Thornhill confuses visitors, because it does not have a city hall of its own. It is a historic community on both sides of Yonge Street, with the west side in the City of Vaughan and the east side in the City of Markham, and Steeles Avenue as its southern edge against Toronto. NiagaraFallsLimo.net treats it as one place. Our Thornhill limo service covers airport runs, evenings downtown, family celebrations and corporate hours, plus the long drive from Thornhill to Niagara Falls and back. You see the fixed fare for every vehicle in the booker before paying, whichever side of Yonge you live on.
One community, two cities: where we pick up
- Old Thornhill village. The original settlement around Yonge Street, Centre Street and John Street, protected by heritage conservation districts on both the Vaughan and the Markham sides. Narrow streets and older homes mean we agree the exact door when you book.
- Yonge and Steeles. Condo towers right at the Toronto boundary. Tell us the building name and which entrance has a drop-off loop.
- Bathurst and Centre. The residential west side around the Promenade shopping centre, mostly driveway pickups.
- Bayview and the Markham side. Larger lots east of Yonge, also driveway pickups, with fast access to the 404.
Because the area is so close to Highway 407, to the 404 and to the TTC subway's northern stations, Thornhill is one of the quickest places in York Region to get out of in any direction.
Thornhill airport limo to Toronto Pearson
Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) is about 40 km (25 mi) from central Thornhill, usually 35 – 50 minutes by the 407 or the 401. Our chauffeur tracks your flight on the way in and moves with any delay. A name board inside arrivals is a booker option, and grandparents landing from abroad usually appreciate it. How pre-booked pickups work at the airport is described on Pearson's pre-arranged services page, and our Toronto Pearson airport transfer page explains both terminals and the drive onward to the Falls.
For departures, the 407 is often the fastest way west at dawn, and the chauffeur builds the extra few minutes into your pickup time rather than cutting it fine. Flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) are a short run straight down to the lakeshore; see the Billy Bishop transfer page. Corporate travellers on private aircraft land at Pearson's FBOs, covered on private jet and FBO transfers.
What is the best way to get from Thornhill to Niagara Falls?
For a family or group, a pre-booked chauffeur from NiagaraFallsLimo.net is the simplest: about 149 km (93 mi) from Thornhill to the Fallsview area of Niagara Falls, Ontario, usually 1 h 50 – 2 h 15 off-peak via the 407 ETR or the 401 and 427 to the QEW. Book online; the fixed fare shows first.
The distance is a road-routing estimate from the centre of Thornhill with no traffic. Niagara-on-the-Lake is about 148 km. A solo traveller can also take the subway to Union Station and a GO train to the Falls, which we compare honestly in the table further down. See the fares by vehicle below for the Thornhill to Niagara Falls and back trip.
Thornhill to Niagara Falls and back: a late start and an evening at the brink
Not every day trip has to start at dawn. This version suits people who want the Falls lit up at night and are happy to be home late:
- 11 a.m. Pickup in Thornhill, after the morning traffic and with time for a proper breakfast.
- About 1 p.m. Arrival at the Falls. Walk from Table Rock Centre along the railing above the Horseshoe Falls, then north toward the American Falls.
- 2 – 5 p.m. Pick one or two attractions: a Niagara City Cruises boat in season, the tunnels at Journey Behind the Falls, or the Niagara Parks Power Station, which is open year-round.
- 5 – 8 p.m. Dinner in the Fallsview district, then the Falls under light after dark.
- 8:30 p.m. The chauffeur collects you at the agreed spot and you are back in Thornhill around 10:30 p.m.
With a return booking the car and driver are yours for the day, and you can text the chauffeur if dinner runs long. Our Niagara Falls tour packages offer other shapes for the same day, and the attractions guide lists what is open in each season.
One way, overnight, or across the river
If you plan to sleep at the Falls, book the two legs as separate transfers and choose a room from our Fallsview hotels page. One-way drives also cover a wedding at a Niagara-on-the-Lake estate, a dinner reservation in wine country followed by a hotel, or the American side. For a crossing, each passenger, children included, needs their own valid travel documents; the border crossing documents page for the USA lists what is accepted, and the chauffeur drives you across the bridge.
Getting onto the 407 from Thornhill
Thornhill sits beside the 407 ETR, which runs across the top of the GTA to the QEW in the west. It is an all-electronic toll highway with no booths; the 407 ETR explains that cameras or a transponder record each trip and the bill goes to the vehicle's account. Ours is the account in question, so no invoice ever reaches you. Whether the chauffeur takes the 407 or the free 401 and 427 depends on the traffic that hour. For a full comparison of the two lines, see our Vaughan and Markham to Niagara Falls route page and the Markham and Richmond Hill 407 ETR guide.
