Niagara-on-the-Lake sits where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario, about 25 km north of the Falls, and its hotels are a different world from the towers on Fallsview Boulevard: Georgian inns on Queen Street, a waterfront hotel by the Shaw Festival, small luxury properties among the vines. Choosing among the Niagara-on-the-Lake hotels is mostly a question of atmosphere. Getting to them is a question of logistics, because the town has no train station and few late taxis. NiagaraFallsLimo.net handles that part: airport arrivals, theatre evenings, winery afternoons and the drive home.
How do I get to a Niagara-on-the-Lake hotel from Toronto Pearson?
The most direct way is a pre-booked car: NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives from Pearson to your inn's door in Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 124 km (77 mi), usually 1 h 35 – 1 h 55 off-peak. Enter the terminal and the hotel in the booker, choose a vehicle and see the fixed fare before you pay.
Public transport from Pearson to the Old Town means at least one change, so travellers without a car usually combine a train or bus to Niagara Falls with a taxi or shuttle for the last 25 km. A chauffeur removes the change of vehicle, which matters most with luggage and children.
Niagara-on-the-Lake hotels in the Old Town
The historic district is compact, and most of its hotels are within a few minutes of each other. Some of the names our chauffeurs drive to most:
- Prince of Wales Hotel, 6 Picton Street, in the heart of the Old Town. Run by Vintage Hotels.
- Queen's Landing, 155 Byron Street, overlooking the river mouth and a short walk from the Shaw Festival Theatre. Also Vintage Hotels.
- Pillar and Post Hotel & Spa, 48 John Street West, a few blocks south of the main street. Vintage Hotels again.
- 124 on Queen Hotel & Spa, 124 Queen Street, with 76 rooms, the Spa at Q and, as the hotel's site puts it, the only underground parking in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
- Oban Inn, 160 Front Street, near the lakeshore.
- The Shaw Club on Queen Street and Harbour House by the water, both from Niagara's Finest Hotels.
Vintage Hotels, which runs three of the Old Town's best-known hotels, also operates Moffat Inn here and Inn on the Twenty and Millcroft Inn & Spa elsewhere in Ontario. Plenty of smaller inns and bed-and-breakfasts fill the side streets as well; we collect from all of them.
Wine-country properties outside the Old Town
Some of the area's most sought-after stays are out among the vineyards:

- Riverbend Inn & Vineyard, 16104 Niagara River Parkway, a Georgian mansion on 17 acres with 21 rooms and the Oaklands restaurant. In autumn 2026 it is also hosting the Peller Estates restaurant team while the winery's own dining room is renovated, through 12 November.
- White Oaks Resort, a larger resort property with its own pickup guide on our site.
These are the addresses where a car matters most. They are pleasant to stay at and easy to leave by car, and not walkable to Queen Street at night.
Where the car stops in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Queen Street is narrow, lined with shops, and full of pedestrians from late morning to dinner. We do not ask you to wait on the sidewalk. The chauffeur pulls up at your hotel's front entrance or forecourt, at the booked time. A few things specific to the town:
- Several inns have small or shared drives. If yours is on a quiet residential street, tell us in the booker notes which door to use.
- After a performance at the Shaw Festival, dozens of cars and taxis converge at once. Give us a meeting point a short walk from the theatre door and the chauffeur will text you.
- Large vehicles such as Sprinters and stretch limousines may not fit every inn's driveway; in that case the car waits at the nearest legal spot on the street.

Arriving from each airport
Toronto Pearson is the usual gateway. With meet & greet the chauffeur waits inside arrivals with a name board; otherwise you meet at Pearson's pre-arranged pickup doors (Terminal 1 Door A, Terminal 3 Door A). The route is the QEW to the Niagara-on-the-Lake exits, then the country roads into town. Our Pearson transfer page and the Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake route cover both starting points.
Buffalo Niagara works well for US travellers. The car follows the interstate north and crosses at Lewiston-Queenston, then climbs onto the Parkway toward town. Each passenger brings their own documents for Canada; see Buffalo Niagara airport transfers and the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge guide.
Hamilton suits Porter and WestJet flyers; see Hamilton airport. Private aircraft can use the small Niagara District Airport just outside town; our Niagara District Airport page explains the meet.
A theatre night at the Shaw Festival
The Shaw Festival is the main reason many people stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake rather than in the Falls. Its 2026 season runs from 2 April to 23 December, with holiday productions in November and December at the Festival Theatre and the rebuilt Court House Theatre, according to the festival's 2026 season release. If you are staying in the Old Town you will probably walk. If you are at a vineyard inn, or staying in Niagara Falls and driving up for one show, book a return trip: dinner, the performance and the ride home, with the chauffeur waiting at an agreed spot.
A wine day from your inn
From the Old Town, the first tasting room can be five minutes away. That proximity is exactly why a chauffeur makes sense: no one in your party has to keep count of their tastings. Book "By the hour", tell the chauffeur your list, and the car waits at each winery door. Plan the route with our Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries guide and the one-day wine tour itinerary, and see how the service runs on the wine tour limo page.
One rule to know in advance: there is no drinking in our vehicles. Niagara Region's by-law does not let a vehicle-for-hire driver permit alcohol on board, and Ontario's Liquor Licence and Control Act has no limousine exception. Sealed bottles and cases you buy ride safely in the back.

