Hotels · attractions · airports · bridges

Door-to-door chauffeured cars between every Fallsview and Clifton Hill hotel, the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, all four Niagara border bridges, Toronto Pearson, Buffalo Niagara, Hamilton and Billy Bishop airports, and the attractions on both sides of the river.

The Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries are the reason many visitors add a second day to a Falls trip, and the heart of Niagara wine country. Within a short drive of the Old Town clock tower you will find estate tasting rooms on Niagara Stone Road, river-view cellars on the Niagara Parkway and quieter bench vineyards around St. Davids. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives these roads daily, so this page sets out the geography, the timing and the practical rules, then shows how to book a chauffeur so that nobody in your party has to choose between tasting and driving.

How do you visit Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries without driving?

The simplest way is a pre-booked chauffeur. NiagaraFallsLimo.net collects you at your hotel, about 23 km (15 mi) and 25–35 minutes from Fallsview, then waits at each Niagara-on-the-Lake winery on an hourly booking. Enter your pickup, choose "By the hour", pick a vehicle and the booker shows the fixed fare before you pay.

Other options exist and we compare them honestly further down. For most couples, families and groups, though, the chauffeured day wins on one point above all: the person who would otherwise drive gets to taste too. If you want the full planned version with timings, our one-day wine tour itinerary walks through a sample day minute by minute.

Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries: the four wine roads

Niagara-on-the-Lake (locals shorten it to NOTL) is a town of roughly two dozen wineries spread across farmland between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment. It helps to think of it as four corridors rather than one long list.

  • Niagara Stone Road (Regional Road 55) through Virgil. The busiest wine street in town. Trius, Jackson-Triggs, Stratus, Pillitteri, Lakeview Wine Co. and Southbrook all sit along it, and so do Wayne Gretzky Estates and the Niagara Oast House brewery.
  • John Street East and the edge of Old Town. Peller Estates and Two Sisters Vineyards are neighbours here, a few minutes from Queen Street and the Shaw Festival theatres.
  • The Niagara Parkway along the river. Inniskillin, at Line 3 and the Parkway, and Reif Estate on the Parkway itself. The drive between them follows the river and is the prettiest stretch of the day.
  • St. Davids and York Road, near the escarpment. Château des Charmes and Ravine Vineyard sit in the quieter southern corner, closer to the Queenston end of town.

A fifth, smaller cluster runs along Lakeshore Road, where Konzelmann Estate looks out over Lake Ontario. VQA Ontario maps these areas into sub-appellations, including Four Mile Creek, Niagara River, Niagara Lakeshore and St. David's Bench, all part of the larger Niagara Peninsula appellation, which VQA describes as the largest planted area of any viticultural area in Canada.

  • Peller Estates Winery & Restaurant, 290 John St E. Large estate, tasting experiences and a restaurant (see the lunch note below).
  • Two Sisters Vineyards, 240 John St E. Home of Kitchen76, an Italian dining room on the estate.
  • Trius Winery & Restaurant, 1249 Niagara Stone Rd. Its sparkling wines age in what it calls Canada's largest underground sparkling cellar.
  • Jackson-Triggs Niagara Estate, 2145 Niagara Stone Rd. Known for its summer concert series.
  • Stratus Vineyards, 2059 Niagara Stone Rd. A blending-focused house; founding winemaker J-L Groux built its reputation on assemblage.
  • Pillitteri Estates Winery, 1696 Niagara Stone Rd.
  • Southbrook Vineyards, 581 Niagara Stone Rd. Bills itself as organic and biodynamic.
  • Lakeview Wine Co., 1067 Niagara Stone Rd.
  • Wayne Gretzky Estates, 1219 Niagara Stone Rd. A combined winery and distillery, which helps when one person in the group prefers whisky.
  • Inniskillin, 1499 Line 3 at the Niagara Parkway. Ontario's first post-Prohibition winery licence was issued to it in 1975.
  • Reif Estate Winery, 15608 Niagara Parkway.
  • Château des Charmes, 1025 York Rd, St. Davids.
  • Ravine Vineyard, 1366 York Rd, St. Davids.
  • Konzelmann Estate Winery, 1096 Lakeshore Rd.

