Ottawa is Canada's capital, a city of ministries, embassies, two universities, an NHL team and a canal that freezes into a skating rink, and the requests that reach our desk reflect all of it. A limo service in Ottawa might mean a quiet black car from the airport to a downtown hotel, an hourly driver for a day of meetings, a party bus to a Senators game, or a family heading all the way to Niagara Falls. NiagaraFallsLimo.net dispatches Ottawa bookings itself: the city is in Ontario, and the chauffeurs are our own, licensed and commercially insured.
How do you get from Ottawa to Niagara Falls without driving yourself?
By private car it is about 577 km, usually 6 h 15 to 7 h 30, on Highway 416, Highway 401, the 407 and the QEW. NiagaraFallsLimo.net picks up anywhere in Ottawa and drives door to door, one way or as an overnight round trip. Enter the trip in the online booker; it shows a fixed fare before you pay.
The alternatives are the train (VIA Rail to Toronto, then a GO or VIA train to Niagara Falls), a flight to Toronto Pearson plus a car for the last 130 km, or driving yourself. Each has a place, and the comparison table further down is honest about when a chauffeur is not the best answer. For this route, see the fares by vehicle below.
We have also covered the decision itself in depth: Ottawa to Niagara Falls private transfer: train, flight or chauffeur?. For the trip in the other direction, see Niagara Falls to Ottawa one-way and our Niagara Falls to Ottawa and Montreal route page, which deals with the ride north from the Falls.
Two roads from the capital to the Falls
Highway 416 and the 401. South from Ottawa on the 416 to the 401 near Prescott, then west along the St. Lawrence and Lake Ontario through Kingston and Belleville. Near Clarington the chauffeur can take Highway 115 onto the provincially owned Highway 407 East, toll-free since June 1, 2025, and continue on the privately run 407 ETR around the north of Toronto to the Queen Elizabeth Way at Burlington. This is the usual choice: all divided highway, with plenty of service centres.
Highway 7 through Perth and Peterborough. A two-lane route west through the Canadian Shield and lake country, joining Highway 115 toward the 407. Shorter on the map, slower in practice, but prettier in October and sometimes useful when the 401 is closed by an accident.
From Burlington the last hour is the QEW along the lake to Niagara Falls. Toll billing on the 407 ETR is electronic, with no booths; you never deal with it yourself in our cars. If you have a preference about the toll highway, write it in the booking notes.
Ottawa to Niagara Falls and back: why we plan it as two days or more
A same-day return would mean thirteen to fifteen hours on the road. We will not pretend that is a pleasant day out, so the plan we suggest for a round trip looks like this:
Day one
- 9:00 Pickup at your Ottawa home or hotel.
- 9:00 – 12:30 The 416 and 401 west, with a coffee stop near Kingston.
- 12:30 – 13:15 Lunch stop.
- 13:15 – 16:00 Around Toronto on the 407 and down the QEW to the Falls.
- 16:00 Check in at a Fallsview hotel, then the Falls at dusk and the illumination after dark.
Day two is the Falls itself: the Journey Behind the Falls, a boat into the mist, lunch, and the Niagara Parkway to Niagara-on-the-Lake. The car can stay with you by the hour or be released and come back.
Day three is the drive home, ideally leaving mid-morning to clear Toronto before the afternoon rush.
Two-night stays suit most Ottawa visitors better than one. Our Niagara Falls tour packages and the Niagara wine tour limo page help fill the middle day.
One way. Many Ottawa bookings are single legs: a family driven down who will fly home from Toronto Pearson or Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF), or a guest moving on to the US. A one-way trip is priced on its own in the booker.
Ottawa airport limo at YOW
Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW), which brands itself Ottawa International Airport, is about 14 km south of downtown, usually 20 to 30 minutes by car outside rush hour. Since January 6, 2025, the O-Train Line 4 has linked the airport with South Keys station, from a station connected to the terminal's third level. For a solo traveller with a carry-on heading to the south end, it is a good option.
A pre-booked Ottawa airport limo makes more sense when:
- You land late. The chauffeur tracks your flight, so the pickup follows the real arrival time.
- You want to be met. Meet and greet inside arrivals with a name board is a booker option; see our meet and greet service.
