Solo travel to Niagara Falls is easy in daylight and on the Falls strip, and it gets harder at the edges: a flight that lands at Toronto Pearson after 11 pm, a meeting in Fallsview followed by a dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a day that crosses into New York. NiagaraFallsLimo.net is a pre-booked chauffeur service, and a large share of our bookings are for one person: business travellers, people visiting family, photographers chasing the ice in February, and visitors from abroad who want one less unknown. This page is part of who we serve and explains how we plan a trip for an individual traveller.
Is a private car worth it for solo travel to Niagara Falls?
Yes, for late arrivals, airport runs and multi-stop days. NiagaraFallsLimo.net meets solo travellers at Toronto Pearson, about 121 km and 1 h 30 to 1 h 50 from the Falls off-peak, at a fixed fare shown before you book online in three steps. For daytime hops on the Falls strip, walking or WEGO is fine.
The honest answer depends on the trip. We set out below where a single traveller does better with transit, and where a chauffeur clearly earns its fare.
What a solo traveller actually needs from a car
People travelling alone ask us the same handful of things, and none of them are about leather seats:
- Certainty at arrival. You know the vehicle class, the pickup point and the confirmation before you land, and the booker records your flight number so the pickup moves if the flight does.
- No negotiation. The fare is fixed and shown before payment. There is no meter running in traffic and no surge at 1 am.
- A driver who waits. On an hourly booking, your bag stays in the car while you walk the Table Rock railings or sit through a two-hour lunch.
- Discretion. Chauffeurs are discreet by habit, and NDAs are available on request for clients who need them.
- A licensed, commercially insured vehicle and driver, not a private car whose insurance you cannot see.
The right vehicle for one
| Vehicle class | Passengers | Bags | When a solo traveller picks it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Sedan (Cadillac XTS or similar) | Up to 3 | 2 large | Most airport runs and city-to-city trips |
| Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class | Up to 2 | 2 | Business arrivals, client meetings, a quieter cabin |
| Executive Black SUV (Escalade / Navigator) | Up to 6 | 6 | Lots of luggage, camera gear or golf clubs |
| Mercedes-Maybach or Rolls-Royce | Up to 2 | 2 | A milestone trip; availability confirmed at booking |
Models are "or similar" and confirmed at booking. If you are carrying a photographer's kit or two large cases plus a garment bag, choose the SUV; the sedan's two large bags is a real limit. The full list is on our fleet page.
Arriving alone at Toronto Pearson
Toronto Pearson is the airport most solo visitors use. The pre-arranged pickup areas are at Terminal 1 Door A and Terminal 3 Door A, as set out on Pearson's pre-arranged services page. If you would rather be met inside, add meet and greet in the booker and your chauffeur waits in arrivals with a name board. See our meet and greet service for how it works.
From Pearson to the Fallsview district is about 121 km (75 mi), usually 1 h 30 to 1 h 50 off-peak by the QEW; allow 2 h or more on a summer Friday afternoon. Full detail is on our Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls transfer page. If you are flying from the US, Buffalo Niagara International is about 42 km (26 mi) from the Falls plus the bridge crossing; see Buffalo Niagara airport transfers.
Late arrivals and early departures
The trips where a solo traveller benefits most are the ones at the edges of the day. A 6 am flight from Pearson means leaving Fallsview at around 2:30 to 3 am. A 23:40 landing after a delayed connection means reaching the hotel close to 2 am. In both cases:
- The pickup time is set from your flight, and the desk tracks the flight on arrival.
- You know in advance which vehicle class is coming and that the booking is in your name.
- You do not stand at a rank or wait for a rideshare driver to accept a long trip at night.
Our 24/7 reservations desk handles changes at any hour.
Business travellers in Niagara
Niagara Falls hosts a steady calendar of conferences. The Niagara Falls Convention Centre at 6815 Stanley Avenue has about 200,000 sq ft of event space and sits a short walk from the Fallsview towers, according to the convention centre's own site. A typical solo business booking looks like this:
- Pearson to the hotel on arrival, sedan or E-Class.
- A dinner booking in Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 23 km away, with the car waiting.
- A next-day client visit in St. Catharines or Hamilton, then the airport.
For a team or a company account conversation, our corporate car service page is the place to start. For a single executive, the private chauffeur service covers the day.
Seeing the Falls on your own
Travelling alone is a good way to see Niagara, because you set the pace. A solo sightseeing day we often drive:
- Morning: drop at the Table Rock Centre, about 3 km from the Fallsview hotels, for Journey Behind the Falls, which descends 125 ft into tunnels at the foot of the Horseshoe Falls and is open year-round. Read our Journey Behind the Falls page.
