Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants fall into two families: the dining rooms of the wineries spread across the farmland, and the inns and kitchens along Queen Street in the Old Town. Both are excellent, and both share one problem. The best meals here come with wine, the roads between them are dark country lines, and the town's visitor shuttle stops early. NiagaraFallsLimo.net plans a lot of these evenings, and this guide sets out what we have checked for the 2026 season, without any paid placements.
Where should you eat in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and how do you get there?
Book a winery restaurant such as Trius or Two Sisters' Kitchen76, or eat in the Old Town at the Prince of Wales or on Queen Street. The Old Town is about 24 km (15 mi) from the Falls hotels, usually 25–30 minutes. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives you there and back with one booking.
Niagara-on-the-Lake, usually shortened to NOTL, is a separate town at the mouth of the Niagara River, about half an hour north of the Falls by the Niagara Parkway. Its official visitor site, Tourism Niagara-on-the-Lake, lists far more places than we can cover. We have kept to restaurants whose own pages we opened in October 2026. Like every page in our Niagara travel guides, it names places, not partners.
The 2026 changes to know first
Two updates catch people out:
- Peller Estates' Winery Restaurant is closed for renovation until 13 November 2026. From 13 October to 12 November, the Peller Winery Restaurant is operating at the Riverbend Inn next door. If your confirmation says Peller, check which building you are going to.
- Two Sisters now has two restaurants. Kitchen76 is at the winery on John Street East; 11th Post on Queen is at 135 Queen Street in the Old Town.
Bookings for both run through the restaurants themselves, and summer and Shaw Festival weekends fill weeks ahead.
Winery restaurants on the Niagara Stone Road and John Street
The winery dining rooms are the reason many people come. A few verified names:

Trius Winery Restaurant, 1249 Niagara Stone Road. Led by Executive Chef Frank Dodd, it offers tasting menus with wine pairings and is Feast On certified. Trius says it has been the only MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake for three years, carrying the 2026 badge. Trius also ages its sparkling wine in what it calls Canada's largest underground sparkling cellar, a reason to arrive early for a tour.
Kitchen76 at Two Sisters Vineyards, 240 John Street East. Two Sisters describes it as Italian fine dining at the winery; their dining page lists both restaurants.
The Winery Restaurant at Peller Estates, 290 John Street East, a few doors along. Executive Chef Jason Parsons leads the kitchen, which Peller says sources 98% of its ingredients from Canadian suppliers. It is Feast On designated. See the renovation note above.
From Niagara-on-the-Lake's Old Town, Trius is about 10 km (6 mi), usually 12–15 minutes. Peller and Two Sisters are closer, on the eastern side of town. The full winery picture, with tasting rooms as well as restaurants, is on our Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries page.
Riverbend Inn and the Niagara River Parkway
Oaklands at Riverbend is the restaurant of the Riverbend Inn & Vineyard, 16104 Niagara River Parkway, a Georgian mansion on 17 acres with 21 guest rooms. Chef Jason Parsons leads it as well. It sits on the Parkway between the Falls and the Old Town, about 19 km (12 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, usually 25–30 minutes on the river road.
The Parkway is the scenic way in and the slow way out. It has no streetlights for long stretches, cyclists in summer and deer at dusk. That is part of why we suggest a driver for any dinner here that includes a wine pairing.
The Old Town: Queen Street, Picton Street and the inns
The Old Town is compact enough to walk once you are in it, and it is where theatre-goers eat.
Noble Restaurant at the Prince of Wales, 6 Picton Street. The flagship dining room of the Prince of Wales hotel celebrates regional Niagara ingredients with local and international wines, according to Vintage Hotels. The same hotel serves traditional afternoon tea daily in the Drawing Room and drinks, lunch and light meals in the Churchill Lounge. If you are staying there, see our Prince of Wales Hotel pickup guide.
Treadwell, 114 Queen Street, is a farm-to-table restaurant whose wine list has been cited for World of Fine Wine awards.
11th Post on Queen, 135 Queen Street, is the newer Two Sisters restaurant, serving what the winery calls casual-elegant classics.
The Pillar and Post, Queen's Landing and the town's other inns are covered on our Niagara-on-the-Lake inns page and Pillar and Post guide.
Where the car stops: Queen Street is narrow, with heavy foot traffic on summer evenings and around Shaw Festival curtain times. Your chauffeur drops you at the restaurant door or the nearest side street with room to pull in, and you set the pickup time and corner before you go in.
Lunch, afternoon tea and November tasting weekends
Not every good meal here is dinner. Two daytime ideas work especially well with a car:
- Afternoon tea in the Drawing Room at the Prince of Wales, served daily, is an easy anchor for a gentle day: Old Town shops in the morning, tea at two, the Parkway home by late afternoon.
- Taste the Season, run by the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake on weekends in November, is a self-guided tour in which eight wineries pair harvest-inspired food with their wines. Because it is self-guided, the driving is your problem, which is exactly the problem a chauffeur solves. The same group runs Chocolate & Cheese on weekends in February and March, and Sip & Sizzle on weekends in May.
A lunch-led day also suits travellers who would rather not be on the dark Parkway after dinner. If you are building a whole weekend, our Niagara Falls events calendar lists what else is on, month by month.
Dinner and the Shaw Festival
Many NOTL dinners are timed around a play. The Shaw Festival's 2026 season runs to 23 December, with holiday productions, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella at the Festival Theatre and A Year with Frog and Toad at the Court House Theatre, previewing in early November. A typical evening is an early dinner on Queen Street, a short walk or drive to the theatre, and a car waiting at the end. Our Shaw Festival page explains drop-offs at each theatre.
