A Detroit Lions game limo from Ontario is a road trip with a football game in the middle. Ford Field sits in downtown Detroit, almost on the riverbank opposite Windsor, which makes it closer to many Ontario fans than they expect. From London it is a comfortable afternoon's drive; from Toronto or Niagara it is a long day that most groups turn into an overnight. NiagaraFallsLimo.net plans the whole thing with one chauffeur and one vehicle from your door in Ontario to the stadium district and back.
How far is Ford Field from Niagara Falls and Toronto?
Ford Field in downtown Detroit is about 383 km (238 mi) from Niagara Falls, Ontario, usually 4 h 15 – 4 h 45 of driving via the QEW, Highway 403 and Highway 401 plus the border at Windsor, and about 375 km (233 mi) from downtown Toronto. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives Lions fans door to door; the booker shows the fixed fare before payment.
Distances are OpenStreetMap routing to the stadium at 2000 Brush Street. Times are typical off-peak driving and do not include the border inspection or a meal stop:
| Starting point | Distance to Ford Field | Usual drive | Day trip or overnight? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windsor (downtown) | under 10 km | 10 – 20 min plus the crossing | Easy evening trip |
| London, Ontario | about 195 km (121 mi) | 2 h – 2 h 30 | Day trip works well |
| Kitchener-Waterloo | about 295 km (183 mi) | 3 h 15 – 3 h 45 | Long day; overnight for night games |
| Hamilton | about 309 km (192 mi) | 3 h 30 – 4 h | Overnight recommended |
| Downtown Toronto | about 375 km (233 mi) | 4 h – 4 h 30 | Overnight recommended |
| Niagara Falls, ON | about 383 km (238 mi) | 4 h 15 – 4 h 45 | Overnight recommended |
Fans from the west of the province have their own city pages: London limo service and Waterloo limo service. The journal post on Windsor to Niagara Falls by private car describes the Highway 401 corridor in the other direction.
Three ways across the Detroit River
The chauffeur picks the crossing on the day based on where you are coming from, the time and the posted wait. Each option has its own character.
Gordie Howe International Bridge
The newest crossing opened on July 27, 2026, and the Government of Canada describes it as having direct connections to Ontario's Highway 401 and Michigan's Interstate 75. For a car coming down the 401 from Toronto or Niagara, it is often the most direct line: highway on one side, highway on the other, without driving through Windsor's city streets. From the US end, I-75 runs north toward downtown and the stadium district.
Ambassador Bridge
The long-established suspension bridge between southwest Detroit and Windsor is open every day, around the clock, according to the Ambassador Bridge's own site. On the Canadian side, traffic reaches it through Windsor, which adds a little time compared with the newer bridge.
Detroit–Windsor Tunnel
The tunnel runs under the river and comes up at 100 East Jefferson Avenue, in the heart of downtown Detroit, a short drive from Ford Field. The Detroit–Windsor Tunnel operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, though it does close for some events, so the chauffeur checks before committing to it. From a Windsor hotel, it is usually the quickest way to the game.
Whichever crossing you use, nobody can promise how long the inspection takes. We build a margin into the pickup time and check posted waits before choosing; our border wait times page shows where those numbers come from, and the cross-border car service page explains how our chauffeurs handle US trips in general.
Day trip or overnight
The day trip works from London, Windsor and the Kitchener-Waterloo area for a 1:00 p.m. game. From London, a pickup around 8:30 a.m. leaves time for the border, a coffee stop and the walk from the drop-off point, and you are home in the evening.
The overnight is what we suggest from Toronto, Hamilton and Niagara. More than eight hours of driving in a day, with three hours of football and two border inspections, is a lot to ask of any group. Two common patterns:
- Night before in Detroit. Leave on Saturday afternoon, check into a downtown hotel, walk to the game on Sunday, and ride home after the final whistle. The chauffeur can drop you at the hotel and collect you after the game on one booking.
