Niagara Falls for couples has two faces. One is the brink of the Horseshoe Falls at dusk, the illumination and a table high above it all. The other is twenty minutes north: Niagara-on-the-Lake's inns, its wineries and a theatre festival that began there in 1962. Most of the couples we drive at NiagaraFallsLimo.net want both, and want to move between them without either partner driving after a tasting or hunting for parking in a dress. This page, part of who we serve, sets out how we plan a romantic trip, a proposal or an anniversary, and which car suits two.
What is there to do in Niagara Falls for couples?
For couples, Niagara Falls means the Horseshoe Falls at dusk, the nightly illumination, dinner 775 ft up at the Skylon Tower, and Niagara-on-the-Lake's inns and wineries about 23 km north. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives couples in a Mercedes S-Class, Maybach or Rolls-Royce at a fixed fare shown before you book online in three steps.
The rest of this page goes into the detail: timing the light, planning a proposal, choosing the car and the one rule about champagne.
Choosing a car for two
Two passengers open up the most special cars we offer. All are "or similar", with the model confirmed at booking.
| Vehicle class | Passengers | Bags | Why couples choose it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class | Up to 2 | 2 | Quiet, understated, the default for a dinner or airport arrival |
| Mercedes-Maybach | Up to 2 | 2 | Rear-seat comfort for an anniversary; availability confirmed at booking |
| Rolls-Royce | Up to 2 | 2 | The proposal or wedding-day car; availability confirmed at booking |
| Stretch Limousine | Up to 8 | Minimal | When the proposal turns into a celebration with friends |
| Executive Black SUV | Up to 6 | 6 | Arriving from the airport with a week of luggage |
If you are flying in for the weekend with two large cases each, book the SUV for the airport run and a Maybach or Rolls-Royce for the evening. Our fleet page shows every class.
An evening at the Falls, timed for two
The Falls are lit every night of the year, and the best evening for couples is built around that. The lights come on between about 4:30 pm in November and December and 8:30 pm from mid-May to the end of July.

- Pickup at your hotel on the Fallsview ridge; our Fallsview hotels guide lists each tower's entrance.
- Table Rock at dusk, about 3 km and 5 to 10 minutes away, where the railings sit at the very edge of the Horseshoe Falls.
- Dinner at the Skylon Tower, whose Revolving Dining Room turns once an hour 775 ft above the Falls; a dinner reservation includes the observation deck. See our Skylon Tower page.
- Queen Victoria Park after dinner for the illuminated Falls, with the car collecting you when you are ready.
In 2026 the Falls fireworks ran nightly at 10 pm from May 15 to October 12; the 2027 dates are not yet published. In the cold months, the Winter Festival of Lights runs November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027, and a slow drive along the lit Parkway is one of the more romantic hours you can spend in Niagara. Our falls night tour puts it together.
A weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Niagara-on-the-Lake's Old Town is about 23 km from Fallsview, usually 25 to 30 minutes on the Niagara Parkway past the Floral Clock and Queenston Heights. Many couples stay there rather than at the Falls. The Vintage Hotels group runs the Prince of Wales Hotel at 6 Picton Street, Queen's Landing and Pillar and Post; the Oban Inn and Riverbend Inn are nearby. Our guide to Niagara-on-the-Lake inns compares them, and our Prince of Wales Hotel page covers arrivals there.
A typical couples' day in wine country:
- Late morning: Queen Street, the clock tower and the gardens by the water.
- Lunch: a winery restaurant. Trius says its restaurant has been Niagara-on-the-Lake's only MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant for three years; Two Sisters runs Kitchen76 at the winery. Check the Trius Winery Restaurant page for its menus.
- Afternoon: two tastings close together; our Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries guide lists them by road.
- Evening: the Shaw Festival, whose 2026 season runs to December 23, then a short ride back to the inn.
Book the day as a chauffeured Niagara wine tour and neither of you has to stop tasting early.
Planning a proposal at Niagara Falls
We are asked to help with proposals often, and the chauffeur's job is simple: get you to the right place at the right moment, then disappear. Some practical points from the reservations desk:
- Pick the spot and the light first. Table Rock at dusk, the railings in Queen Victoria Park once the illumination comes on, or the Floral Clock on the Parkway, which is 40 ft across and replanted twice a year. The Floral Clock is about 11 km north of Fallsview.
- Tell us in the booking notes. If your partner does not know, say so. The chauffeur will not mention it, and a cover story such as "dinner reservation" works well.
- Coordinate a photographer. If you have hired one, give us their arrival time and we will time the drop-off to match.
- Plan the celebration after, not in the car. There is no drinking in our vehicles. Niagara Region by-law 2021-58 forbids a vehicle-for-hire driver to permit alcohol consumption in the vehicle, and Ontario's Liquor Licence and Control Act has no limousine exception. You can add a sealed bottle in the booker as a gift to take away and open at your hotel or restaurant.
- Have a rain plan. The Table Rock Centre and Journey Behind the Falls, which descends 125 ft to the foot of the Horseshoe Falls, are covered and open all year.
Our anniversary and proposal limo page has more ideas, and if the answer is yes, our wedding limo page is the next step.
