The most common surprise on an airport pickup is not a late flight. It is a family of five, six large suitcases, a stroller and a golf bag meeting a vehicle that was booked by counting people. Limo luggage capacity is the number to check first on any airport run, because seats and boot space trade off against each other in every vehicle we run. This guide lists what each NiagaraFallsLimo.net class takes, what counts as a bag, and how to plan arrivals at Toronto Pearson, Billy Bishop, Hamilton, Buffalo and Niagara Falls International so everything arrives together.

How much luggage fits in each limo for a Niagara airport run?

Limo luggage capacity varies by class. At NiagaraFallsLimo.net, a Standard Sedan takes 2 large bags, an SUV 6 and an Executive Jet Sprinter 2, while the 12-seat Executive Sprinter takes carry-on only. From Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls, about 122 km (76 mi), choose by bags as well as people in the online booker.

The rule of thumb: if every passenger has a checked suitcase, you need a vehicle whose bag number is at least as large as its passenger number. Only the SUVs meet that for a full load. Everything else either takes fewer bags than people or is designed for occasions rather than airports.

Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch and party bus are "availability confirmed at booking". Coaches for larger groups are available on request, and a coach is the right answer for a wedding party or conference group with full luggage.

What counts as a "bag"

In our booker a bag means one standard checked suitcase. A carry-on roller and a backpack together usually take less space than one large case, which is why a sedan with "2 large" can often take two checked cases plus small carry-ons. The items that cause trouble are the ones that are not suitcase-shaped:

  • Golf bags. Long and rigid; in a sedan they compete with suitcases for the same space. Our golf transportation page covers foursomes with clubs.
  • Strollers and car-seat bags. Fold them and count each as a bag.
  • Wheelchairs and mobility aids. Choose the wheelchair option in the booker and describe the chair; Pearson itself advises asking the operator directly whether a non-folding aid can be carried. Our accessible transportation page explains the planning.
  • Skis, instrument cases, bicycles in boxes, wedding dresses in garment bags. Mention them by name in the notes.

Departure runs often carry more than arrivals did. A case of wine from a tasting day, shopping from the Outlet Collection at Niagara in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and souvenirs all add up, so count the return trip to the airport separately rather than copying the arrival booking. Sealed bottles travel packed with the luggage.

If in doubt, overstate the luggage. A vehicle with spare space costs you nothing on the day; a vehicle that is short of space can mean a second car or a second trip.

Three mistakes we see on airport bookings

Booking by seats only. Six people fit in a sedan plus an SUV, or in one SUV. Six people with six cases fit only in the SUV, or in two smaller cars. Count bags before seats.

Assuming the biggest van takes the most luggage. The twelve-seat Executive Sprinter takes carry-on only, because seats fill the cabin. Groups flying in with checked cases usually pair a Sprinter with an SUV, or book two SUVs. Our post on Mercedes Sprinter limo vans explains why.

Booking a stretch for an arrival. Stretch limousines are wonderful at a wedding and impractical at a terminal: both stretch classes list minimal luggage.

Match your vehicle to your bags

Airport by airport: the curb, the clock and the luggage

Each airport handles pickups differently, and that affects how long a car can wait while bags are loaded. Our airport transfers hub has a page for each.

Toronto Pearson (YYZ). About 122 km (76 mi) to the Falls, usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 off-peak and 2 h or more on summer Friday afternoons. Pearson directs pre-arranged rides to designated pickup areas, which it lists as Terminal 1 Door A and Terminal 3 Door A (Pearson pre-arranged services). With a lot of luggage, meet and greet helps: the chauffeur meets you inside and you walk to the car together. Details on our Toronto Pearson transfers page.

Billy Bishop Toronto City (YTZ). About 127 km (79 mi), usually 1 h 40 – 2 h. Passengers walk the pedestrian tunnel or take the ferry to the mainland pavilion, and free curbside spots allow a maximum five-minute wait (Billy Bishop pick-up and drop-off). Bags have to go in fast, so tell us the count accurately. See Billy Bishop transfers.

Hamilton (YHM). About 90 km (56 mi), usually 1 h 15 – 1 h 30. The airport says shuttle and limousine service must be pre-arranged with the provider, and taxis use the curb outside the arrivals doors (Hamilton airport transportation). Our Hamilton airport page has the rest.

