A NiagaraFallsLimo.net city to city car service is the simplest way to move between Niagara and another city without changing vehicles: one chauffeur collects you at the door, carries the bags, crosses the border if the trip needs it, and sets you down at the exact address at the other end. This page covers the long runs we drive most often, from the short hop to Buffalo to the full day to Montreal or Manhattan, and explains when a train or coach is honestly the better choice.
What is a city to city car service from Niagara Falls?
A city to city car service is a private, pre-booked ride from one city to another. With NiagaraFallsLimo.net, a chauffeur drives you from Niagara Falls to Toronto (about 130 km, usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50), Buffalo, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal or New York City. Enter both addresses in the online booker to see the fixed fare first.
The difference from a local transfer is distance. A ride across town takes ten minutes; a ride to Ottawa is most of a working day, so vehicle class, stops and documents matter far more.
Most city to city trips fall into one of three patterns:
- Arrive in one city, stay in another. You land at Toronto Pearson or fly into Buffalo, but your hotel, wedding or meeting is in Niagara.
- Finish a Niagara stay and move on. A family ends three nights in Fallsview and heads to Ottawa or Montreal for the next leg of a Canada trip.
- Business between two offices. A team spends the morning in Hamilton and the afternoon in Buffalo, with the bridge in the middle.
Distances and drive times from Niagara Falls
All figures below are road distances from the Fallsview and Clifton Hill hotel area, rounded, with typical off-peak times. They do not include a border queue, and summer weekends run longer. The chauffeur adjusts the route on the day using live traffic.

For the busiest corridors we keep separate route guides with more detail: Toronto to Niagara Falls, Hamilton to Niagara Falls, Kitchener-Waterloo to Niagara Falls and London, Ontario to Niagara Falls.
The Toronto corridor: the run we drive every day
Most of our long rides use the Queen Elizabeth Way, the QEW, which is the main highway between Toronto and the Niagara Peninsula. It follows the shore of Lake Ontario through Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton and St. Catharines, then hands over to Highway 420 into the centre of Niagara Falls.

There is a second option for part of the way: the 407 ETR, an electronic toll highway north of the city with no toll booths. Cameras read a transponder or the licence plate and the bill arrives later, which surprises many visitors in rental cars. The 407 ETR site explains how billing works. A chauffeur can use it when the QEW through Mississauga is jammed, and the fixed fare you saw in the booker does not change because of it.
Time of day matters more than distance on this corridor. A Tuesday mid-morning run from Union Station to a Fallsview hotel can be close to 1 h 30. The same trip at 4 p.m. on a July Friday, when half of Toronto heads for cottage country and the falls, can take well over two hours. If you are catching a flight, a show or a ceremony, tell the booker the time you need to arrive and we will set the pickup back from that.
Cross-border city to city trips: Buffalo, Rochester and beyond
A trip from Niagara Falls, Ontario to any American city crosses one of four bridges. For cars the usual choices are the Rainbow Bridge beside the falls, the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge to the north and the Peace Bridge between Fort Erie and Buffalo. The Whirlpool Rapids Bridge is limited to NEXUS members. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission posts current conditions for its three bridges and the Peace Bridge on one page, and the chauffeur checks it before choosing.
On these trips the chauffeur crosses with you and stays with the vehicle through inspection. What we cannot do is carry papers for you: every passenger needs their own valid travel document. For Americans returning home by land, U.S. Customs and Border Protection lists a passport, passport card, enhanced driver's licence or trusted-traveller card such as NEXUS among the accepted documents on its Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative page. Canadians and visitors from overseas should read our documents for entering the USA guide before booking, and our cross-border car service page explains the crossing itself. We never promise how long a bridge will take.
Short cross-border hops are common. Buffalo to Niagara Falls, Canada is about 35–40 km (22–25 mi) in 35–50 minutes before any queue, which makes it a natural airport alternative for travellers who find better fares into Buffalo than Toronto.
Ottawa and Montreal by private car
From Niagara the drive east follows the QEW or the 407 ETR to Highway 401, Ontario's main east–west highway. For Ottawa, the chauffeur leaves the 401 at Highway 416 and heads north; for Montreal, the 401 continues into Quebec and becomes Autoroute 20. Plan on six to seven hours for Ottawa and seven and a quarter to eight and a quarter for Montreal, with at least one stop at a highway service centre for coffee, washrooms and a stretch. Our Niagara Falls to Ottawa and Montreal route guide lists good places to break the drive.
For these long days, vehicle choice affects comfort more than anything else. A family of five with suitcases will be happier in a Standard SUV such as a Suburban or Yukon XL, which seats up to six with six bags, than squeezed into a sedan. A couple who want to work or sleep might choose the Mercedes-Benz E- or S-Class. A group of up to twelve travelling light fits the Executive Sprinter, though it takes carry-on bags only.
New York City from Niagara Falls
Manhattan is about 630–650 km (390–405 mi) from the Canadian falls and usually 8 to 9 hours of driving, before the border. Most trips cross at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, join Interstate 190 on the American side and continue east across New York State; the chauffeur picks the interstate route by the day's traffic and any construction. Our Niagara Falls to New York City guide covers arriving at hotels, terminals and residential buildings in the city.
A private car makes most sense for this run when the group is large enough to share the vehicle, when a passenger cannot sit on a train for twelve hours, or when there is a lot of luggage. For one person travelling light, the train or a flight is usually quicker and simpler, and we would rather tell you so.
City to city car service from Niagara: one-way or return
The booker offers point-to-point, return trips and multi-stop rides. On a city to city journey you have two practical choices:
- One-way. The chauffeur drives you to the destination and the booking ends there. This suits most long trips, because you rarely return the same day.
- Return on a later date. Book the outbound and the return as a return trip with two dates and times, so both legs are confirmed together and the same vehicle class is held for the way back.
