- Your hours. Leave Manhattan at 7 a.m. or after a late breakfast; stay at Table Rock until the light changes.

- Only your people. A couple, a family with car seats or a team of twelve, and nobody else.

Day 1: New York City to the Falls
Midtown Manhattan to Niagara Falls is about 393 mi (633 km): 7 h 30 – 8 h 30 of driving, one or two breaks, then the border. Leave by about 8 a.m. and you usually reach the Falls in the late afternoon, with time to walk to the brink before dinner.
- Pickup at your hotel or home, or at an airport hotel near JFK, LaGuardia or Newark. Arriving by air that morning? Airport pickups are flight-tracked, and meet and greet with a name board is a booker option.
- Interstate miles across New York State, with the corridor chosen on the day for weather, construction and traffic.
- A lunch break about halfway, and a shorter afternoon stop if anyone wants one.

- Drop-off at your Fallsview, Falls Avenue or Niagara-on-the-Lake hotel.

Day 2: eight chauffeured hours on both sides of the Falls
The car and chauffeur are yours for eight hours from the morning pickup. A typical order, adjusted for season:
Table Rock, early. Start at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls before the crowds. Below the Table Rock Welcome Centre, Journey Behind the Falls descends 125 ft into tunnels with portals and a deck at the foot of the falls, open year-round.
Into the mist. Niagara City Cruises sails from the Canadian gorge in a season running April to November. From Prospect Point in New York, the Maid of the Mist runs April 24 to November 8 in 2026 on all-electric boats, first come, first served (Maid of the Mist schedule). One boat is plenty; choose the side you will already be on.
Across the Rainbow Bridge. After lunch, Niagara Falls State Park, which calls itself America's oldest state park and opens every day of the year. On Goat Island, Cave of the Winds leads to the Hurricane Deck beside the falls; tickets are sold on site only and free sandals have been phased out, so pack shoes that can get wet. Up the Parkway. Hours permitting, drive north along the gorge to Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 12–16 mi (20–25 km) from the Falls, for Queen Street. The Whirlpool Aero Car on the way (April to November) crosses the border four times without leaving Canada, so no passport is needed for it.

Day 3: the drive home
After breakfast the chauffeur heads for the US border. Leaving by mid-morning puts you back in New York in the evening. Drop-off can be your Manhattan hotel, your home, or an airport hotel if you fly out next morning.
The 4-day version: add a day in wine country
The NYC Niagara and Wine Country plan adds a second eight-hour chauffeured day before the drive home. Niagara-on-the-Lake lies within the Niagara Peninsula appellation, and estates within easy reach include Inniskillin on the Niagara Parkway, which received Ontario's first post-Prohibition winery licence in 1975, and Château des Charmes near St. Davids. - No drinking in the vehicle. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids a licensed driver to permit alcohol to be consumed in the car. Bottles ride home sealed in the trunk; the chauffeur never drinks.
- Bringing wine back. CBP lets returning US residents aged 21 or older include one litre of alcohol in the US$800 exemption after at least 48 hours abroad; state law may be stricter. See duty-free and declarations.

Niagara Falls USA tour from New York, no border needed
If someone in your party lacks documents for Canada and back (an ordinary driver's licence will not get a US adult back across by land), we keep the trip in New York State:
- Niagara Falls State Park and Goat Island, between the American and Horseshoe Falls.
- Maid of the Mist from the Observation Tower at Prospect Point, in season.
- Cave of the Winds and the Hurricane Deck.
- The Aquarium of Niagara in the park, and Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, with six original 18th-century buildings.

Border documents for each passenger
The chauffeur crosses with you, but every person, children included, shows their own papers. The border-crossing hub has the full picture.
Into Canada. CBSA recommends a valid passport for US citizens, and also accepts proof of citizenship such as a birth certificate or a US enhanced driver's licence (CBSA travel documents). US permanent residents arriving by land show their permanent resident card. Travellers from eTA countries generally need no eTA by car; visa-required nationals still need a visitor visa. Back into the US. US citizens show a passport, passport card, enhanced driver's licence or NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST card; children under 16 need only a birth certificate (CBP's WHTI page). Permanent residents show Form I-551.
International visitors. CBP's I-94 page says Visa Waiver travellers need an approved ESTA before reaching a land border; as of 2026 the ESTA fee is US$40.62 and a land-border I-94 costs US$30, and the I-94 can be started in the CBP Link app (CBP I-94 page). Since December 26, 2025, non-US citizens may be photographed on entry and exit at US land ports.
Children, NEXUS, cannabis. A child travelling without both parents should carry a consent letter; Canada does not require one by law, but officers may ask. NEXUS lanes work only if everyone in the car, chauffeur included, is a member. Cannabis may not cross the border in either direction.

- Spring to autumn. The boats, the Aero Car and the White Water Walk run roughly April to November; the Maid of the Mist's opening depends on lake ice. The 2026 summer fireworks ran nightly at 10 p.m. from May 15 to October 12.
