Hotels · attractions · airports · bridges

Door-to-door chauffeured cars between every Fallsview and Clifton Hill hotel, the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, all four Niagara border bridges, Toronto Pearson, Buffalo Niagara, Hamilton and Billy Bishop airports, and the attractions on both sides of the river.

Taking the GO train to Niagara Falls is one of the most sensible ways to make the trip from downtown Toronto, and we say that as NiagaraFallsLimo.net, a company that sells chauffeured cars. The train is comfortable, it runs year-round, and children 12 and under ride GO Transit free. What the timetable does not show is the last leg: the Niagara Falls station sits on Bridge Street in the city's north end, about 4 km from the Falls, with your hotel, winery or theatre still to reach. Like the rest of our Niagara travel guides, it covers every option honestly, then shows where a pre-booked car fits, if it fits at all.

Can you take the GO train to Niagara Falls, and how does it work?

Yes. GO Transit runs trains from Toronto's Union Station to Niagara Falls GO station (4267 Bridge Street) seven days a week, all year. The rail line is about 128 km (80 mi). The station is roughly 4.5 km (2.8 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, so many riders book a NiagaraFallsLimo.net pickup through the online booker, timed to the train.

GO Transit, the regional rail and bus network run by Metrolinx, calls its Niagara service year-round and advertises trips "7 days a week". The weekday and weekend timetables differ, and planned track work can change them, so check the GO Transit Niagara Falls page and the live schedule before you commit to a dinner reservation. The trains run along the Lakeshore West corridor through Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton, then cross the Niagara Peninsula via Grimsby and St. Catharines.

Three practical points are easy to miss:

  • When there is no direct Niagara train, GO publishes a backup: take the Lakeshore West train to Burlington and transfer to GO Bus Route 12, which ends at the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal, across the street from the train station.
  • The station is unstaffed. Buy your ticket, or tap a card or phone where accepted, before you board.
  • Disruptions happen. In spring 2026 a CN freight derailment near St. Catharines stopped GO trains to Niagara for about ten days; service restarted on 10 April 2026.

The four rail and coach options, side by side

Most visitors who search "toronto to niagara falls train" are choosing between four services. They are not interchangeable.

GO Transit train. Commuter-style, double-deck coaches with GO Wi-Fi Plus. Children 12 and under travel free. GO also sells a One-Day Weekend Pass, weekday group passes and GO+WEGO Combo Tickets, which bundle the train with Niagara Parks' WEGO visitor buses; GO lists the daily combo options from $22 round trip (as of 2026).

The Amtrak Maple Leaf. One train a day in each direction between New York Penn Station and Toronto Union, about 12 hours 30 minutes end to end. Its Niagara-area stops are Niagara Falls NY, Niagara Falls ON, St. Catharines and Grimsby, with Aldershot and Oakville closer to Toronto. Amtrak's Maple Leaf page tells riders to pack a passport, because the train crosses the border at Niagara Falls. The Niagara Falls ON stop uses the same Bridge Street building as GO, run by VIA Rail.

FlixBus. FlixBus lists at least 13 Toronto to Niagara Falls trips a day, a minimum trip time of 1 h 30 min over about 125 km, and fares from $20.98 (as of 2026). Toronto stops include the Union Station Bus Terminal at 81 Bay Street and Toronto Pearson Terminal 1, Ground Level, Gate P. In Niagara Falls it stops at Rapidsview (4555 Upper Rapids Road), Table Rock (6690 Niagara River Parkway), Mount Carmel Centre and the Niagara Falls Transit Terminal on Erie Avenue. FlixBus says its ticket includes a free WEGO shuttle from Rapidsview to Table Rock and back.

Megabus. Megabus stops at the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal, 4555 Erie Avenue, and at Rapidsview Transit Station, with Toronto boarding at the Union Station Bus Terminal.

When the train or bus is honestly the better choice

We would rather you take the right trip than the most expensive one. Take GO or a coach when:

  • You are one or two people travelling light from downtown Toronto, and your hotel is near the Falls or Clifton Hill.
  • Your schedule is flexible enough to work around a published departure.
  • You are happy to walk, take a WEGO bus or grab a local taxi for the final few kilometres.