If you want to stop on the way, for a winery lunch near Beamsville on the way to Toronto or a meeting in Hamilton on the way to Pearson, add it as a stop in the booker. A day with many stops and open-ended timing fits our hourly chauffeur service better.
How to book a city to city ride in 3 steps
- Enter both ends of the trip. Type the pickup and the drop-off: a Fallsview hotel, a house in Mississauga, a terminal, an office tower in Buffalo or a street address in Montreal. Add the date and time and, for airport or train legs, the flight or train number.
- Choose the vehicle. Each class appears with its own fixed all-in fare for that exact route. Compare the sedan, SUV, Sprinter and luxury classes side by side, or see them on the fleet page.
- Add the details and pay. Enter passengers, bags, child or booster seats, meet and greet and any stops, pay securely, and your confirmation arrives by email.
Train, bus, rideshare or chauffeur: comparing the ways to travel
Long-distance travel from Niagara has good public options, and they are worth knowing. The table compares the realistic choices for a typical trip such as Niagara Falls to downtown Toronto.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rideshare app | about 1 h 30 – 2 h, plus wait for a car | surge pricing; few drivers will cross the border | 1–2 cases in a standard car | one person, short notice, Toronto side only |
| Taxi | about 1 h 30 – 2 h | metered | 1–3 cases | short local trips rather than city to city |
| Train (GO, VIA or Amtrak Maple Leaf) | about 2 h – 2 h 45 including getting to and from stations | fare set by the operator | carry your own bags | solo travellers near a station, no heavy luggage |
| Intercity coach (FlixBus, Megabus) | about 2 h – 2 h 45 including transfers | FlixBus from $20.98 Toronto–Niagara Falls, as of 2026 | under-bus luggage | budget solo trips |
| Drive yourself | about 1 h 30 – 2 h, plus parking | fuel, 407 ETR tolls if used, hotel parking | as much as fits | people who want the car for the whole stay |
| Private chauffeur | about 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 | fixed fare via the booker | matched to the vehicle class | families, groups, heavy luggage, border trips, tight timings |
The train is genuinely good if you are one or two people with light bags staying near a station. GO Transit runs seven days a week to Niagara Falls, and the VIA Rail and GO station on Bridge Street is about 4 km from the falls. The bus is the lowest-cost option for a single traveller; FlixBus lists many daily trips. Our train and bus guide goes into detail, and chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare compares the car options.
A pre-booked chauffeur wins when you add children and car seats, three or more suitcases, a group that would need two taxis, a late flight with no trains left, or a border crossing. It also wins on certainty: a known vehicle, a named chauffeur, no surge and no queue at a rank.
Who books city to city rides
- Individuals. Executives between meetings, and visitors who prefer one driver to three transfers. See solo travel in Niagara.
- Couples. Honeymooners moving from Niagara-on-the-Lake to a Toronto hotel, or heading to Montreal for the second half of a trip.
- Families. Parents with car seats, strollers and tired children. Our families page explains the seats available in the booker.
- Groups. Wedding parties, sports teams and friends sharing an Executive Sprinter or a Stretch SUV Limousine to a game or a celebration.
Comfort on a long ride
- Pack a small cabin bag. Keep passports, medication and chargers with you, not in the cargo area.
- Send exact addresses. A Toronto condo tower or a Brooklyn brownstone may have a loading zone that beats the front door.
- Sleep or work. Our chauffeurs are discreet; ask for the radio off and the cabin stays quiet.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a car service from Niagara Falls to Toronto?
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay, so there is no meter and no surprise at the end. Enter the hotel or address in Niagara and the Toronto address or terminal, choose the vehicle class, and the price for that trip appears with every option side by side.
What is the best way to travel from Toronto to Niagara Falls?
For one person with light luggage near Union Station, the GO train or a coach is simple and low-cost. For families, groups, travellers with several bags, late arrivals or anyone going to a hotel door rather than a station, a pre-booked car is usually best. The drive is about 130 km (80 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 off-peak.
Can you drive me from Niagara Falls, Ontario to New York City?
Yes. It is about 630–650 km (390–405 mi), usually 8 to 9 hours plus the border crossing, and the chauffeur crosses the bridge with you. Every passenger must carry their own valid document for entering the United States. Book it as a one-way trip in the booker, and add stops if you want a meal break.
Do I need my passport for a trip from Niagara to Buffalo?
You need an accepted travel document for the United States, and you will need one again to return to Canada. For U.S. citizens that can be a passport, passport card, enhanced driver's licence or NEXUS card. Canadians usually carry a passport. Visitors from other countries should check their own requirements before travel; our border guides list the details.
How long is the drive from Niagara Falls to Ottawa?
It is about 560–580 km (350–360 mi), usually six to seven hours with one stop, via the QEW or 407 ETR, Highway 401 and Highway 416. Summer Fridays and winter storms add time. Choose an SUV or a Mercedes sedan for space, and ask the chauffeur for a mid-route break.
Does a private car cost less than the train for a group?
Compare the total. A train ticket is priced per person, while the booker shows one fixed fare per vehicle. For four, six or twelve people travelling together, especially with luggage, sharing one vehicle often compares well and removes the trip to and from the station. For one person, the train is usually the lower-cost choice.
Can I book a return trip on a different day?
Yes. Choose a return trip in the booker and enter both dates and times. The outbound and return legs are confirmed together under one booking, with the vehicle class you chose held for both. If your plans change, the cancellation terms are counted from each scheduled pickup.
What happens if my plans change before a long trip?
Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice is free; 72 hours or less is 10%; 48 hours or less is 50%; 24 hours or less, or a no-show, is charged in full. Long weekends and large events can carry a different deadline, printed on your confirmation.