- Midday: north along the Niagara Parkway to the Whirlpool Aero Car (April to November) or the Butterfly Conservatory (year-round).
- Afternoon: one winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake; a chauffeured wine tour works for one guest too.
- Evening: dinner at the Skylon Tower, 775 ft up, then the illuminated Falls.
There is no drinking in our vehicles, which is the law in Niagara and also the point of having a driver: you can taste at the wineries and still get back safely. For more ideas, see things to do in Niagara Falls.
Trains and stations for solo travellers
Many solo travellers arrive by rail. The VIA Rail and GO station in Niagara Falls is at 4267 Bridge Street, about 4 km from the Falls; VIA notes it opens 30 minutes before a train arrives and closes 30 minutes after it leaves, so it is not a place to wait long at night. The VIA Rail Niagara Falls station page has the details. We meet trains there, and the Amtrak Maple Leaf station in Niagara Falls, New York, at 825 Depot Avenue West. See our train station transfers.
Crossing the border on your own
If your trip includes the New York side, the chauffeur crosses the bridge with you. You must carry your own valid documents: a passport for most visitors, and for Visa Waiver travellers an approved ESTA before reaching the US land border. International visitors should read our guide for international visitors at the Niagara border before they book. Crossing times vary from day to day, and we do not predict them.
Transit, taxi, rideshare or chauffeur: the honest comparison
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO train from Toronto | Timetable-dependent, plus getting to and from stations | GO fare (check gotransit.com) | What you can carry | Budget solo trips to the Falls strip |
| FlixBus from Toronto | From about 1 h 30 on the bus | Fares from $20.98 (as of 2026) | Under-bus bag | Daytime solo travel with a fixed timetable |
| Rideshare | Fast when cars are nearby | Surge pricing at peaks | Small to medium | A short hop in town |
| Taxi | Rank or call | Metered | Trunk | A single ride within Niagara Falls |
| Rental car | Fast, plus parking and tolls | Rental, fuel, parking | Full | Solo travellers who like to drive |
| Private chauffeur | Door to door, no transfers | Fixed fare via booker | Full, by vehicle class | Late arrivals, business days, wine and border days |
If you are travelling light in daylight and only going to the Falls, the GO Transit train, seven days a week to Niagara Falls, or the bus is the sensible choice, and WEGO covers the Parkway. A taxi is fine for one short ride. Book a chauffeur when you land late, carry real luggage, have a meeting to reach on time, plan several stops, or want to cross the border without changing vehicles. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide goes into more detail.
Travelling alone, then joined by others
Plans change. A solo conference trip becomes a weekend when a partner flies in on Friday; a visit to family becomes a dinner for six. If that happens, our pages for couples visiting Niagara Falls and group trips to Niagara Falls cover the next booking, and the reservations desk can change your vehicle class if there is availability. Families with children should see the families page for car seats.

Frequently asked questions
Is Niagara Falls a good place to travel alone?
Yes. The Falls strip between Table Rock and Clifton Hill is walkable and busy, and Niagara Parks runs the main attractions along the river. The harder parts for a solo traveller are late airport arrivals, the spread-out wineries and the border, which is where a pre-booked car helps most.
How do I get from Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls on my own?
You can take public transit with a change in Toronto, a bus, or a pre-booked car. A chauffeur meets you at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 Door A, or inside arrivals with a name board, and drives about 121 km to the Falls, usually 1 h 30 to 1 h 50 off-peak, at a fixed fare quoted before you book.
Is it safe to take a car late at night as a solo traveller?
With NiagaraFallsLimo.net the vehicle and chauffeur are licensed and commercially insured, the booking is in your name, and you receive the confirmation by email before travel. You are not choosing a car at a kerb at night. If anything changes, the 24/7 reservations desk is reachable at any hour.
Is a sedan big enough for one person with luggage?
A Standard Sedan takes up to 3 passengers and 2 large bags. That covers most solo travellers. If you have more than two large cases, sports equipment or camera cases, choose a Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV, which take 6 bags.
Can I book a chauffeur by the hour just for myself?
Yes. "By the hour" is a mode in the booker and suits a solo sightseeing day, a string of business meetings or a winery afternoon. The car waits between stops, so your bag and coat stay inside and you do not hail a new ride each time.
Is there a train from Toronto to Niagara Falls?
Yes. GO Transit runs trains to Niagara Falls seven days a week, and VIA Rail and the Amtrak Maple Leaf serve the same station at 4267 Bridge Street. For a daytime trip with light luggage the train is a good option; a chauffeur can meet you at the station if your hotel is across town.
Do solo business travellers get a receipt?
Every booking is confirmed by email after secure payment. If you need receipts or invoices issued in a particular way for a company, talk to the reservations desk when you book, and see our corporate page for account conversations.