- Shopping: the Outlet Collection at Niagara, 300 Taylor Road, is a short drive toward the QEW.

Who stays in Niagara-on-the-Lake
- Couples are the town's core visitors: anniversaries, theatre weekends and wine trips. A Mercedes-Benz E- or S-Class, or a Rolls-Royce where availability is confirmed, suits a dinner reservation. See Niagara Falls for couples.
- Individuals come for the theatre or a conference at one of the larger hotels and want a reliable sedan to Pearson.
- Families stay for history and the lake, and book an SUV with car seats for the airport and the Falls day.
- Groups come for weddings at wineries and inns. An Executive Sprinter of up to 12, or a coach on request, keeps guests together between ceremony, reception and hotels; see our wedding limo page.

Getting to Niagara-on-the-Lake hotels and inns: the options
| Option | Door-to-door time from Pearson | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NiagaraFallsLimo.net chauffeur | 1 h 35 – 2 h, terminal to inn | Fixed fare via the booker | Chosen vehicle | Couples, families, groups, late arrivals |
| Rideshare | Similar drive if a driver accepts; return trips from town may be harder to find | Surge pricing at peak | One car | Solo travellers in daytime |
| Taxi | Similar drive | Metered | One car | Short local rides |
| GO train or bus to Niagara Falls, then taxi or local transit | 3 h+ with connections | Published fares, plus the last leg | Light bags only | Budget travellers with time |
| WEGO Niagara-on-the-Lake shuttle (between NOTL and the Falls) | Not an airport option; transfers at the Floral Clock | Included in WEGO 24- and 48-hour passes (adult 24-hour $16, as of 2026) | Day bag | Car-free day trips between town and the Falls |
| Drive yourself | 1 h 35 – 2 h | Fuel, rental, inn parking | Your boot | Travellers touring Ontario by car |
When is a chauffeur not needed? If you are staying in the Old Town, arriving by car and planning to walk to the theatre and the restaurants, you may only want us for one wine afternoon. The WEGO shuttle is a fair way to reach the Falls without a car. Where a pre-booked chauffeur wins is the airport, winery days, a wedding, a vineyard inn outside town and any trip across the border. For a broader comparison, see chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare.
Other places to stay
If you would rather be close to the Falls, see our Fallsview hotels and Clifton Hill and Lundy's Lane guides. The hotels hub lists every property we cover on both sides of the river.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Niagara-on-the-Lake from Niagara Falls?
About 22 to 26 km (14 to 16 mi), depending on where in each town you start. The drive along the Niagara Parkway usually takes 30 to 40 minutes and passes the Floral Clock and Queenston Heights; the faster route via the highway takes about 25 to 30 minutes.
Can you Uber in Niagara-on-the-Lake?
Rideshare apps do operate in the Niagara region, but in a small town availability may be limited, especially late in the evening and out among the vineyards. If you need a car at a set time, for the theatre, a winery dinner or a flight, a pre-booked chauffeur with a fixed fare is the more dependable choice.
How do I get to Niagara-on-the-Lake without a car?
From Toronto, take the GO train or an intercity bus to Niagara Falls, then a taxi or local transit for the last 25 km, or book a chauffeur from Pearson or downtown directly to your inn. Between the Falls and the town, the Niagara Parks WEGO shuttle connects via the Floral Clock.
How much is a car from Pearson to a Niagara-on-the-Lake hotel?
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. Enter your Pearson terminal and the inn's address with your date and time, then compare vehicles. The price is not affected by traffic or demand.
Which Niagara-on-the-Lake hotels are walking distance from the Shaw Festival?
Queen's Landing at 155 Byron Street is a short walk from the Shaw Festival Theatre, and the Old Town hotels on and around Queen Street, including the Prince of Wales and 124 on Queen, are all in the walkable historic district. Vineyard properties outside town need a car.
Can the chauffeur take us to several wineries from our inn?
Yes. Book by the hour from your hotel. The closest wineries are about five minutes from the Old Town, and the chauffeur waits at each stop. There is no drinking in the vehicle, but sealed bottles and cases you buy travel in the back.
Can you pick us up in Niagara-on-the-Lake for a Buffalo flight?
Yes. Buffalo Niagara International is about 65 km (40 mi) away via the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, usually 1 h to 1 h 15 plus the border. Each passenger needs their own valid documents for the United States. We cannot predict crossing times, so we build in a margin.