Distances and drive times to NOTL wine country

All distances are by road and rounded; times are typical off-peak and stretch on summer weekends, during harvest festivals and when the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way, the main highway between Toronto and Niagara) is slow.

FromToDistanceTypical drive
Fallsview hotels, Niagara FallsPeller Estates, John St Eabout 23 km (14 mi)25–35 min

Downtown TorontoOld Town NOTLabout 127 km (79 mi)1 h 20 – 1 h 45
Buffalo Niagara (BUF)Old Town NOTLabout 57 km (35 mi)about 1 h plus the border crossing

The short hops matter more than the long ones. Because Peller, Two Sisters, Trius and Jackson-Triggs are each under ten minutes apart, a chauffeur adds very little road time between tastings. Coming in from the city? Our Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake route page covers the QEW options in detail, and the Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake route explains the Parkway versus highway choice.

How many wineries make a good day

Three or four is the number most guests remember fondly. A tasting usually runs 30 to 60 minutes once you add browsing the shop, and a proper lunch takes 90 minutes. A five-hour booking comfortably covers three wineries and lunch; six hours lets you add a fourth stop or an hour on Queen Street.

A balanced order looks like this:

  1. Start on the Parkway (Inniskillin or Reif) while you are fresh and the river light is good.
  2. Move to Niagara Stone Road for the middle of the day, with lunch at Trius or a nearby estate.
  3. Finish near Old Town at Peller or Two Sisters, so the last stop is close to Queen Street for an ice cream, a walk or dinner.

If you are staying in Niagara Falls, reverse it on a busy Saturday: tour the Old Town end first before the Queen Street crowds build, then work back south towards your hotel.

Tastings, reservations and the Winemakers' Tasting Pass

Policies vary. Some estates take walk-ins at the counter; others prefer reservations for seated flights, cellar tours or groups, and weekend slots in September and October fill early. Book the tastings yourself directly with each winery, then give us the times. We plan the route around them and build in buffer.

The association Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake sells a Winemakers' Tasting Pass that covers a curated tasting at each of its 20-plus member wineries, available year-round. It also runs seasonal weekend programs: Chocolate & Cheese in February and March, Sip & Sizzle in May and Taste the Season on November weekends. All of these are self-guided, which is exactly why a chauffeur pairs well with them. Our Niagara wine festivals guide lists the big region-wide events.

NiagaraFallsLimo.net does not sell tasting fees or hold tasting reservations on your behalf, and we have no partnership with any winery. Your fare covers the vehicle and chauffeur; tastings are paid at each estate.

Lunch between tastings

A winery lunch turns a tasting run into a proper day out. A few current options, as of October 2026:

  • Trius Winery Restaurant says it has been the town's only MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant for three years, with tasting menus and pairings. Details are on the Trius restaurant page.
  • Kitchen76 at Two Sisters serves Italian fine dining at the winery; Two Sisters also runs 11th Post on Queen in Old Town.
  • The Winery Restaurant at Peller Estates is closed for renovation until 13 November 2026, and is cooking at the Riverbend Inn on the Niagara Parkway until 12 November.
  • Treadwell, on Queen Street, is a farm-to-table choice if you want to end in town.

More options are in our Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants guide. We simply drop you at the door and wait or return at the time you set.

No drinking in the vehicle, and how your bottles travel

This rule surprises some visitors, so here it is plainly: there is no drinking in our vehicles. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire By-law 2021-58 says a licensed driver must not permit the consumption of any alcohol in the vehicle, and Ontario's Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 has no limousine exception. The chauffeur never drinks, and passengers taste at the wineries, not between them.

Buying wine is a different matter and very welcome. Sealed bottles ride in the cargo area or trunk. If you are buying by the case, tell us when you book so we can suggest an SUV or Sprinter with room. If you are heading back to the United States with bottles, read our duty-free and declarations guide first, because US customs allowances for alcohol are small and everything must be declared.