A pre-booked car tends to win when a family needs child seats, when four or more adults would each buy a ticket, when someone is arriving on a late flight into Toronto Pearson, when the plan is a winery day rather than a hotel night, or when the trip continues across a bridge into New York. For a fuller look at the trade-offs, see chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare in Niagara.

Niagara Falls station: what is there and what is not

Niagara Falls GO and VIA share one building at 4267 Bridge Street, near the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge and two blocks from downtown. According to VIA Rail's station page, it is an unstaffed station that opens 30 minutes before a train arrives and closes 30 minutes after it leaves. It has a waiting room, telephones and washrooms, but no lockers, no baggage storage and no checked baggage service. VIA also states that no unaccompanied minors may travel to or from this station.

The entrance, platform and washrooms are wheelchair accessible, there is a wheelchair lift, and VIA asks for 48 hours' notice for lift requests. A service-animal relief area sits near the VIA flag post.

For visitors, the real issue is distance. By road the station is about 4.5 km (2.8 mi) from the Fallsview hotel towers, usually 7–10 minutes; about 3 km (1.9 mi) from Clifton Hill; and about 21 km (13 mi) from Niagara-on-the-Lake's Old Town, usually 25–30 minutes. That is a long walk with a suitcase, and a short, simple pickup. Our train station transfer service tracks the arrival, so a late train moves the pickup rather than leaving you on the platform.

The Whirlpool Rapids Bridge next door is not your way across

The station's neighbour, the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge, is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and is reserved for NEXUS members. Everyone in the vehicle, the driver included, must hold a NEXUS card to use it. Most travellers heading to Niagara Falls, New York, by car use the Rainbow Bridge or the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge instead; our guide to the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge explains the rules, and NEXUS and trusted traveller programs covers who qualifies.

Getting from the station to the Falls without a car

If you choose transit for the last leg, these are your options:

  1. WEGO. Niagara Parks' hop-on, hop-off visitor bus runs year-round. GO suggests the WEGO Green Line (603 northbound) from the station area to the Floral Clock, connecting with the seasonal Orange Line (604) shuttle to Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The WEGO page lists adult passes at $16 for 24 hours and $20 for 48 hours, and child (3–12) passes at $12 and $16, tax included (as of 2026). Children 2 and under ride free.
  2. Niagara Region Transit. The consolidated regional bus system took over the former WEGO Red Line as local route 116/216 in September 2024, and added Sunday and holiday service on regional routes from 6 September 2026.
  3. Taxi. The station page lists a local taxi line, and cabs are metered.
  4. Rideshare. Uber operates in Niagara Falls; availability at a quiet station after a late train is the variable.

One timing warning for Niagara-on-the-Lake: GO notes that the last return WEGO shuttle leaves Fort George at 7 p.m. If you have a Shaw Festival curtain or a winery dinner, plan your ride home before you go.

From Toronto Pearson by rail: two trains and a transfer

Plenty of people try to build a rail route from the airport. It works, with effort:

  • UP Express runs from Pearson to Union Station in 28 minutes, with stops at Weston, Mount Dennis and Bloor. Planned construction occasionally replaces trains with GO buses between Pearson Terminal 1 and the Union Station Bus Terminal, so check alerts.
  • At Union, change to the GO train or a coach for Niagara Falls.
  • At Niagara Falls, make the final connection to your hotel.

That is three vehicles and two transfers with luggage after a long flight. FlixBus's Pearson Terminal 1 stop removes the Union Station step. A chauffeur meeting you in arrivals removes all of them: Pearson to the Falls is about 121 km (75 mi), usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 off-peak. Details are on our Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls page, and our Toronto to Niagara Falls route guide covers pickups from downtown hotels and homes.

Arriving on the US side: Amtrak and Buffalo stations

Travellers from New York State have three stations to think about:

  • Niagara Falls, NY (NFL), 825 Depot Avenue West, a station building with a waiting room. From here to the Fallsview hotels in Ontario is about 5.5 km (3.4 mi), usually 10 minutes plus the time at the border.
  • Buffalo-Exchange Street (BFX), 75 Exchange Street, within walking distance of Niagara Square. To the Canadian Falls it is about 35 km (22 mi), usually 30–40 minutes plus the crossing.
  • Buffalo-Depew (BUF), 55 Dick Road, Depew, about 49 km (30 mi) and usually 45–55 minutes to the Canadian side before the border.

