From Whitby, the Horseshoe Falls are on the other side of Lake Ontario, and by road the whole width of the Greater Toronto Area away. That distance is the reason Whitby families ask us to drive. NiagaraFallsLimo.net books limo service in Whitby for the Niagara run and back, and for the trips that stay closer to home: Toronto Pearson and Oshawa Executive Airport, proms, weddings, and dinners in downtown Whitby or Port Whitby.
Is Whitby too far for a Niagara Falls day trip by limo?
No. Whitby is about 183 km (114 mi) from the Fallsview hotels in Niagara Falls, Ontario, usually 2 h to 2 h 30 off-peak by the 401 and QEW or the 407 ETR. NiagaraFallsLimo.net books Whitby to Niagara Falls and back as a day trip, an overnight or one way; enter both addresses online and the booker shows a fixed fare first.
The drive is long enough that the choice of road and departure time matters more than on most of our routes, which is where a chauffeur who knows the GTA earns their place. Every Whitby trip is dispatched by NiagaraFallsLimo.net and driven by our licensed, commercially insured chauffeurs.
Three roads from Whitby to the Falls
There is no single right road from Durham Region to Niagara; there is a right road for the hour you leave.
- Highway 401 west, the 427 south and the QEW. The most direct line, and the one the route planners usually pick. It runs through the heart of Toronto, so it is excellent at 7 am on a Sunday and slow at 4 pm on a Friday.
- Highway 412 or Brock Road to the 407 ETR, west to the QEW at Burlington. The 407 crosses the north of the GTA to the QEW. It is a toll road, but the section east of Brock Road is now free: the provincially owned stretch of Highway 407 East from Brock Road to Highways 35/115 has been toll-free since June 1, 2025, as the Town of Whitby announced.
- The 401 to the Don Valley Parkway, then the Gardiner Expressway and QEW. Useful when you want a stop downtown, such as a hotel pickup or lunch on the waterfront, on the way to the Falls.
The 407 ETR from Brock Road west has no toll booths. Cameras and transponders record each trip, and the 407 ETR FAQ explains that charges vary by vehicle, time, day, section and direction and are billed to the transponder holder or the vehicle's registered owner, not to passengers. If you would like the chauffeur to use it to dodge 401 traffic, add that to your booking notes.
The journal post on Durham Region to Niagara Falls explains why so many Oshawa, Whitby and Ajax riders hand the drive over.
Planning Whitby to Niagara Falls and back
The day trip
An early start pays off from Whitby. A plan that keeps the driving to the bookends:
- 7:30 pickup at home in Whitby or Brooklin, coffee in hand.
- 9:45 arrive at Table Rock, at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls, before the tour buses.
- 10:00–12:30 Journey Behind the Falls all year, or the boat with Niagara City Cruises in season, and the gorge walk.
- 12:30 lunch, then the Niagara Parkway north toward Queenston.
- 14:30 Niagara-on-the-Lake: Queen Street, the Shaw Festival theatres from the outside or a single winery stop.
- 16:30 on the road home, with the chauffeur choosing the 407 or 401 by live traffic; back in Whitby around 19:00.
That is a long day, so many Whitby clients book it "By the hour" and decide on the spot whether to stay for dinner. If you would rather follow a set programme, our Niagara Falls tour packages run 8, 10 and 12 hours. The things to do in Niagara Falls guide and the attractions pages help build your own.
The overnight
With more than two hours each way, staying a night is often the better plan: the fireworks and illuminations, a Fallsview room, a wine tour the next morning and an afternoon ride home. Book the outbound and return legs together; our Fallsview hotels guide and the Niagara wine tour limo page help fill the second day.
One way
A one-way ride fits a wedding in Niagara, a conference in a Fallsview hotel or a week's stay. Book the return later from the same booker.

Around Whitby
Most of our local Whitby work falls into four areas.
- Downtown Whitby. The historic core around Brock and Dundas streets, with restaurants and shops in older brick buildings.
- Port Whitby. The harbour, the marina and the waterfront trail south of the 401, minutes from Whitby GO.
- Brooklin. The village and newer subdivisions in north Whitby, beside Highway 7 and close to the 407 and 412.
- The Rossland Road corridor. Town hall and the Region of Durham's headquarters are here, along with many of the offices and medical buildings our business riders visit.
The Town of Whitby site lists events and road works. For a car that stays with you through several stops, the hourly chauffeur option is the simplest booking.
Whitby airport limo: Pearson, Billy Bishop and Oshawa Executive
- Toronto Pearson (YYZ): about 74 km from central Whitby, usually 55 minutes to 1 h 20 depending on the 401 or 407. We track the flight and adjust the pickup to the actual landing time; meet and greet inside arrivals is an option. See our Toronto Pearson airport limo page.