Which vehicle suits a winery day

Every class is "or similar", with the exact model confirmed at booking.

  • Couples: a Mercedes-Benz E/S-Class or a Standard Sedan. Two passengers, easy parking at small estates.
  • Up to six: a Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV, with space for six bags or a few cases of wine.
  • Up to twelve: the Executive Sprinter. Note that its cargo space is carry-on size, so very large wine purchases may need the shop's shipping service.
  • Celebrations: a Stretch Limousine (up to 8) or Stretch SUV Limousine (up to 16), availability confirmed at booking. Some small tasting rooms have tight lanes, so we will tell you if a stretch suits your list.

For larger parties, our stretch limo and Sprinter page explains capacities, and the dedicated Niagara wine tour limo service covers group days end to end.

When is something else better? If you only want one winery close to Old Town, a taxi or rideshare is perfectly sensible. A cyclist with a light appetite for tasting will love the Parkway. The chauffeur makes the difference once you plan three or more stops, travel with children who need car seats, buy wine by the case, come straight from the airport, or want to know exactly who is picking you up and when. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide goes deeper.

Who a chauffeured NOTL winery day suits

Individuals often combine two or three tastings with a Shaw Festival matinee; a sedan is plenty. Couples treat it as the anniversary day of the trip; see our page for couples visiting Niagara. Families with adult children use an SUV so the designated driver is no longer a family role, and younger children can ride in booster seats added in the booker. Groups of friends book a Sprinter, set a lunch reservation and leave the timing to us.

Arriving from Toronto, Buffalo or Hamilton

Many guests go straight from the plane to the vineyards. A transfer from Toronto Pearson to Niagara can drop you at your NOTL inn or begin with a winery stop if your flight lands in the morning. From the US side, Buffalo Niagara airport is closer, and the natural crossing is the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, which lands you at Queenston, a few minutes from Inniskillin and Reif. Every passenger needs their own valid documents; we never promise how long a crossing will take. If you want the car for the whole day after landing, an hourly chauffeur booking is the right mode.

Frequently asked questions

How many wineries are in Niagara-on-the-Lake?

Roughly two dozen, depending on how you count small producers. The local association lists 20-plus member wineries on its Winemakers' Tasting Pass, and other estates operate independently. For a single day, choose three or four close together rather than trying to see them all.

Can you Uber in Niagara-on-the-Lake?

Rideshare apps do operate in Niagara Region, and short hops in Old Town are usually fine. Between rural estates, waits can vary and fares surge on busy weekends. If you plan several wineries in one afternoon, a pre-booked chauffeur who stays with you avoids standing in a parking lot waiting for a car.

How do I get to Niagara-on-the-Lake without a car?

From Niagara Falls, a chauffeur covers the 23 km (15 mi) in about 25–35 minutes. From Toronto, the GO train and bus reach Niagara Falls, not the NOTL wineries, so you still need a final leg. A private car from Toronto or Pearson takes about 1 h 20 – 1 h 45 off-peak.

Is it better to visit NOTL wineries on a weekday?

Usually, yes. Weekday tasting rooms are calmer and walk-ins are easier. Saturdays from late August to October, during harvest and festival season, are the busiest. If a weekend is your only option, book tastings in advance and start earlier in the day.

How much is a wine tour limo in Niagara-on-the-Lake?

It depends on the vehicle, the number of hours and where you start. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, stops and vehicle before you pay, so there is no guesswork and no meter running. Tasting fees are separate and paid at each winery.

Do you include tasting fees or book the wineries for us?

No. Your fare is for the vehicle and chauffeur. You book and pay tastings directly with each winery or through a pass, then share the times so the chauffeur can plan the route. This keeps your options open and means you deal with the estates directly.

Which winery is best in Niagara-on-the-Lake?

There is no single answer; it depends on what you like to drink. Sparkling lovers often head to Trius, icewine fans to Inniskillin, and anyone curious about organic and biodynamic farming to Southbrook. Our icewine guide helps if dessert wine is the main event.