Buffalo Niagara (BUF). About 42 km (26 mi) to the Fallsview hotels, usually 45 minutes to an hour plus the border crossing. BUF publishes a separate page for operators carrying passengers to Canada (BUF Canadian ground transportation). Remember that every passenger carries their own documents at the bridge, and luggage may be inspected. Our Buffalo airport transfers page explains the crossing.

Niagara Falls International (IAG). About 14 km (9 mi) from Fallsview, usually 20 – 30 minutes plus the border. IAG's ground transportation page notes that rideshare services may not cross the border.

Private jets. At an FBO, bags come off the aircraft close to the car. The Executive Jet Sprinter or an SUV is usual; see our private jet and FBO transfers.

For large groups, splitting by job (people in the van, cases in the SUV) keeps everyone together and the bags safe. Our vehicle comparison for sedans, SUVs and Sprinters goes deeper on group choices.

Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip

For a family of five with six large suitcases landing at Buffalo Niagara, heading to a Fallsview hotel:

ModeDoor-to-door timeCost noteLuggageBest for
Rideshare (XL)Wait for an XL match; border crossing uncertainSurge pricingNot guaranteed for six casesSolo or couple travelling light on the US side
TaxiQueue, then possibly two cabsMetered or set airport fare; confirm first2 – 3 bags per cabShort trips on one side
Shared airport shuttleFixed departures, stops for other passengersPer-seat fareUsually one or two bags eachSolo travellers with time to spare

Chauffeured SUVWaiting at arrival, direct, crosses with youFixed fare via bookerUp to 6 bagsFamilies and groups with checked bags

Verdict: two travellers with carry-on bags can manage a shuttle or rideshare without much risk. With six large cases and five people, splitting into cabs or hoping an XL car has enough space is a poor bet, especially with a border to cross. A single SUV sized for the bags is the calm option. We compare shared and private options in private car versus shared airport shuttle to Niagara Falls.

Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps

  1. Enter the airport and the hotel, with the date, time and flight number.
  2. Pick the class by bags first, then people. The booker shows each class's fixed fare; compare an SUV with two smaller vehicles for big groups.
  3. Enter the real luggage count and note anything odd-shaped, add meet and greet or child seats, then pay. You can start from the online booker at any time.

Who this matters to

Individuals with a case and a laptop bag fit any sedan. Couples on a long holiday with two large cases each should book an SUV rather than a sedan. Families almost always need the SUV once there are car seats and a stroller. Groups should plan by luggage, often splitting people and bags across two vehicles. The full list of classes is on our fleet page.

Frequently asked questions

How many suitcases fit in a limo?

It depends on the class. In NiagaraFallsLimo.net's booker, a Standard Sedan takes 2 large bags, the SUVs take 6, the Executive Jet Sprinter 2, and the 12-seat Executive Sprinter carry-on only. Stretch limousines list minimal luggage, so they are not suited to airport runs.

Does a Sprinter van hold more luggage than an SUV?

No. The Executive Sprinter seats up to 12 but takes carry-on bags only, because the seats fill the cabin. A Standard or Executive Black SUV takes up to six large bags. Groups with checked luggage often pair a Sprinter with an SUV.

Can I bring a golf bag in a sedan?

A golf bag takes the space of at least one large case, so a Standard Sedan with two golfers and their clubs has little room left for suitcases. For two golfers with luggage, or a foursome, book an SUV and list the clubs in the notes.

What if I have more luggage than I booked for?

Tell the reservations desk before the pickup, ideally when you check in for the flight. A vehicle can only carry what fits safely. Accurate counts in the booker are the best protection; overstating luggage costs nothing on the day.

Is a stroller counted as a bag?

Yes, count a folded stroller as one bag, and a car-seat bag as another. Child seats you add in the booker are fitted before pickup, but each child in a seat still counts as a passenger.

Can the chauffeur wait while we collect bags at Pearson?

Airport pickups are flight tracked, so the pickup follows your real landing time. With meet and greet, the chauffeur waits inside arrivals with a name board and walks with you to the car after baggage claim.
