Niagara Falls has no big commercial airport of its own, which surprises many first-time visitors. Your Niagara Falls airport transfer will start at one of eight airfields: three in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, three in Western New York, and two small Ontario fields used mostly by private aircraft. NiagaraFallsLimo.net meets flights at all of them, tracks the landing time, and drives you to your hotel, winery or home with one fixed fare agreed before you pay.
Which airport is best for a Niagara Falls airport transfer?
For most visitors, Toronto Pearson (YYZ) offers the most flights, about 125 km (78 mi) from Niagara Falls, Ontario, usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 off-peak. Buffalo Niagara (BUF) is closer at about 45 km (28 mi) but adds a border crossing. NiagaraFallsLimo.net covers both; enter your flight in the booker to see a fixed fare.
The right answer depends on where your flight starts, which side of the river you are staying on, and whether everyone in your party has the documents to cross a border by land. The table below sets the airports side by side. Distances are approximate road kilometres to the Horseshoe Falls area, rounded, with no border wait included.
| Airport | Distance to the Falls (ON) | Typical drive, off-peak | Border crossing? | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toronto Pearson (YYZ) | about 122–125 km (76–78 mi) | 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 | No | Largest choice of flights; QEW traffic decides the timing |
| Billy Bishop Toronto City (YTZ) | about 127–130 km (80 mi) | 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 | No | Downtown island airport; US preclearance since March 2026 |
| Hamilton (YHM) | about 90 km (56 mi) | 1 h – 1 h 20 | No | Porter and WestJet; no Toronto traffic on the way |
| Buffalo Niagara (BUF) | about 42–45 km (26–28 mi) | 40–55 min plus the bridge | Yes | Many US domestic flights; plan documents |
| Niagara Falls International (IAG) | about 14–16 km (9–10 mi) | 20–30 min plus the bridge | Yes | Allegiant flights to Florida and South Carolina |
| Greater Rochester (ROC) | about 138–140 km (86–87 mi) | 1 h 45 – 2 h plus the bridge | Yes | An alternative US gateway |
| Niagara District (YCM) | about 17–20 km (11–12 mi) | 20–25 min | No | Private and charter aircraft near Niagara-on-the-Lake |
| Region of Waterloo (YKF) | about 138 km (86 mi) | 1 h 40 – 2 h | No | Regional flights west of Toronto |
Toronto Pearson: the default gateway
Most overseas and cross-Canada travellers land at Toronto Pearson for the drive to Niagara Falls. The route is Highway 427 or 403 to the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), then around the west end of Lake Ontario, over the Burlington Skyway, and through the fruit belt into Niagara. On a summer Friday afternoon, allow 2 hours or more. Starting from a downtown hotel instead? See Toronto to Niagara Falls by car.
Pearson's pre-arranged services page names Terminal 1 Door A and Terminal 3 Door A as the pickup points for pre-booked cars, and drivers must register each pickup online. If you book meet & greet, the chauffeur waits inside arrivals with a name board instead, which helps when you clear customs with tired children or heavy bags.
Billy Bishop: downtown, by tunnel or ferry
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to Niagara Falls suits travellers already flying Porter into downtown Toronto. The island terminal connects to the mainland by a pedestrian tunnel or a short ferry, and the airport says the curb-to-check-in walk through the tunnel takes under six minutes. Since March 10, 2026, Billy Bishop offers US Customs and Border Protection preclearance, which matters for the return trip if you are flying on to a US city. The drive out of downtown along the Gardiner Expressway is the slow part, so we time pickups with that in mind.

Hamilton: the quiet back door
Hamilton airport to Niagara Falls is the shortest of the Canadian commercial options. Hamilton's airport lists Porter Airlines and WestJet, including WestJet's year-round Calgary service and seasonal sun flights. The airport's transportation page says shuttle and limousine service is not regularly scheduled and must be pre-arranged, which is exactly what a booked chauffeur does. You avoid Toronto traffic entirely; the drive runs down the escarpment to the QEW and east to the Falls.
Buffalo Niagara: closer, but across the river
Buffalo airport to Niagara Falls, Canada is the most searched transfer on the US side, and for good reason. Buffalo describes up to 100 nonstop flights a day to 31 destinations, and the drive to the Canadian Falls is short. The catch is the border, which our cross-border car service handles as routine. Your chauffeur picks a crossing, usually the Peace Bridge at Fort Erie, the Rainbow Bridge or the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, based on where you are staying and how each bridge is running. Buffalo's airport even keeps a separate Canadian ground transportation page for operators carrying passengers into Canada.
Before you choose Buffalo, read the border crossing hub and check that everyone has the right papers for entering Canada by land. Visa-exempt visitors arriving by car do not need an eTA, which is required only for air travel to Canada, but they still need a valid passport.
