Kingston sits where Lake Ontario drains into the St. Lawrence, roughly halfway between Toronto and Montreal, and that position shapes almost every Kingston limo service booking we take. Some trips stay in town: a grad night, a hockey game downtown, a visiting executive moving between Queen's University and a hotel on the water. Many go somewhere far: Toronto Pearson for a flight, or the full run west to Niagara Falls. NiagaraFallsLimo.net dispatches all of them with its own licensed, commercially insured chauffeurs, because Kingston is in Ontario and inside our own service area.
Is Kingston to Niagara Falls a reasonable trip by private car?
Yes. Kingston to Niagara Falls is about 391 km, usually 4 h 15 to 5 h 15 in a private car on Highway 401, Highway 407 and the QEW. NiagaraFallsLimo.net collects you at any Kingston address and drives door to door with no train or bus changes. Enter your trip in the online booker to see a fixed fare before paying.
It is a long drive, but an easy one to plan: almost all of it is four-lane highway, there is no border, and the only real variable is traffic on the Toronto end. For the Kingston round trip or one way, see the fares by vehicle below.
We also wrote a full cost-and-time breakdown of the question many people ask first: Kingston to Niagara Falls: is a private car worth it for four hours?. This page focuses on the logistics and on everything else we do in Kingston.
The route west: 401, the toll-free 407 East, then the 407 ETR
Most of the journey is Highway 401, west past Napanee, Belleville and Cobourg. Near Clarington, the chauffeur decides how to cross the Greater Toronto Area:
- Highway 115 to Highway 407 East. The provincially owned Highway 407 East, from Highway 35/115 to Brock Road in Pickering, became toll-free on June 1, 2025. It bypasses the busiest part of the 401 through Oshawa, Whitby and Ajax.
- The 407 ETR from Brock Road to Burlington. West of Brock Road the highway is the privately operated 407 ETR, which runs 108 km to the QEW in Burlington. There are no toll booths; the toll is calculated electronically by distance and time of day. It is usually the quickest way around Toronto at busy times.
- Staying on the 401. Through the city to Highway 427 and the QEW. Sometimes faster early on a Sunday morning, often much slower on a weekday afternoon.
From Burlington, the QEW crosses the Burlington Skyway and runs along the lake through Grimsby and St. Catharines to the Falls. If you want the toll highway avoided or used, note it in the booking.
Kingston to Niagara Falls and back: three ways to do it
A long day trip (summer works best)
- 6:00 Pickup in Kingston.
- 6:00 – 10:45 West on the 401 with a breakfast stop.
- 10:45 – 15:30 The Falls: Table Rock, a boat ride or the tunnels, lunch above the gorge, and a short drive along the Niagara Parkway.
- 15:30 – 20:30 Home, with a dinner stop if you want one.
That is close to ten hours of driving for under five hours at the Falls. Some people are happy with that; most are not.
The overnight (what we usually recommend)
Leave mid-morning, arrive mid-afternoon, check in, and see the Falls illumination and fireworks in the evening when they are scheduled. The next morning, drive the Parkway to Niagara-on-the-Lake for brunch and a winery before heading home. For a quieter stay, look at the Niagara-on-the-Lake inns; for a fuller second day, our Niagara Falls tour packages and the wine tour limo page show what fits.
One way
A Queen's student's family heading home through Niagara to the US, a couple ending a holiday at the Falls, or a guest flying out of Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF): many Kingston trips are a single leg. The booker prices a one-way trip on its own, and our city-to-city rides page explains how longer one-way trips work.

When to leave Kingston
Timing matters more than route. A westbound departure that reaches Toronto after the morning rush and before the afternoon one, roughly between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., usually gives the smoothest crossing of the GTA. Friday afternoons in summer are the slowest of the week heading toward Niagara, and the Sunday return toward Kingston is often busy east of Oshawa. In winter, snow can slow the 401 anywhere along the lake, and the chauffeur builds that into the plan rather than racing it.
Kingston airport limo: YGK and Toronto Pearson
Kingston Airport (YGK) is owned and run by the City of Kingston, at 1114 Len Birchall Way, about 8 km west of the historic downtown according to the city's airport page. It handles corporate, medical and general aviation flights, which makes it useful for anyone arriving by private aircraft. We meet those arrivals at the terminal door; our private jet charter section explains how ground legs are planned around a private flight.
