lane. Our Niagara Falls night tour puts both into one evening.
Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines and the outlets
North of the gorge the Parkway reaches Queenston and then Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 24–26 km from the Falls.
- Fort George: the Parks Canada War of 1812 site in Niagara-on-the-Lake, with costumed musket and music demonstrations in season.
- Outlet Collection at Niagara: more than 100 outlet brands at 300 Taylor Road, just off the QEW.
- Welland Canals Centre at Lock 3: in St. Catharines, where ocean-going ships rise and fall in the locks. Ship times are set by the Seaway, usually no more than 24 hours ahead.
Most visitors who come this far stay for wine. The wine country hub covers the wineries, icewine and the Shaw Festival.
The American side: Niagara Falls, New York
Across the Rainbow Bridge, the US side has its own state park and its own boat.
- Niagara Falls State Park: established in 1885 and described by the park as America's oldest state park, open 365 days a year, with Goat Island between the American and Horseshoe Falls.
- Maid of the Mist: departs from Prospect Point; the 2026 season ran April 24 to November 8.
- Cave of the Winds: the Hurricane Deck beside the falls on Goat Island, with tickets sold on site only.
- Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino: within walking distance of the US Falls.
- Old Fort Niagara: 18th-century fortifications at the mouth of the river in Youngstown.
- Things to do in Buffalo: Canalside and the waterfront, about 30 km south, open year-round.
Every passenger needs valid documents to cross. Read the border crossing hub and the US entry checklist on what you need to cross into the US before you plan a US-side day.
A note on Marineland
Many older guides still list Marineland. It is closed for good: the park shut to the public in 2024, and its last belugas were moved out in 2026. Do not plan a visit.
Linking them in one day
A practical two-country day, starting at a Fallsview hotel:
- Journey Behind the Falls at opening, before the tunnels fill.
- The cruise or the Power Station tunnel.
- North on the Parkway: the Aero Car or White Water Walk, then lunch.
- Across the Rainbow Bridge for Goat Island and Cave of the Winds.
- Back to Ontario for dinner at the Skylon and the illumination.
That is roughly what our private tour of Niagara Falls does by the hour, adjusted to the season. For more versions, see Niagara Falls itineraries and our longer things to do in Niagara Falls guide.
Getting between attractions: your options
| Way to get around | Time between Table Rock and the Aero Car | Cost note | Bags | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walking and the Falls Incline Railway | Fine around Table Rock; long to the gorge | Incline fare set by Niagara Parks | Daypack | The Table Rock and Fallsview area |
| WEGO bus | Timed stops, transfers at Table Rock | Adult 24-hour pass $16.00 as of 2026 | Daypack | Couples and families on the Canadian side |
| Taxi | Short hops | Metered | Small bags | One-off rides in town |
| Rideshare | Short hops, plus pickup wait | Surge pricing | Small bags | Solo, off-peak |
| Driving yourself | Short drive, then park at each site | Parking at each lot | Your trunk | Travellers with their own car |
| Chauffeur by the hour | Door to door at each site | Fixed fare via the booker | Stays in the car | Families, groups, two-country days |
On a single-site day around Table Rock, walk and use the Incline or a WEGO pass from Niagara Parks; it is the simplest option. A chauffeur by the hour earns its keep when you want the gorge, Niagara-on-the-Lake and the US side in one day, when shopping bags or strollers need somewhere to live, or when a group would otherwise split across taxis. Our hourly chauffeur service explains how the time works.
Who these days suit
Individuals often combine a conference with an afternoon at the Power Station. Couples end at the Skylon for dinner. Families pair the Butterfly Conservatory with Clifton Hill and leave the stroller in the car. Groups of up to 12 travel in a Sprinter; see Niagara Falls with kids.
Book an attractions day in 3 steps
- Choose your start. Your hotel, plus the date and the time you want to begin.
- Pick "By the hour" and a vehicle. The booker shows the fixed fare for the block of time and car you choose.
- Add your party and pay. Passengers, child seats and notes on the sites you want, then pay securely.
Staying overnight? The hotels hub shows where cars stop at each property.
Frequently asked questions
Is Niagara Falls better on the Canadian or the American side?
The Canadian side has the wide panoramic view of both falls and most of the hotels. The American side puts you right beside the water on Goat Island and at the Cave of the Winds. Many visitors do both in one day; see our Canadian side vs American side guide.
Do I need a passport for the Whirlpool Aero Car?
No. Niagara Parks says the Aero Car crosses the international border four times without leaving Canada, so no passport is needed. You do need valid documents for the Maid of the Mist, the State Park or anything else on the New York side.
Which attractions are open in winter?
Journey Behind the Falls, the Niagara Parks Power Station, the Butterfly Conservatory, the Floral Showhouse and Niagara Takes Flight are open year-round. The cruise, Aero Car and White Water Walk are seasonal, April to November. The Falls are illuminated every night of the year.
Is Marineland open?
No. Marineland closed to the public in 2024 and its remaining animals were moved out in 2026. It should not appear in a current Niagara itinerary.
Can a chauffeur drop us at Table Rock?
Yes. The chauffeur drops you near Table Rock Centre and arranges a pickup point and time with you, or waits nearby if you have booked by the hour. Drop-off spots near the brink get busy in summer, so we agree the exact meeting point in advance.
How many attractions can we fit into one day?
Four or five is realistic with a car, fewer with small children. The constraint is queues and timed tickets rather than driving, since most Canadian-side sites are 5 to 15 minutes apart on the Parkway.
Do we need tickets in advance?
Some attractions use timed tickets, including the Niagara City Cruises boats. Cave of the Winds sells tickets on site only. Check each attraction's official page before your visit; our chauffeur builds the day around your ticket times.
