Wheelchair accessible Niagara Falls travel works best when the details are sorted out at home rather than on the day. NiagaraFallsLimo.net includes a wheelchair option in the online booker, takes trained service animals as standard, and plans pickups at places with level curbs and room to load. What follows is the planning advice our reservations desk gives travellers with reduced mobility, plus verified accessibility information for the main Niagara attractions.

Can I get wheelchair accessible transportation in Niagara Falls?

Yes. NiagaraFallsLimo.net's online booker has a wheelchair option for trips in Niagara Falls, Ontario and from airports such as Toronto Pearson, about 130 km away. Tell us whether the chair folds, its size and weight, and if the traveller can transfer to a seat; the booker shows the fixed fare before you pay.

The most important word in that answer is describe. A folding manual wheelchair, a heavy power chair, a mobility scooter and a walker are very different things to carry. Toronto Pearson gives travellers the same advice for every operator at the airport: ask the company directly whether it can carry a non-foldable or non-collapsible mobility aid (Toronto Pearson pre-arranged services). We would rather answer that question honestly before you pay than discover a problem at the terminal door.

What to tell us when you book

Put these details in the booking notes. They take two minutes to write and decide everything about the trip.

  1. The mobility aid. Folding manual chair, rigid manual chair, power chair or scooter. For anything that does not fold, the approximate width, length and weight.
  2. Transfers. Can the traveller move from the chair to a vehicle seat, with or without help? If not, say so first.
  3. Other equipment. Walkers, portable oxygen, a shower chair for the hotel, or a stroller as well.
  4. Service animal. Trained service animals are welcome; tell us so the chauffeur expects them.
  5. Pickup point. Which door, entrance or curb is easiest. Hotels often have a level side entrance away from the busy main doors.
  6. Hearing or vision needs. If texts work better than calls, or the chauffeur should come inside to meet you, say so.
  7. Pace. How long boarding usually takes, so the schedule allows for it.

If the vehicle class you picked cannot carry the equipment you describe, the reservations desk will tell you and suggest another class or another plan. We do not guess.

Plan an accessible trip in the booker

Folding chairs, power chairs and scooters

Folding manual wheelchairs are the simplest case. The traveller transfers to a seat, and the chair folds into the trunk or cargo area. An SUV such as a Suburban, Yukon XL, Escalade or Navigator, with up to 6 passengers and 6 bags, gives the most room for the chair plus luggage.

Niagara Parks Power Station tunnel platform

Power chairs and scooters are heavy and often do not fold. Whether one can be carried depends on its dimensions and weight and on whether the traveller can transfer to a seat. Give us those details first; it is the single most useful thing you can do.

Walkers and canes fit in any vehicle. A higher SUV seat is often easier to get into than a low sedan; tell us which suits you.

Every passenger, including a wheelchair user who has transferred to a seat, wears a fastened seat belt; Ontario requires it of every driver and passenger (Ontario seatbelt safety). Child, toddler and booster seats are booker options too.

Airports when you have reduced mobility

The vehicle is only half of an airport trip; the other half is getting from the aircraft to the car.

  • Ask your airline for assistance to the arrivals area when you book your flight. Airline and airport staff handle the journey from the gate.
  • Choose meet & greet in our booker, so the chauffeur waits inside arrivals with a name board and takes over from there. See meet and greet.
  • Toronto Pearson routes pre-arranged rides to Door A at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The drive to Niagara Falls is about 125–135 km, usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 off-peak. Details: Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls.
  • Billy Bishop has a pedestrian tunnel with moving walkways to the mainland, and a vehicle can cross on the ferry to the island terminal when that is the better option (ferry and parking fees apply). See Billy Bishop to Niagara Falls.

Every other gateway is listed on the airport transfers hub.

Which Niagara attractions are wheelchair accessible?

Niagara Parks publishes a detailed accessibility guide (Niagara Parks accessibility). From that guide and the attraction pages:

AttractionAccessibility, per Niagara ParksWheelchair loans
Niagara Parks Power Station + The TunnelFully accessible, glass elevator to the tunnel, benches along the wayup to four
Butterfly ConservatoryFully accessible via paved paths and ramps; captioned intro film on requestone
Floral ShowhouseFully accessible via ramps and a paved path; Braille plant labels on requestone
Journey Behind the FallsPartially accessible; the lower observation deck is reached only by about 18 stairsone
White Water WalkMain boardwalk (flat, about 1,000 ft) reached by elevator; two lower decks are stairs only—
Niagara Takes FlightPreshow fully accessible; the ride requires transferring to a theatre seatlimited
Niagara City CruisesBoats are wheelchair accessible—

Niagara Parks also lends wheelchairs at the Table Rock Welcome Centre, up to eight a day, first come, first served. Heritage sites such as Laura Secord Homestead and Old Fort Erie are partially accessible, with some upper floors reached by stairs only.

The Power Station deserves special mention. Its glass elevator descends 180 ft to a 2,200-ft tunnel dug in 1901, ending at a platform at the river's edge with views of the Horseshoe and American Falls, and Niagara Parks describes The Tunnel as fully accessible. Our guides to the Niagara Parks Power Station, the Butterfly Conservatory, Journey Behind the Falls, the White Water Walk and Niagara City Cruises explain where the car drops you at each.