For airline travel, Kingston relies on Toronto. The City reports that the Air Canada service operated by Landline is a motorcoach link between YGK and Toronto Pearson, with four round trips a day from May 1, 2026, and bag tags printed in Kingston (city announcement). If your ticket includes that coach, you may not need us for the airport at all. If it does not, or if your flight time does not fit the coach timetable, a private car is the alternative:
- Kingston to Toronto Pearson (YYZ): about 281 km, usually 3 h to 3 h 45.
- Departures: we work back from your flight and add a buffer for the Toronto approach.
- Arrivals: your flight is tracked; meet and greet inside arrivals is a booker option.
The Toronto Pearson airport transfer page has terminal-by-terminal detail.
Limo rental and party bus in Kingston
Kingston is a university and military-college city with a busy downtown, so nights out are a large share of local bookings.
Concerts and Frontenacs games. The downtown arena, renamed Slush Puppie Place in 2024 and home of the OHL's Kingston Frontenacs, sits at 1 The Tragically Hip Way. For a group of up to 12, the Party Bus or an Executive Sprinter drops everyone at the door and collects them after the encore. Our concerts and sports transportation page covers how pickup times after events are handled.
Formals, grads and proms. High-school proms and university formals follow a strict plan: one pickup list, a fixed route, a confirmed return. Parents receive the confirmation. See the prom limo page.
Weddings. Kingston's limestone churches, waterfront parks and country venues toward Prince Edward County and the Thousand Islands keep wedding parties moving across a wide area. A stretch limousine for the couple and a Sprinter for the party is the common pairing.
Birthdays, stags and stagettes. The party bus page explains vehicle sizes and timing. No alcohol is consumed in our vehicles under any booking: Ontario law has no limousine exception, and our chauffeurs will not allow it.
Corporate and hourly work around the city
A black car by the hour suits a day of meetings between the downtown waterfront hotels, Queen's University, the Royal Military College and the business parks along the 401. The chauffeur waits, keeps to the schedule and is discreet; NDAs are available on request. Kingston's VIA Rail station is at 1800 John Counter Boulevard, and we meet trains there with the arrival tracked; see train station transfers.
For visitors with an afternoon free, two classic stops are within a short drive of downtown. Fort Henry, the National Historic Site above the harbour run by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, runs its Fort Fright evenings through October 31, 2026. The Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, begins in Kingston and runs 202 km north to Ottawa.

The train deserves a fair word. VIA Rail runs from Kingston to Toronto Union Station, and from Union, GO Transit trains run to Niagara Falls. For one person with a backpack and a flexible day, that is a good option. Our guide to getting to Niagara by train and bus explains the Niagara end. A private car makes more sense when you are three or more, have children and car seats, are carrying real luggage, need to arrive at a specific hotel or winery, or simply do not want to change trains at Union with bags. Splitting one vehicle across a group also changes the arithmetic considerably.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Kingston to Niagara Falls?
About 391 km, usually 4 h 15 to 5 h 15 by private car. The time depends mostly on how the chauffeur crosses the Toronto area; the toll-free 407 East and the 407 ETR often save time compared with the 401 through the city.
Can a limo pick us up in Kingston for a day trip to the Falls and bring us back?
Yes, though it is a long day: about ten hours on the road for four to five hours at the Falls. In summer some guests are happy with that. Most choose an overnight, which gives you the evening illumination and a morning in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Which airport should Kingston travellers use?
For airline flights, Toronto Pearson (YYZ), about 281 km away. Kingston Airport (YGK) handles corporate and general aviation, and the City lists an Air Canada motorcoach link from YGK to Pearson. For US flights, Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) pairs well with a Niagara stop.
Do you meet trains at Kingston station?
Yes. The VIA Rail station is at 1800 John Counter Boulevard. Give your train number in the booking and the chauffeur tracks the arrival.
Do I pay the 407 tolls myself?
You never handle tolls or transponders yourself in our cars. If you have a preference about using the 407 ETR, add it to the booking notes and the reservations desk will confirm how it is handled before you pay.
Is there drinking allowed on a Kingston party bus?
No. There is no drinking in any of our vehicles, including the Party Bus and stretch limousines. Ontario law gives no exception for limousines.
Can we stop at Prince Edward County or the Thousand Islands on the way?
Yes, as an added stop or an hourly booking. Prince Edward County lies west of Kingston, close to the 401 route; the Thousand Islands are east of the city, so they add time to a Niagara trip.
