Most visitors see one side of the Falls from one railing and go home. A private tour of Niagara Falls lets you see the whole thing: the Horseshoe Falls from the Canadian brink, the gorge and the Whirlpool downstream, the river road to Niagara-on-the-Lake and, across the Rainbow Bridge, Goat Island and the American Falls from New York. NiagaraFallsLimo.net provides the vehicle and chauffeur by the hour, one of several chauffeur services we run across the region. You choose which attractions to buy tickets for, and the chauffeur moves you between them.
What does a private tour of Niagara Falls include?
A NiagaraFallsLimo.net private tour is a chauffeured car booked "By the hour" from your hotel. A half day covers the Canadian side; a full day adds the US side across the Rainbow Bridge, about 3 km (2 mi) from Table Rock, border queue extra. Attraction tickets are separate. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare before you pay.
We do not sell attraction tickets or guided commentary, and we will not pretend the chauffeur is a licensed tour guide. What you get is the logistics: a known vehicle, a driver who knows where cars can and cannot stop along the Parkway, and someone waiting when you come out of the mist.
Half day or full day?
Half day, about four hours, Canadian side only. Enough for the Table Rock area and one attraction at the brink, a drive north along the Niagara Parkway to the Whirlpool and the Floral Clock, and a stop at a lookout or the Botanical Gardens. No passports needed for this version, because you never leave Canada.
Full day, about eight hours, both countries. Everything above, plus a crossing at the Rainbow Bridge, Niagara Falls State Park and Goat Island on the New York side, and the return crossing in the afternoon. Some guests swap the US side for Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 24 km (15 mi) from the Falls, for lunch and a winery.
If you are staying in Toronto, the trip starts with a drive of about 130 km (81 mi), usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 off-peak. That format has its own page: the Toronto to Niagara Falls day tour. Flying in for the day? A tour can also start or end at Buffalo Niagara International, about 40 km (25 mi) from the Falls.
The Canadian side, stop by stop
The Canadian bank is managed by Niagara Parks, which looks after 56 km of parkland along the river. Most of the classic views are within a short drive of each other.

At the brink of the Horseshoe Falls
The Table Rock Centre sits beside the Horseshoe Falls at 6650 Niagara Parkway. Below it, Journey Behind the Falls takes you down 125 ft by elevator into tunnels that open onto portals and a platform at the foot of the falls. It is open year-round. Upstairs, Niagara Takes Flight is the newest flying-theatre ride. Our Journey Behind the Falls guide covers timing and what to wear.
A short walk south, the Niagara Parks Power Station at 7005 Niagara Parkway has a glass elevator that descends 180 ft to a 2,200-ft tunnel and a platform at the river's edge, included with admission and fully accessible.
On the water
From April to November, Niagara City Cruises sails from the gorge past the American and Bridal Veil Falls into the mist of the Horseshoe. Timed tickets are sold by the operator. If you plan to see the US side too, you could instead ride the Maid of the Mist from New York; doing both is usually more boat than most people want in a day.
Downstream along the gorge
Five minutes north of Table Rock, about 5 km by road, the Whirlpool Aero Car crosses the gorge high above the Niagara Whirlpool. Niagara Parks notes on its Aero Car page that the car crosses the international border four times without ever leaving Canada, so no passport is needed. It runs April to November. Nearby, the White Water Walk drops by elevator to a boardwalk beside the Class 6 rapids, and the Niagara Glen trails lead down into the gorge between sunrise and sunset.
Up the Parkway
Continue to the Floral Clock, about 11 km (7 mi) from Table Rock, usually 15 – 20 minutes, with a face 40 ft across planted with up to 16,000 plants. Queenston Heights and Brock's Monument are a few minutes further on, then Niagara-on-the-Lake about 14 km beyond the clock. The Botanical Gardens and Niagara Glen page has more on the stops in between.
Crossing to the American side: how it works with a chauffeur
The Rainbow Bridge links the Clifton Hill area with downtown Niagara Falls, New York. The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission's bridge guide confirms that cars, buses and limousines may use it; commercial trucks may not. From Table Rock to the New York end is about 3 km (2 mi), usually under 10 minutes of driving, plus however long the inspection queue happens to be. Nobody can promise that queue length, including us.
What to know:
- Your chauffeur crosses with you. It is the same car and the same driver on both sides. For the details of this crossing, read our Rainbow Bridge guide.
- Every passenger needs their own documents. CBP's rules for entering the US by land accept a passport, passport card, enhanced driver's licence or trusted traveller card for US citizens, and a passport, enhanced driver's licence or NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST card for Canadians. Visitors from other countries usually need a passport plus an ESTA or visa, and an I-94. Check what you need to cross into the US well before the day.
- Coming back into Canada. Each traveller again shows ID to CBSA. The bridge toll is charged only in the Canada-bound direction; as of 2026 the Commission lists US$6.00 / CA$8.50 for a passenger car.
- NEXUS is all or nothing. The NEXUS-only Whirlpool Rapids Bridge, and NEXUS lanes anywhere, can be used only if every person in the vehicle, driver included, is a NEXUS member carrying the card.
If anyone in your party lacks the right document, skip the US side. The Canadian side alone fills a day comfortably, and the Canadian bank faces the Horseshoe Falls head-on.