Getting around the Falls once you are there

You do not have to use a car for every short hop. Niagara Parks' visitor transit is well set up for wheelchair users:

  • WEGO buses are fully accessible, with a fold-out ramp, kneeling suspension, space to secure one wheelchair and one scooter, and audio and visual next-stop announcements (WEGO Niagara Falls).
  • The Falls Incline Railway links the Fallsview hotel area with Table Rock year-round. Its floor is level with the platform, its gates are extra wide and straps secure mobility devices.
  • Support persons ride WEGO and the Incline free, according to Niagara Parks.
  • Accessible parking. Holders of an accessible permit pay on their first park at a Niagara Parks lot and can re-park free the same day at other paid lots by keeping and displaying the receipt.

Where a chauffeur helps most is the gaps between those systems: the hotel to Table Rock in bad weather, Niagara-on-the-Lake's wineries and Old Town, the Floral Clock and Queenston Heights along the Parkway, and every airport. A private Niagara Falls tour or hourly chauffeur booking keeps one vehicle with you for the day, so the chair is always in the car and the next stop is never far.

When something else is better. If you are staying in Fallsview and your plan is Table Rock, the Power Station and the Butterfly Conservatory, the Incline and the WEGO buses may cover most of the day well, with their ramps and level boarding. A chauffeur makes the difference for airports, wine country, evenings out, cold or wet days, border crossings and any day with more stops than the WEGO network covers. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide compares the options generally.

Service animals

Trained service animals are welcome in every NiagaraFallsLimo.net vehicle. Niagara Parks permits service and support animals in public areas at all its sites, and notes that documentation may be requested if the animal is not readily identifiable as a service animal; a regulated health professional can provide it, and the disability itself need not be disclosed. Bring water and a mat for long airport runs; the chauffeur will stop when the animal needs a break.

Hotels, wineries and the border

Hotels. Ask your hotel directly for an accessible room and the location of its most level entrance, then put that entrance in our booking notes. Our Fallsview hotels guide describes where cars stop at each tower.

Wineries. Tasting rooms vary: some are at ground level with paved paths, others have steps or gravel. Call ahead when you reserve your tasting, and the chauffeur will drop you at the most suitable door.

Crossing to the US side. The chauffeur crosses the bridge with you. Every passenger needs their own valid documents; keep medication in its labelled containers and answer the officer's questions about it if asked. Overseas visitors should read international visitors before planning a day in New York.

Who this service suits

Individuals using a wheelchair or scooter who want a trip planned around their equipment, not adapted at the curb. Couples where one partner has reduced mobility and the other would rather not drive and navigate. Families travelling with grandparents, often alongside young children who need car seats; see families visiting Niagara Falls. Groups that include one or more wheelchair users, where splitting into a Sprinter and an SUV keeps everyone together; see group transportation.

How to book an accessible trip in 3 steps

  1. Enter the route. Pickup and drop-off (airport, hotel, attraction, winery or address), date and time, plus a flight number for airport pickups.
  2. Choose the vehicle and tick the wheelchair option. Each class shows its fixed all-in fare. SUVs give the most room for a folding chair and luggage.
  3. Describe the needs, then pay. Add the mobility aid, transfers, service animal and preferred entrance in the notes, add meet & greet if useful, pay securely and receive your confirmation by email.

More on changes and payments is in how to book a limo. All our services are on the services hub.

Frequently asked questions

Is Niagara Falls wheelchair accessible?

Much of it is. Niagara Parks lists the Power Station and its tunnel, the Butterfly Conservatory and the Floral Showhouse as fully accessible, and the WEGO buses and Falls Incline Railway have level or ramped boarding. Journey Behind the Falls and the White Water Walk are partially accessible, with some decks reached only by stairs.

Can you carry a power wheelchair or mobility scooter?

It depends on the chair's size and weight and whether the traveller can transfer to a seat. Describe it in the booking notes before you pay, and the reservations desk will tell you honestly whether the vehicle class can carry it, or suggest another plan.

Can I borrow a wheelchair at Niagara Falls?

Yes. Niagara Parks lends wheelchairs on a first-come, first-served basis: up to eight a day at the Table Rock Welcome Centre, up to four at the Power Station, and one each at Journey Behind the Falls, the Butterfly Conservatory and the Floral Showhouse.

Are service animals allowed in your vehicles?

Yes, trained service animals are welcome. Mention the animal when you book so the chauffeur expects it. Niagara Parks also permits service animals in public areas at all its sites.

Is the Maid of the Mist or the Niagara City Cruises boat accessible?

Niagara Parks states that the Niagara City Cruises boats on the Canadian side are wheelchair accessible. For the Maid of the Mist on the New York side, check accessibility with the operator before you cross the border.

Do support persons pay on WEGO and the Incline Railway?

No. Niagara Parks says support persons ride the WEGO buses and the Falls Incline Railway free. Some attractions may require a support person to accompany certain visitors; check the attraction's page.

How much is accessible transportation in Niagara Falls?

The online booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your route and vehicle before you pay. Adding the wheelchair option and describing your equipment helps us confirm the right vehicle; there is no meter and no surge pricing.