- You are travelling with family or equipment. Child, toddler and booster seats can be added, and SUVs carry up to six passengers and six bags.
- You are heading out of town. YOW to Kanata, Gatineau, Kingston or straight to Niagara.
Business and government travel often uses private aircraft. Our private jet charter section covers how ground transport is planned around a private flight.
Party bus and limo rental in Ottawa
Game nights. The Ottawa Senators play at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, well west of downtown, which is exactly the kind of trip where nobody wants to drive home or wait for a ride in a crowd. The Ottawa Redblacks play at TD Place at Lansdowne, 1015 Bank Street, in the Glebe. A Party Bus (up to 12) or the Stretch SUV Limousine (up to 16) drops the group at the door and waits for the final whistle. See concerts and sports transportation.
Weddings. Couples marry in the downtown churches, at Rideau Canal venues and in farm country around the city. A wedding usually pairs a car for the couple with a Sprinter or stretch limo for the wedding party; the wedding limo page covers how the day is scheduled.
Proms, formals and nights in the ByWard Market. One pickup list, one confirmed route, one confirmed return. Our party bus page explains vehicle sizes. There is no drinking in our vehicles, on any booking; Ontario law makes no exception for limousines, and our chauffeurs will not allow it.
An hourly chauffeur for the capital
Ottawa's business day often runs between federal buildings, embassies, the downtown core and the tech campuses in Kanata. An hourly chauffeur keeps one car and one driver with you all day, waiting outside each stop. Our chauffeurs keep conversations private, and an NDA can be signed on request. We are not a security company, but we work alongside a client's own team when one is present.
Trains. Ottawa's VIA Rail station is at 200 Tremblay Road, about 4 km from downtown, as listed on VIA Rail's station page. Give us your train number and the chauffeur tracks the arrival.
Parliament Hill. The Centre Block is closed for a major renovation, according to Public Services and Procurement Canada. The grounds remain a draw, and parliamentary tours run in the interim buildings. Agree a drop-off point and a pickup time in advance, because streets around the Parliamentary Precinct have changing restrictions.
Winterlude. The capital's winter festival runs from January 29 to February 15, 2027, according to Canadian Heritage. Downtown streets get busy around the festival sites, so build in time.

When is the train better? If you are one or two people with light bags and you enjoy rail travel, VIA to Toronto and then a train to Niagara Falls is a good way to go, and our guide to getting to Niagara by train and bus covers the Niagara end. When time matters more than anything, flying to Toronto Pearson and having us meet you for the last 130 km is the fastest door-to-door plan. The private car wins for families with car seats, groups who can share one vehicle, older travellers who would rather not change trains with luggage, and anyone who wants to stop where they like on the way.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Ottawa to Niagara Falls?
About 577 km, usually 6 h 15 to 7 h 30 by private car via Highways 416, 401 and 407 and the QEW. Allow more for meal stops, Toronto rush hours and winter weather.
Can a limo pick us up in Ottawa for a day trip to Niagara Falls and bring us back?
It is technically possible, but it means thirteen to fifteen hours of driving in one day, so we recommend against it. The realistic plan is an overnight or two-night stay, or a one-way car down and a flight home from Toronto or Buffalo.
Which airport is closest to downtown Ottawa?
Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport (YOW), about 14 km south of downtown. A pre-booked car usually takes 20 to 30 minutes outside rush hour, and the O-Train Line 4 also serves the airport.
Is it faster to fly from Ottawa to Toronto and drive from there?
Usually, yes, if you count only time in transit. Add check-in and security at YOW, the flight, and then about 130 km from Pearson to the Falls with us. For a group or a family, the cost of several air tickets often makes the private car the better choice.
Is the Ottawa to Niagara Falls trip driven by your own chauffeurs?
Yes. Ottawa is in Ontario, so the trip is dispatched by NiagaraFallsLimo.net and driven by our own licensed, commercially insured chauffeurs from pickup to drop-off.
Can you take us to the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau?
Yes, on an hourly booking from Ottawa. The museum is just across the Ottawa River in Gatineau, Quebec; the chauffeur waits or returns at a set time.
What happens if my flight into YOW is late?
Your flight is tracked, so the chauffeur adjusts to the actual landing time. You do not need to call ahead to move the pickup.