Comparing ways to get to dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake
From the Fallsview hotels to the Old Town is about 24 km (15 mi), usually 25–30 minutes; from downtown Toronto it is about 127 km (79 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 off-peak.
| Mode | Door-to-door time (from a Falls hotel) | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WEGO bus + NOTL shuttle | 60–90 minutes with transfers; last return from Fort George at 7 p.m. | Published WEGO pass price ($16 adult for 24 h, as of 2026) | None | Lunch, not dinner |
| Taxi | 25–35 minutes | Metered, often both ways | Not relevant | One-way trips when a cab is available |
| Rideshare | 25–35 minutes plus pickup wait | Surge pricing; fewer cars late in a small town | Not relevant | Early evening, flexible return |
| Driving yourself | 25–35 minutes plus parking | Fuel and parking | Not relevant | A designated driver who will not drink |
| Private chauffeur | 25–30 minutes, door to door both ways | Fixed fare via booker, quoted before you book | Not relevant | Wine pairings, theatre nights, couples and groups |
An honest verdict: if you are staying in the Old Town and dining on Queen Street, walk. If you are lunching at a winery and back before six, the WEGO pass works. For a dinner with wine 25 km from your hotel, the choice is really between a designated driver and a chauffeur, and the chauffeur means everyone can order the pairing. More comparisons are in chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare.
Remember that there is no drinking in our vehicles. Niagara Region's by-law forbids a vehicle-for-hire driver from permitting it, and Ontario law has no limousine exception. Bottles you buy at dinner ride home sealed.
A sample evening plan
- 4:30 p.m. pickup at your Fallsview hotel.
- A riverside drive on the Niagara Parkway past the Floral Clock and Queenston Heights.
- 5:15 p.m. a glass and a short cellar visit at the winery.
- 6:00 p.m. dinner and pairing.
- 8:30 p.m. pickup at the door, back at the hotel before 9:15 p.m., in time to see the Falls lit for the evening.
With "By the hour" in the booker, the same car stays with you all evening. For a daytime version with several tastings, see our Niagara wine tour by limo or the one-day wine tour itinerary.
How to book a NOTL dinner car in 3 steps
- Enter the trip. Pickup at your hotel, inn or home, drop-off at the restaurant, the date and the time you want to arrive. Add a return leg, or switch to "By the hour".
- Choose the vehicle. A sedan or Mercedes-Benz E or S-Class for two, a Standard or Executive Black SUV for up to six, an Executive Sprinter for up to twelve. Each shows its fixed fare.
- Finish and pay. Passengers, any child seats, the restaurant name in the notes, secure payment, then a confirmation by email.
Every screen is explained in how to book a limo.
Who this suits
- Individuals in town on business, staying at a Falls hotel, who want a proper dinner without driving a dark parkway alone.
- Couples on an anniversary or a weekend away; our couples page has more ideas.
- Families celebrating with grandparents, where one SUV carries everyone and nobody worries about parking on Queen Street.
- Groups of friends or colleagues; a Sprinter brings up to twelve to a private winery dinner and home again.
Arriving from the airport or from New York
From Toronto Pearson to Niagara-on-the-Lake is about 120 km (75 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 off-peak. Guests coming from Lewiston or Youngstown in New York usually cross the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, the closest crossing to NOTL; each passenger must carry their own valid documents. Our Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake route and Niagara Falls restaurants guide cover the rest of the region.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake?
It depends on the evening you want. For a winery tasting menu, Trius says it is the town's only MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant, with a 2026 badge. For a historic inn, Noble at the Prince of Wales. For Queen Street, Treadwell or 11th Post on Queen. Book ahead on summer and Shaw Festival weekends.
Is the Peller Estates restaurant open?
The Winery Restaurant at Peller Estates is closed for renovation until 13 November 2026. From 13 October to 12 November it is operating at the Riverbend Inn, next door to the winery. Check your reservation for the building before you set off.
How far is Niagara-on-the-Lake from Niagara Falls?
The Old Town is about 24 km (15 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, usually 25–30 minutes by the Niagara Parkway. Riverbend Inn, on the Parkway, is about 19 km (12 mi) from Fallsview.
Can you Uber in Niagara-on-the-Lake?
Rideshare apps operate around Niagara Falls, but in a small town late at night fewer cars are nearby and surge pricing is common after events. For a dinner with a fixed return time, a pre-booked car is more predictable.
How do you get to Niagara-on-the-Lake without a car?
WEGO's Niagara-on-the-Lake shuttle connects with the Falls system at the Floral Clock and runs to Fort George, but GO notes the last return leaves Fort George at 7 p.m. For dinner, use a taxi or a pre-booked chauffeur for at least the return.
Do Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants need reservations?
For the winery dining rooms and the inns, plan on it. Peller takes bookings through OpenTable, Trius builds its evenings around tasting menus, and Shaw Festival curtain nights fill the Old Town early. Book the table first, then book the car around it.
Can the chauffeur wait during dinner?
Yes. Choose "By the hour" in the booker and the car stays with you, or book separate legs if dinner and theatre will run long. The fixed fare shows before you pay. Cancellations more than 72 hours before pickup carry no charge.
Can we bring wine we bought at the winery back in the car?
Yes, sealed and unopened. Ontario's liquor law allows liquor in a vehicle when the container is unopened with the seal unbroken, or packed away. There is no drinking in our vehicles.
