The American city of Niagara Falls has a smaller hotel district than its Canadian neighbour, but it has one clear advantage: the front door of Niagara Falls State Park is a few minutes' walk away, and Buffalo Niagara International is reachable without a border crossing. The Niagara Falls NY hotels cluster around Old Falls Street, Third and Fourth Streets and the riverside on Buffalo Avenue. NiagaraFallsLimo.net collects guests at all of them for Buffalo and Niagara Falls International flights, for Toronto Pearson departures across the border, and for days on the Canadian side. This page sets out the hotels, the distances in miles and kilometres, and the way the cross-border trips work.
How do I get from Buffalo airport to a Niagara Falls, NY hotel?
Book a pre-arranged car with NiagaraFallsLimo.net: the chauffeur meets you at Buffalo Niagara International and drives about 24 mi (39 km) to downtown Niagara Falls, NY, usually 35 to 50 minutes, with no border to cross. Enter your terminal and hotel in the booker and the fixed fare appears before you pay.
For Allegiant flights into Niagara Falls International (IAG), the hotel is even closer, about 8 mi (13 km) and 15 to 20 minutes. Toronto Pearson is the long option, about 78 mi (126 km) plus a bridge crossing.
The American side in a paragraph
Niagara Falls State Park, which calls itself America's oldest state park, was established in 1885 as the Niagara Reservation with Frederick Law Olmsted's vision behind it, according to the park's official site. It is open 365 days a year. From the downtown hotels you can walk to Prospect Point, the Observation Tower and the Maid of the Mist landing, and cross to Goat Island and Cave of the Winds. The tourism body for the area is Destination Niagara USA, the official destination marketing organization for Niagara County.

Where the car meets you
Downtown Niagara Falls, NY, has short blocks and a lot of one-way traffic around the casino and the park entrances. We collect at your hotel's main entrance or porte-cochère at the booked time. At Seneca Niagara, a large resort with several doors, tell us in the booker notes whether you will be at the hotel lobby or the casino side. For Comfort Inn "The Pointe" by the park, the chauffeur waits at the hotel's front door rather than inside the park's roads.

Arriving by air on the American side
Buffalo Niagara International (BUF) is the main gateway, with up to 100 nonstop flights a day to 31 destinations, by the airport's own count. The drive to the Niagara Falls, NY hotels runs north on the interstate and needs no passport. With meet & greet, the chauffeur waits inside arrivals with a name board; we track the flight in all cases. More on our Buffalo Niagara airport transfer page.
Niagara Falls International (IAG) is close to downtown. Its route page lists only Allegiant, to several Florida airports and Myrtle Beach. The airport's ground-transportation page notes that rideshare services may not cross the border, a detail worth knowing if you plan to stay in Canada; a pre-booked car with us does cross. See Niagara Falls International airport.
Toronto Pearson (YYZ) makes sense for international long-haul flights. The car crosses the Rainbow or Lewiston-Queenston Bridge in each direction. See our Pearson transfer page for timing.
Amtrak's Maple Leaf stops at the Niagara Falls, NY station, 825 Depot Avenue West, on its daily New York City to Toronto run. Our train station transfers cover that platform.
A day in Canada from your NY hotel
Most American-side guests spend at least one day on the Canadian side: the Horseshoe Falls from Table Rock, Journey Behind the Falls, Clifton Hill, the Fallsview restaurants, or the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake. The chauffeur drives you over the Rainbow Bridge, waits or returns at an agreed time, and brings you back the same evening.
Each passenger needs their own documents. Entering Canada, CBSA recommends a valid passport for US citizens of any age, with alternatives such as an enhanced driver's licence or proof of citizenship; returning to the United States, US citizens can use a passport, passport card, enhanced driver's licence or NEXUS card. Visitors from other countries should read our international visitors page. The full lists are on documents for entering Canada and the Rainbow Bridge guide. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission collects tolls only on the way into Canada.
Our cross-border car service explains how waiting time and return trips work, and our guide to the Canadian side vs the American side helps decide where to spend your hours.
Evenings on the American side
- Seneca Niagara is a short walk from most downtown hotels; guests often want a car only for dinner elsewhere.
- The illuminated Falls are lit every night of the year, and the view from Prospect Point is a short walk. A night drive that adds the Canadian vantage points needs the bridge.
- Lewiston and Youngstown, along the river to the north, have restaurants and Old Fort Niagara; see our Old Fort Niagara page.
There is no drinking in our vehicles on either side of the border. In New York, the open-container law prohibits drinking in a motor vehicle on a public highway, with only a narrow exception for licensed buses of ten or more passengers, and in Ontario the rules are stricter still. Sealed purchases ride in the back.
Who stays on the American side