Anniversaries and honeymoons
For a milestone, couples often add one experience they would not book on an ordinary trip. Niagara Helicopters flies daily from 9 am until sunset, weather permitting, and offers a tour pairing the Falls with the wineries; the Niagara Helicopters site has the details. Others choose a winter weekend for the icewine: under VQA Ontario rules the grapes are picked naturally frozen at minus 8 °C or colder, and the Icewine Village on Queen Street usually runs over two January weekends. Read our icewine guide for the season.
A day on the New York side together
Some couples spend a morning across the river. Cave of the Winds on Goat Island puts you on the Hurricane Deck beside the Bridal Veil Falls, and Prospect Point has the only panoramic view of all three falls. The State Park is about 3 km from Fallsview plus the Rainbow Bridge. The chauffeur crosses with you; each of you must carry your own valid documents. See our Rainbow Bridge guide and documents for entering the USA.
Getting there as a couple
Most couples fly into Toronto Pearson, about 121 km (75 mi) from the Falls and usually 1 h 30 to 1 h 50 off-peak, or Buffalo Niagara International, about 42 km (26 mi) plus the bridge. Starting the weekend with a chauffeur at arrivals means the trip begins at the gate. See our Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls transfer.
How couples compare the options
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO train plus walking | Timetable-dependent, plus station transfers | GO fare (check gotransit.com) | What you can carry | Light-luggage day trips from Toronto |
| WEGO visitor bus | Waits at stops | Adult 24-hour pass $16 CAD (as of 2026) | Day bag | Hopping the Parkway in daylight |
| Rideshare | Fast when cars are near | Surge pricing after shows and fireworks | Small | One short ride in town |
| Taxi | Rank or call | Metered | Trunk | A single trip back to the hotel |
| Rental car | Fast, plus parking each stop | Rental, fuel, tolls, parking | Full | Couples who will not taste wine |
| Private chauffeur | Door to door, car waits discreetly | Fixed fare via booker | Full | Proposals, anniversaries, wine days, airport arrivals |
If you are staying on the Fallsview ridge and only walking to Table Rock and Clifton Hill, you do not need a car at all; walk and enjoy it. A taxi is fine for one ride after dinner. A pre-booked chauffeur makes sense when the evening has a plan you do not want to leave to chance, when both of you want to taste wine, when you arrive by air, or when you cross the border. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide lays out the differences.
If friends or family join you
A proposal weekend can turn into a party. If friends are coming, a Stretch Limousine takes up to 8 and an Executive Sprinter up to 12; see our page on group trips to Niagara Falls. If children are part of the trip, our page for families visiting Niagara covers car seats. Business travellers bringing a partner can combine both with our individual travellers page.
How to book this in 3 steps
- Enter the plan. Your hotel or inn as pickup, the first stop or "By the hour" for an evening, the date and time, and a note if it is a surprise.
- Choose the car. S-Class, Maybach, Rolls-Royce or SUV; the booker shows the fixed all-in fare for each class before you pay.
- Finish and pay. Add any extras, such as a sealed bottle to take away, then pay securely and receive your confirmation by email.
Frequently asked questions
What are the most romantic things to do in Niagara Falls?
Watch the Horseshoe Falls from Table Rock at dusk, have dinner in the Skylon Tower's Revolving Dining Room, see the nightly illumination from Queen Victoria Park, and spend a day in Niagara-on-the-Lake among the wineries and inns. In winter, add the Winter Festival of Lights and icewine tastings.
Where is the best place to propose at Niagara Falls?
Popular choices are the Table Rock railings at dusk, Queen Victoria Park once the illumination comes on, and the Floral Clock on the Niagara Parkway. Choose by light and crowd: early evening on a weekday is quieter. Tell us it is a surprise in the booking notes and the chauffeur will keep it.
Can we have champagne in the limo?
No. There is no drinking in our vehicles. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids drivers to permit alcohol consumption in the vehicle, and Ontario law has no limousine exception. You can add a sealed bottle in the booker as a gift to take away and open at your hotel or restaurant.
Which car is best for a proposal or anniversary?
For two people, the Rolls-Royce and Mercedes-Maybach are the most special, and the Mercedes S-Class is the quieter, understated choice. Each takes up to 2 passengers. Rolls-Royce and Maybach availability is confirmed at booking, so reserve early for a fixed date.
Is Niagara-on-the-Lake or Niagara Falls better for couples?
Niagara Falls has the view, the illumination and the high-rise hotels. Niagara-on-the-Lake has historic inns, wineries and the Shaw Festival. Many couples stay in one and visit the other; they are about 23 km apart, usually 25 to 30 minutes by the Niagara Parkway.
How far is Niagara-on-the-Lake from Niagara Falls?
About 23 km (15 mi) from the Fallsview hotels to the Old Town clock tower, usually 25 to 30 minutes by the Niagara Parkway. The route passes the Whirlpool, the Floral Clock and Queenston Heights, which makes the drive part of the day.
Is Niagara Falls good for couples in winter?
Yes. Crowds are thinner, the gorge ices over, and the Winter Festival of Lights runs from November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027, with fireworks at 8 pm on Fridays and Saturdays from November 14, then nightly from December 18 to January 2. January brings icewine events in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
