Niagara Falls events run all year, but they bunch into seasons: fireworks and boats in summer, harvest and wine festivals in autumn, lights in winter, theatre from spring to Christmas. This calendar, kept by NiagaraFallsLimo.net, lists only dates we confirmed on the organisers' own pages in October 2026. Where an annual event has not yet announced its next dates, we say when it is usually held and point you to the source, rather than guessing.
What events are on in Niagara Falls this season?
From November 2026, Niagara Falls events centre on the Winter Festival of Lights (14 November 2026 to 10 January 2027), the Shaw Festival's holiday shows to 23 December, and Niagara-on-the-Lake winery weekends. Most venues are within 25 km (16 mi) of the Falls; NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives you to each.
Two habits make event trips easier. First, book event-night transport early, because the same evening that fills the restaurants fills the roads. Second, check the organiser's page on the morning of the event: fireworks are always "weather permitting", and seasonal schedules change.

November: wine weekends and the first lights
November is quieter at the Falls and busy in wine country. The Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake run Taste the Season on weekends in November, a self-guided tour in which eight wineries pair harvest-inspired food with their wines; details are on the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake site. Because the tour is self-guided, the honest transport answer is either a designated driver or a chauffeur. Our Niagara wine tour by limo handles the route.

Other November notes:
- The Winery Restaurant at Peller Estates reopens after renovation on 13 November 2026; until then it operates at the Riverbend Inn next door.
- Maid of the Mist finishes its 2026 season on 8 November and stays closed until opening day 2027.
- The Falls illumination starts early in winter, from about 4:30 p.m. in November and December.
The Winter Festival of Lights, 14 November 2026 to 10 January 2027
The Winter Festival of Lights describes itself as Canada's largest free outdoor light festival. For 2026–27 it runs from 14 November to 10 January, with displays lit nightly from 5 p.m. to midnight, including holidays, along more than 8 km of the Niagara Parkway, Fallsview and Lundy's Lane. Entry is free, with donations accepted at Dufferin Islands. Fireworks run at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from November 14, then nightly from December 18 to January 2. The festival's site posts updates.
Inside the Floral Showhouse, Niagara Parks' "Whimsical Creatures" mosaiculture figures become lit displays for the festival.
Because the displays stretch along roads rather than sitting in one spot, the classic way to see them is from a car moving slowly along the route, with a stop or two to walk Dufferin Islands. A chauffeured Falls night tour does exactly that without anyone hunting for parking. More detail is on our Winter Festival of Lights page.
Reserve a Festival of Lights drive
December: theatre, the holidays and New Year's Eve
The Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake ends its 2026 season with two holiday productions running to 23 December: A Year with Frog and Toad at the Court House Theatre, in previews from 5 November, and Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella at the Festival Theatre, in previews from 8 November. The Court House Theatre, newly rebuilt, is where the festival began in 1962. See the Shaw Festival for performance times, and our Shaw Festival page for drop-off at each theatre.
New Year's Eve at the Falls has fireworks too: Clifton Hill's event listing shows displays at 8 p.m. and midnight to ring in 2027, weather permitting. Confirm the programme with Niagara Parks closer to the date. It is one of the busiest nights of the year on the Canadian side, and the ride home after midnight should be booked well in advance.
At Fallsview Casino Resort, the OLG Stage and Avalon Theatre host more than 320 shows a year, so a holiday concert is often an option; our nightlife guide covers the casino nights.
January to March: icewine and the quiet season
January is icewine month. The Niagara Grape & Wine Festival organisation runs its winter icewine events, including the Icewine Village on Queen Street in Niagara-on-the-Lake over two January weekends, with fire pits and ice carving. At the time of writing, the festival site says "see you in winter 2027" and has not published dates; we will not guess them.
Icewine itself is made from grapes frozen on the vine and picked at −8 °C or colder, so the harvest happens in the deep cold. Our icewine page explains the rules and where to taste.
On weekends in February and March, the NOTL wineries run Chocolate & Cheese, another self-guided pairing tour. At the Falls, Journey Behind the Falls, the Niagara Parks Power Station, the Butterfly Conservatory, the Floral Showhouse and Niagara Takes Flight stay open year-round, while the Whirlpool Aero Car and White Water Walk close until April.