Thornhill limo rental for celebrations
Family occasions in Thornhill often involve several generations and several stops: a service in the morning, photographs, a hall in the evening. Bar and bat mitzvahs, milestone birthdays, anniversaries and weddings are typical. We plan these as a schedule rather than a single ride, with a Stretch Limousine (up to 8) or an Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz) (up to 12) for the family and a sedan for elders who will leave early. Our wedding limo page and anniversary and proposal limo page show how timing works.
Teenagers' events need firmer rules. Proms and graduations are booked by a parent, times are fixed in writing, and no alcohol is allowed in any of our vehicles, which is Ontario law; the prom limo page has the detail. For a larger group, the Party Bus seats up to 12 and the Stretch SUV Limousine up to 16, both confirmed at booking; see party bus service.
Black car service by the hour
Thornhill residents who work downtown, consultants visiting Markham offices and families running a long day of errands before a flight all use the hourly chauffeur mode. A Standard Sedan (Cadillac XTS or similar) carries up to 3 with 2 large bags; a Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class suits one or two executives; an Executive Black SUV (Escalade / Navigator) takes up to 6. Accounts for firms are explained under corporate car service.
Nights out downtown, then home to Thornhill
Downtown Toronto is about 34 km (21 mi) south of Thornhill, usually 30 – 45 minutes outside rush hour, which makes a car the easy answer for a concert, a playoff game, a gala or a long restaurant dinner. The chauffeur drops you at the venue door, waits nearby on an hourly booking or returns at a set time, and has you home without a late subway ride or a surge-priced queue outside an arena. Stadium and arena evenings are planned on our concerts and sports transportation page, where we explain how pickups work when tens of thousands of people leave at once.
Thornhill to Niagara Falls: every option compared
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TTC subway plus GO train | usually 3 h or more | public fares, see TTC and GO | carry-on sized | one person, flexible day |
| Rideshare | about 1 h 50 – 2 h 30 | surge pricing on busy days | small trunk | one or two people, one way |
| Taxi | about 1 h 50 – 2 h 30 | metered | trunk only | short notice |
| Driving yourself | about 1 h 50 – 2 h 30, plus parking | fuel, 407 tolls, Falls parking | your own car | travellers who want their car there |
| NiagaraFallsLimo.net chauffeur | about 1 h 50 – 2 h 15 off-peak | fixed fare via booker | matched to group size | families, groups, evening returns |
The plain answer: if you are on your own and like trains, the subway to Union and a GO train to Niagara Falls is a sensible, low-cost choice, and GO Transit runs to the Falls daily. Once you add a second traveller with a suitcase, child seats, an evening return or a winery, a chauffeur is simpler and usually faster door to door. Our guide to chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare and how to book a limo explain what to compare.

Who rides with us from Thornhill
Individuals mostly book airport transfers and late returns. Couples take the late-start Falls day or a night in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Families use SUVs and the Sprinter for visiting relatives, car seats and luggage; see our page for families. Groups book the Party Bus or Stretch SUV Limousine for celebrations.
Next door, the same service runs from Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill and Toronto. The Canada limo service hub lists every city we cover.
Frequently asked questions
Is Thornhill in Vaughan or Markham?
Both. Thornhill is a community, not a municipality: the part west of Yonge Street belongs to the City of Vaughan and the part east of Yonge to the City of Markham. We price and serve both sides the same way.
How long is the drive from Thornhill to Niagara Falls?
About 149 km (93 mi) to the Fallsview area, usually 1 h 50 – 2 h 15 off-peak. Weekday rush hours and summer Fridays on the QEW add the most time. Your chauffeur chooses the 407 or the 401 and 427 with live traffic.
Can a limo pick us up in Thornhill for a day trip to the Falls and bring us back?
Yes. Book a return or "By the hour" and the same chauffeur drives you down, collects you when you are ready and brings you home. See the fares by vehicle below for the Thornhill round trip.
Which airport is best from Thornhill?
Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) handles most flights and is about 40 km (25 mi) away, usually 35 – 50 minutes. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) suits some short-haul trips. We serve both with flight tracking.
How much is a Thornhill limo?
Before you pay, our online booker lists a fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle. There is no meter and no surge pricing, and no separate toll bill arrives afterwards.
Can we add a Niagara-on-the-Lake winery stop to a Thornhill day trip?
Yes. Niagara-on-the-Lake is about 148 km from Thornhill and roughly 24 km from the Falls along the Niagara Parkway, so it fits easily into the same day. The chauffeur waits at each winery, and nobody in your group has to drive after the tastings.
Can you handle a family celebration with several stops?
Yes. Tell us each stop and time when you book, or book "By the hour" so the chauffeur stays with you. For large families we pair a stretch or Sprinter with a second car so elders can leave early.