The New York side: Goat Island and the State Park
Niagara Falls State Park bills itself as America's oldest state park, established in 1885 and open all year. Once across, a full-day tour usually takes in:
- Prospect Point and the Observation Tower, where the Maid of the Mist boats board. The 2026 Maid of the Mist season ran April 24 to November 8; the operator's border-crossing page repeats the document rules above for visitors coming from Canada.
- Goat Island and Cave of the Winds, where walkways lead to the Hurricane Deck beside the falls. The State Park's Cave of the Winds page says tickets are sold on site only and free sandals have been phased out, so bring shoes that can get wet.
With extra time, Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown is about 24 km (15 mi) north, roughly 30 minutes. Our pages on Niagara Falls State Park and Maid of the Mist give the practical detail, and the Canadian side vs American side guide helps if you can only do one.
A sample full-day route

Times are illustrative. Seasonal attractions close from late autumn to spring, so a winter tour leans on the year-round sites and the illuminated Falls. The Falls are lit every night, and the Winter Festival of Lights runs from November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027.
A private tour of Niagara Falls vs other ways to see it
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WEGO visitor bus | Hop on, hop off along fixed lines | $16.00 adult 24-hour pass (Niagara Parks, as of 2026) | Day bag | Canadian side only, budget sightseeing |
| Shared coach tour | Set schedule and stops | Per-person ticket from the tour operator | Day bag | Solo travellers who like a guide and a crowd |
| Taxi or rideshare between sites | Wait for each ride | Metered or surge pricing; rideshare may not cross the border | Varies | One or two short legs |
| Driving yourself | Flexible, but you find and pay for parking | Fuel, parking, bridge toll | Your trunk | Visitors with their own car |
| Walking | Slow, free | Free | None | Fallsview to Table Rock and Clifton Hill |
| Private chauffeur (NiagaraFallsLimo.net) | Door to door, waits at each stop, crosses with you | Fixed fare via booker, shown before payment | Space for strollers and day bags | Families, groups, two-country days |
If you are staying near Table Rock and only want the Canadian brink, walk it and use WEGO. A chauffeur earns its place when you want the Parkway, the Aero Car, Niagara-on-the-Lake and the American side in one day without parking at each stop. The chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide goes into more depth.
Who this suits
Individuals: photographers who want early-morning light at the brink and the freedom to linger.
Couples: a two-person Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class or Standard Sedan, perhaps finishing with dinner overlooking the Falls.
Families: car seats installed, a Standard SUV (up to 6 passengers) with room for a stroller, and the option to cut the day short when the youngest runs out of energy. See Niagara Falls with kids.
Groups: an Executive Sprinter (up to 12) or Stretch SUV Limousine (up to 16) keeps everyone together; coaches are available on request for larger parties.
How to book a private tour in 3 steps
- Start with your hotel and time. Enter your pickup and the main stops (Table Rock, the Aero Car, Niagara Falls State Park) and pick "By the hour" for a half or full day.
- Choose the vehicle. Every class shows a fixed fare for the hours you selected.
- Add the people and pay. Passengers, child seats, a note on whether everyone has documents for the US side, then secure payment and an emailed confirmation.
Our how to book a limo guide explains the booker if this is your first time.
Cancellation terms
Plans for a sightseeing day can change with the weather. Measured back from the booked pickup time, a cancellation with over 72 hours to go costs nothing; at 72 hours or less it is 10%; at 48 hours or less, 50%; and at 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100%. If your date falls on a long weekend, check the confirmation for a different deadline. Attraction tickets you buy yourself follow each operator's own rules.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best way to see both sides of Niagara Falls in one day?
Start on the Canadian side in the morning, when the brink is quieter, then cross the Rainbow Bridge after lunch for Goat Island and Prospect Point. A private chauffeur keeps it to one vehicle and handles parking. Everyone needs a passport or other accepted document, and the border queue time cannot be predicted.
Do I need a passport for a private tour of Niagara Falls?
Only if you cross into the United States. A Canadian-side tour, including the Whirlpool Aero Car, does not leave Canada. For the US side, US and Canadian citizens can use a passport or other accepted document such as NEXUS; most other nationalities need a passport, an ESTA or visa, and an I-94.
Is the chauffeur a tour guide?
No. Our chauffeurs know the roads, the bridges and where a car can safely stop, and they are happy to suggest timing, but they are not licensed guides and the tour has no scripted commentary. Many guests prefer that: you set the pace and the stops.
Are attraction tickets included?
No. You buy tickets directly from each attraction, such as Journey Behind the Falls, Niagara City Cruises or Cave of the Winds, which sells its tickets on site only. The booker shows the fixed fare for the vehicle and chauffeur time.
Can we do a private tour in winter?
Yes, with a different list. Journey Behind the Falls, the Power Station and its tunnel, the Butterfly Conservatory and the Floral Showhouse are open year-round, while the Aero Car, White Water Walk and boat cruises close from late autumn to spring. Evenings bring the illuminated Falls and, from mid-November, the Winter Festival of Lights.
How long does the Rainbow Bridge crossing take?
The bridge itself is short, about 3 km door to door from Table Rock to the New York end. The inspection queue is the variable. CBSA and CBP publish live wait estimates, and we check them before crossing, but no one can guarantee a time. Early crossings and weekdays are usually quieter.
Can the tour include Niagara-on-the-Lake?
Yes. Many guests replace the US side with the Niagara Parkway to Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 24 km (15 mi) from the Falls, for lunch, a walk on Queen Street and a winery visit. For a day focused on wineries, see the private wine tour page.