April to June: theatre opens, boats return
- The Shaw Festival's main season usually opens in April; the 2026 season began on 2 April.
- Boat tours reopen in spring, timed by the ice on Lake Erie. In 2026 Maid of the Mist opened on 24 April and Niagara City Cruises reopened on 1 May, later than usual because of heavy ice.
- The Whirlpool Aero Car and White Water Walk reopen for their April-to-November seasons.
- Laura Secord Homestead in Queenston and Old Fort Erie open for their May-to-October seasons.
- Sip & Sizzle fills NOTL winery weekends in May.
July to September: fireworks, festivals and the harvest
The summer Falls fireworks run nightly at 10 p.m., usually from mid-May to mid-October, with extended displays on 1 July (Canada Day) and 4 July (US Independence Day). The 2026 series ran from 15 May to 12 October; check Niagara Parks' fireworks page for 2027. Queen Victoria Park is the main viewing area. Our illumination and fireworks page covers where to stand and where to be collected.
Summer weekends also bring winery concerts (Jackson-Triggs hosts a summer concert series) and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce's Peach Festival.
The Niagara Grape & Wine Festival weekend at Montebello Park in St. Catharines is usually held in late September; in 2026 it ran 24–27 September, with free park entry Friday to Sunday. St. Catharines is about 20 km (13 mi) from the Falls, usually 20–25 minutes. See Wine Country Ontario's festival listing and our Niagara wine festivals page.
Sports weekends across the border
From September to January, many Niagara visitors build a weekend around a Buffalo Bills game at the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, which opened in June 2026. It is about 53 km (33 mi) from the Falls, usually 50–60 minutes plus the bridge. The Bills require an advance Bus & Limo Lot permit for buses, limos and Sprinters, and vehicles without one are turned away on game day. Our concerts and sports transportation page explains how game days work, and every passenger needs their own valid documents for the crossing; see border wait times for the live sources.
Getting to events: a comparison
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walking | Varies; fireworks crowds are slow | Free | None | Guests in Fallsview or Clifton Hill hotels |
| WEGO and transit | Varies; limited late service | Published fares | None | Daytime events near the Parkway |
| Taxi | Short trips, long waits after events | Metered | Not relevant | One-way trips on quiet nights |
| Rideshare | Short trips, long waits after events | Surge pricing at event peaks | Not relevant | Flexible plans, Canadian side only |
| Driving yourself | Plus parking and road closures | Event parking fees | Your own boot | Daytime events with no wine |
| Private chauffeur | Door to door, pre-set pickup point | Fixed fare via booker, quoted before you book | Room for coats and purchases | Theatre, wine weekends, New Year's Eve, game days |
Plainly: if your hotel overlooks the fireworks, walk to the rail and back. For a single daytime visit to a free event, transit is fine. The nights when a booked car is worth it are the crowded ones, when every cab in town is taken at the same moment and the roads near Queen Victoria Park are full. For more, read chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare.
There is no drinking in our vehicles, on festival days included; that is Niagara Region by-law and Ontario law. A sealed bottle bought at an icewine weekend rides home in the boot.
Booking an event ride in 3 steps
- Enter pickup and venue with the date and the time you need to arrive. Add a return leg, or choose "By the hour" for a multi-stop wine weekend.
- Choose the vehicle class, from a sedan for two to an Executive Sprinter for twelve or coaches on request. Fixed fares show for each.
- Add the details and pay: passengers, child seats, notes, secure payment, email confirmation.
Event nights such as long weekends may carry a different cancellation deadline, printed on your confirmation. The standard terms and the booking screens are explained in how to book a limo.
Who event trips suit
- Individuals flying in for one show; from Toronto Pearson the Falls are about 121 km (75 mi), usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 off-peak.
- Couples on a theatre-and-dinner weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
- Families at the Festival of Lights, where children can watch the displays from their car seats; see our families page.
- Groups at wine weekends or game days, travelling together in one vehicle.