Each passenger needs their own valid documents for the crossing; see documents for entering Canada. Our chauffeur crosses with you as part of normal cross-border car service. We do not promise how long the bridge takes, because nobody honestly can.

How to book a station pickup in 3 steps

  1. Enter the station and the destination. Choose Niagara Falls station, St. Catharines, Grimsby, an Amtrak stop or Union Station, add the date, time and train number, then your hotel, winery or address.
  2. Pick your vehicle. Each class shows its fixed fare before you pay, from a Standard Sedan for up to three passengers to an Executive Sprinter for up to twelve with carry-on bags.
  3. Add the details and pay. Passengers, bags, child or booster seats, meet & greet at the platform, then secure payment and a confirmation by email.

If anything about the booker is unfamiliar, how to book a limo walks through each screen. The cancellation terms are counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%.

Who rail-and-chauffeur suits

  • Individuals who enjoy the train but want a reliable connection at the far end, especially after dark.
  • Couples heading for a Niagara-on-the-Lake inn, where the WEGO shuttle stops early in the evening.
  • Families who come in by train and need car seats for the last 5 km; GO's free fares for children 12 and under make this pairing work well.
  • Groups arriving together, where one Sprinter at the station is simpler than four taxis. Our group transportation page covers larger parties, and families visiting Niagara has more on travelling with children.

Frequently asked questions

Does the GO train go to Niagara Falls?

Yes. GO Transit runs trains from Toronto's Union Station to Niagara Falls GO, 4267 Bridge Street, seven days a week throughout the year, on the Lakeshore West corridor via St. Catharines. When no direct train runs, GO's backup is a Lakeshore West train to Burlington and GO Bus Route 12 to the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal across the street.

How long is the train from Toronto to Niagara Falls?

GO does not publish a single trip time, and it varies by departure and by track work. Plan on roughly two hours of rail time, sometimes a little more, from Union Station, then another 10–20 minutes to reach a Fallsview or Clifton Hill hotel from the station. By road, the same trip is about 129 km (80 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 off-peak.

How far is the Niagara Falls train station from the Falls?

VIA Rail describes the station as 4 km from the Falls and two blocks from downtown. By road it is about 4.5 km (2.8 mi) to the Fallsview hotels and about 3 km (1.9 mi) to Clifton Hill. WEGO buses, local transit, taxis and pre-booked cars cover the gap.

Is there a train from Toronto Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls?

Not directly. Take UP Express to Union Station (28 minutes), then a GO train or coach to Niagara Falls. FlixBus also stops at Pearson Terminal 1, Gate P. A chauffeur from arrivals is about 121 km (75 mi), usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 off-peak, with no transfers.

Can I store luggage at Niagara Falls station?

No. VIA Rail lists no lockers, no baggage storage and no checked baggage at the Niagara Falls station, and the building opens only 30 minutes before a train and closes 30 minutes after. If you arrive before hotel check-in, ask the hotel to hold your bags, or book a car that takes you and your luggage straight there.

Is the bus or the train better from Toronto to Niagara Falls?

FlixBus advertises more daily trips and stops at Table Rock and Rapidsview, close to the attractions; the GO train is roomier, has Wi-Fi and lets children 12 and under ride free. Pick by timetable and where you are staying. Neither solves luggage, car seats or a late evening return.

Can my chauffeur meet me on the train platform?

Meet & greet is a booker option, and train arrivals are tracked, so a late train shifts your pickup time. At an unstaffed station like Niagara Falls, the chauffeur meets you at the station exit or the platform access point and helps with bags to the car.

What happens if my train is cancelled?

Change the pickup through your confirmation as soon as you know. If you switch to GO's Burlington bus connection, the coach ends at the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal across the street, so your chauffeur can meet you there instead. Cancelling more than 72 hours before the scheduled pickup carries no charge.