Niagara Falls International: Allegiant's small field
Niagara Falls International Airport sits in Niagara Falls, New York, close to the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. In 2026 its Where We Fly page lists only Allegiant Air, to Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Myrtle Beach, Orlando/Sanford and Tampa/St. Petersburg. The airport itself warns that rideshare services may not cross the border, so a car booked in advance for the Canadian side saves a scramble at the curb.
Rochester, Niagara District and Waterloo
Three more airports round out the list:
- Rochester airport to Niagara Falls: Greater Rochester describes about 120 flights a day to 19 nonstop destinations. It is worth checking when Buffalo fares or schedules do not suit, but the drive is longer and still crosses the border.
- Niagara District Airport: a regional field in Niagara-on-the-Lake used by private and charter aviation, about 20 minutes from the Falls and closer still to the wineries.
- Kitchener-Waterloo airport to Niagara Falls: an option for travellers living in Waterloo Region, with the drive running across Highway 8 and the 403 to the QEW.
Private jets and FBO arrivals
Corporate and charter guests rarely use the main terminal. Our private jet and FBO transfer service meets aircraft at Signature Toronto at Pearson, Onward Aviation at Hamilton, Signature Buffalo Niagara and the FBO at Niagara Falls International. Tell us the tail number and the FBO when you book so the chauffeur is waiting where the crew expects.
Meet & greet, flight tracking and waiting
On every airport pickup we track your flight, so an early landing or a two-hour delay does not leave you stranded or paying for a car that left. Meet and greet at the airport is a booker option: the chauffeur waits past customs with a name board and walks you to the car. For international arrivals at Pearson, where immigration and baggage can take time, it is the option we would choose for our own families.
Airport transfer vs train, bus, shuttle and rideshare
| Way to travel (Pearson to the Falls) | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rideshare app | About 1 h 20 – 1 h 50 plus pickup wait | Surge pricing | Depends on the car | Solo travellers with light bags |
| Airport taxi | Similar drive time | Metered or flat by the operator | Standard trunk | Last-minute single travellers |
| UP Express, then GO train | Train to Union, change, train to Niagara, then a ride to your hotel | Fares set by Metrolinx | What you can carry on two trains | Light packers who like rail |
| Intercity bus (FlixBus from Pearson T1) | About 1 h 30 minimum plus the last mile | FlixBus listed fares from $20.98 as of 2026 | One bag plus carry-on | Budget solo travel |
| Shared shuttle | Several hotel stops | Per seat, set by the shuttle | One or two bags | Couples on a tight budget |
| Private chauffeur | About 1 h 20 – 1 h 40, door to door | Fixed fare via the booker | Matched to the vehicle | Families, groups, late flights, border crossings |
When is the train or bus the better choice? If you are travelling alone with a backpack, landing in the daytime, and staying near the Niagara Falls bus terminal or the station on Bridge Street, public transport works. Our guide to getting to Niagara by train and bus lays out those options honestly. A chauffeur makes more sense with child seats, more than two large bags, a flight after the last convenient train, a border to cross, or a group that would otherwise need two taxis. Frequently asked questions
What is the best way to get from Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls?
For a family or anyone with luggage, a pre-booked car is the most direct: about 125 km, usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 off-peak, straight to your hotel door. Solo travellers with light bags can use UP Express and the GO train or a bus. The booker shows our fixed fare before you pay, so you can compare.
Is it better to fly into Toronto or Buffalo for Niagara Falls?
Buffalo is closer, about 45 km against roughly 125 km from Pearson, but the trip crosses the border, so every passenger needs valid documents. Toronto has more international flights and no crossing for most Canadian-side stays. Choose by flight price and schedule, then by your group's documents.
Is there a train from Toronto Pearson Airport to Niagara Falls?
Not directly. You can take UP Express from Pearson to Union Station and change to a GO train to Niagara Falls, then take a ride from the station on Bridge Street to your hotel. It works for light packers. With bags or children, a direct car is usually simpler.
How long does it take to get from Buffalo Airport to Niagara Falls, Canada?
The drive is about 42–45 km and usually 40–55 minutes without a border queue. The bridge adds a wait that changes by the hour and cannot be promised in advance. We check the crossings on the day and choose the most practical one for your hotel.
Can you Uber from Buffalo to Niagara Falls, Canada?
Some rideshare drivers do cross, but you cannot count on it. Niagara Falls International Airport warns that rideshare services may not cross the border. A pre-booked cross-border car removes that uncertainty and keeps the same vehicle and driver on both sides.
What if my flight is delayed?
We track every airport pickup, so the chauffeur's arrival follows your real landing time. If your flight is cancelled and rebooked, update the flight number in your booking or contact the reservations desk.
Is there a free shuttle to Niagara Falls from the airport?
We have not found a free public shuttle from Pearson or Buffalo to Niagara Falls. Shared shuttles and buses charge per seat. Some hotels run their own guest services, so ask your hotel before you travel.