- Game, then a night in Windsor. Watch the game, cross back the same evening and sleep on the Canadian side, with the second half of the drive the next morning. The return inspection is done before bedtime.
For Michigan-side extras, a DTW airport run or a dinner in the city on another day, see our Detroit limo service page, which explains who drives the car on the US side when the trip does not start in Ontario.
Remaining Lions home games, 2026
From the Detroit Lions schedule, as of October 23, 2026:
| Date | Opponent | Kickoff (ET) | For your trip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday, October 25 | Green Bay Packers | 4:25 p.m. | Late-afternoon game; late return to Ontario |
| Sunday, November 1 | Minnesota Vikings | 1:00 p.m. | Day trip from London or Windsor |
| Sunday, November 22 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 1:00 p.m. | Overnight from Toronto or Niagara |
| Thursday, November 26 | Chicago Bears | 1:00 p.m. | US Thanksgiving; a Wednesday overnight helps |
| Sunday, December 13 | Tennessee Titans | 1:00 p.m. | Winter driving on the 401 |
| Monday, December 28 | New York Giants | 8:15 p.m. | Night game; overnight strongly advised |
Detroit, Windsor and all of Ontario's game-day pickup points share Eastern Time. The Lions' November 15 game against the Patriots is played abroad, not at Ford Field.
What Ford Field's own pages say about arriving
We plan around what the stadium publishes, and its pages are short on vehicle rules, so here is what is confirmed:
- Parking lots next to Ford Field and Comerica Park run on a first-come, first-served basis during games, with access generally opening four hours before kickoff, according to Ford Field's parking page. Spaces cannot be reserved in those lots.
- Tailgating and re-entry are prohibited in the lots next to the stadium.
- The official Lions tailgate, Pride Plaza, is free, does not need a game ticket and is on Brush Street beside the stadium, according to the Ford Field guest help page.
- Bags: a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag up to 12 × 6 × 12 in., a clear one-gallon freezer bag, or a small clutch up to 4.5 × 6.5 in.
Ford Field does not publish a limousine or bus lot on those pages, so we do not promise a curbside drop at a gate. The chauffeur agrees a drop-off and pickup corner in the stadium district with you before the day, and messages it again before the game ends. A downtown hotel a few blocks away often turns the post-game crush into a short walk.
Documents and the drive home
Going into Michigan, each passenger needs a document accepted for land entry to the United States. For Canadian citizens that means a valid passport, an enhanced driver's licence or a NEXUS card; Canadian children under 16 need only proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate. Our page on documents for entering the USA covers other nationalities. Coming back, everyone clears Canadian inspection; the documents for entering Canada page and the duty-free and declarations page explain what to carry and what to declare after shopping at the team store.
One more thing that is not negotiable: no drinking inside our vehicles, on either side of the river. Niagara Region's licensing by-law and Ontario's liquor law do not allow it, and we keep the same policy in Michigan. Pride Plaza and the bars around the stadium are where the pre-game happens; the car is where the chauffeur, who never drinks, gets everyone home.
Ways to get from Ontario to a Lions game
| Mode | Door to door from Toronto | Cost note | Group fit | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Driving yourself | 4 h – 4 h 30 plus border and downtown parking | Fuel, bridge or tunnel toll, game-day parking | Your car | Fans happy to drive eight-plus hours |
| Flying from Toronto Pearson to Detroit | Airport time both ends plus the ride downtown | Airline fare | Individuals | A solo fan short on time |
| Train to Windsor, then cross | VIA Rail to Windsor, then a crossing into Detroit | VIA Rail fare plus the crossing | Light luggage | Individuals who enjoy the train |
| Rideshare or taxi | Not realistic for 375 km across a border | Long cross-border trips usually declined | Small car | Rides within Detroit only |
| Private chauffeur (NiagaraFallsLimo.net) | 4 h – 4 h 30 plus border, from your door | Fixed fare via booker, shown before payment | 1 to 16 | Groups, families, overnights, anyone who wants to sleep on the way home |
Honest verdict: a solo fan from London might be just as happy driving, and someone in Windsor can take a short cab or rideshare through the tunnel. A chauffeur makes sense when a group would otherwise need two cars, when nobody wants eight hours at the wheel plus a game, and when you want a known vehicle waiting after the final whistle. Our chauffeur versus taxi versus rideshare guide covers the trade-offs in general.