- Billy Bishop Toronto City (YTZ): on the downtown waterfront, a little closer than Pearson for Porter flights. Our Billy Bishop transfer page explains the pickup.
- Oshawa Executive Airport (YOO): about 7 km from Whitby, usually 10 minutes. The City of Oshawa describes it as a corporate and general aviation airport with a full-service FBO open 24 hours, and says it has no scheduled passenger flights (City of Oshawa airport page). For private flights, our private jet and FBO transfers meet the aircraft, and the private jet charter desk can arrange the flight itself.
Party bus and limo rental in Whitby
Prom season, milestone birthdays, stags and stagettes and Toronto concert nights are the usual Whitby group bookings. The Iroquois Park Sports Centre on Victoria Street West, home ice of the Whitby Dunlops, is a regular team-and-family pickup too.
- Party Bus: up to 12, availability confirmed at booking.
- Stretch SUV Limousine: up to 16; the common prom choice.
- Stretch Limousine: up to 8.
- Executive Sprinter: up to 12, quieter, with room for carry-on bags, ideal for the long Niagara run.
No drinking on board: Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids a driver to permit it, and Ontario's liquor law has no exception for limousines. A gift bottle can still come along, sealed, added in the booker for opening at home. See our party bus, prom limo and bachelor and bachelorette limo pages.
Weddings and milestone days
Durham couples marry at golf clubs, banquet halls and barns across the region, and often in Niagara wine country. Because those days can involve long distances between the ceremony, photos and reception, we plan them as one booking with each stop listed and buffer time built in. The wedding limo page has a sample schedule, and anniversary surprises are covered on our anniversary and proposal limo page.
Getting from Whitby to Niagara: the options compared
| Mode | Door to door | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO train | Lakeshore East from Whitby GO to Union, change to Lakeshore West for Niagara Falls; limited direct Niagara trips | GO fare by distance | What you can carry | Solo travellers with a free day and light bags |
| Coach or bus via Toronto | Change downtown; several hours | Ticket price | Under the bus | Budget travel, no fixed return time |
| Rideshare | Direct if a car accepts the distance | Surge pricing at peak | Varies | One way, one or two people |
| Taxi | Direct | Metered over a long distance | Trunk | Rarely the right tool for 183 km |
| Driving yourself | Direct, plus Falls parking | Fuel, parking, 407 tolls if used | Your trunk | People who enjoy the drive |
| Private chauffeur | From your driveway, the car waits | Fixed fare via booker | Matched to the vehicle | Families, groups, long day trips, overnights |
If you are travelling alone and happy to change at Union, GO Transit is a fair option on a day when its Niagara trains fit your plans; our train and bus guide explains how the services connect. For two or three people a rideshare may work one way. For families, groups, car seats, wine stops, a late return or a crossing into New York, a chauffeur is the sensible choice: no change of train, no surge and no driving home tired. Crossing the border, every passenger carries their own documents; see crossing the border by car.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Whitby to Niagara Falls?
About 183 km (114 mi) from central Whitby to the Fallsview district, usually 2 h to 2 h 30 off-peak. Weekday rush hours on the 401 and summer Fridays on the QEW can add an hour, so we time fixed pickups to avoid the worst of it and choose between the 401 and the 407 ETR on the day.
Can a limo pick us up in Whitby for a day trip to the Falls and bring us back?
Yes. Book a return with both times, or "By the hour" to keep the car with you all day. A 7:30 start puts you at Table Rock before 10:00 and home by early evening, and the booker prices the whole day up front.
Which airport is closest to Whitby?
Oshawa Executive Airport (YOO) is about 7 km away but serves only corporate and private aircraft, with no scheduled passenger flights. For airline travel, Toronto Pearson (YYZ) is about 74 km away and Billy Bishop downtown is a little closer for Porter flights. We serve all three.
Does the chauffeur use the 407 ETR?
Only when it makes sense for the time of day or when you ask. The section east of Brock Road is toll-free, while the rest of the 407 ETR is tolled and billed to the vehicle's owner or transponder holder, never to passengers. Note your preference in the booking.
Is there a train from Whitby to Niagara Falls?
Not directly. GO Transit's Lakeshore East line runs from Whitby GO to Union Station in Toronto, where you change to the Lakeshore West line; only some of those trains continue to Niagara Falls. Check GO's timetable for your date.
Do you rent party buses and prom limos in Whitby?
Yes. Whitby groups of up to 12 take the party bus and up to 16 the stretch SUV limousine, with availability confirmed when you book. Prom bookings follow the school's rules and the peak-season deadline on your confirmation. There is no drinking on board.
How much is a limo from Whitby to Niagara Falls?
It depends on the vehicle and on booking one way, a return or by the hour. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare before you pay, and Whitby to Niagara Falls and back is listed by vehicle on this page.