Vehicles for a long game-day ride
- Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV: up to 6 passengers and 6 bags; the overnight bags fit.
- Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz): up to 12 with carry-on bags only; the usual choice for a fan group of eight or more.
- Executive Jet Sprinter: up to 6 with 2 bags; more room per passenger for a crew that wants to rest on the way home.
- Stretch SUV Limousine: up to 16 with minimal luggage; better for the Windsor day trip than the long haul. Availability confirmed at booking.
- Party Bus: up to 12; availability confirmed at booking. See our party bus service.
Larger fan clubs can ask about a coach through our group transportation page. Models are "or similar"; the fleet page shows every class.
Who a Lions trip suits
- Individuals with one ticket can share the idea with friends, or book a sedan and work on the way.
- Couples make a weekend of it, with a night in Detroit and the drive home on Monday.
- Families take an SUV with child seats from the booker; the clear-bag rule applies to everyone.
- Groups split one fixed fare for an overnight in a Sprinter. The groups page has planning notes.
For other games and long drives, our Buffalo Bills game limo page covers Highmark Stadium, the city-to-city rides page covers long one-way trips, and the journal post on Detroit to Niagara Falls through Ontario explains the route for Michigan visitors coming the other way.
Book a Lions game ride in 3 steps
- Route. Enter your pickup in Ontario, Ford Field or your Detroit hotel as the drop-off, and the kickoff time. Add a second leg for the return, or choose "By the hour".
- Vehicle. Each class shows its fixed all-in fare for that exact trip.
- Passengers and payment. Add passengers, bags and child seats, note the overnight plan, pay securely and receive your confirmation by email.
Cancellation counts from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice is free; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, the full fare. Holiday weekends such as US Thanksgiving may carry a different deadline, printed on your confirmation.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Toronto to Ford Field?
About 375 km (233 mi), usually 4 h – 4 h 30 of driving via Highway 401 and a Detroit River crossing, plus the border inspection and any stops. That is why most Toronto groups book an overnight rather than a same-day round trip.
Which crossing is best for a Lions game?
It depends on the hour and the posted wait. The Gordie Howe International Bridge, open since July 27, 2026, connects Highway 401 to I-75 directly; the Detroit–Windsor Tunnel surfaces in downtown Detroit near the stadium; the Ambassador Bridge is open around the clock. The chauffeur chooses on the day.
Can a limo drop us at the door of Ford Field?
Ford Field's own pages do not publish a limousine drop-off zone, so we agree a drop-off and pickup corner in the stadium district before game day. Lots next to the stadium are first come, first served, and tailgating and re-entry are not allowed there.
Is a Lions game a realistic day trip from Niagara Falls?
It can be done, but it is about 383 km each way plus two border inspections and the game itself. For a 1:00 p.m. kickoff that means a very early start and a late return, so we usually recommend a night in Detroit or Windsor.
Do we need passports to go to a Lions game from Ontario?
Each passenger needs a document accepted for land entry to the US: for Canadian citizens a valid passport, an enhanced driver's licence or a NEXUS card. Canadian children under 16 need only proof of citizenship. Visitors of other nationalities should check US rules well ahead.
Where is the Lions tailgate?
The official tailgate, Pride Plaza, is on Brush Street beside Ford Field. It is free and does not require a game ticket. Tailgating is not allowed in the parking lots next to the stadium.
How much does a limo to a Lions game cost?
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your pickup, the stadium or your hotel and the vehicle before you pay, for a one-way, a return or an hourly booking. A group shares one fare, and nothing surges after the game.
