At 5:30 p.m. on a February evening, the lights come on over the Horseshoe Falls and the mist turns from grey to colour. If there is ice on the gorge walls, and in a cold winter there usually is, the view from the railing at Table Rock is one of the most striking in the province. That half-minute is the reason so many people book Valentine's Day in Niagara Falls. Everything else on the evening is about getting the two of you to that railing warm, on time, and with dinner reserved.
NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives couples to the Falls through February. This is the plan we suggest, with the honest notes on what is and is not running in winter.
The evening, hour by hour
A Valentine's night from Toronto, built around a 7:30 p.m. dinner reservation:
- 3:30 p.m., pickup in Toronto. Downtown Toronto to the Fallsview district is about 129 km (80 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 off-peak. In February we add time for snow on the QEW and the Burlington Skyway.
- 5:15 p.m., arrival at the brink. Your chauffeur drops you near Table Rock Centre on the Niagara Parkway, a short walk from the railing above the Horseshoe Falls.
- 5:30 p.m., the lights come on. From February 1 to March 11 the Falls are lit from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., according to the Niagara Parks illumination schedule.
- 6:00 p.m., warm up. Table Rock Centre is right there for coffee, a gift shop and Niagara Takes Flight, the flying-theatre ride on its second floor.
- 7:15 p.m., to dinner. The car takes you up the hill to a Fallsview restaurant or the Skylon Tower.
- 10:00 p.m., one last look, then home. A slow pass along the Parkway, then the QEW back to Toronto, arriving around midnight.
Staying over? Swap the last step for a Fallsview hotel, and the chauffeur collects you the next morning.

What makes Valentine's Day in Niagara Falls worth the trip?
Valentine's Day in Niagara Falls pairs the nightly illumination, lit from 5:30 p.m. in February, with dinner overlooking the gorge. Downtown Toronto is about 129 km (80 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50. NiagaraFallsLimo.net books the evening online, by the hour or as a return trip, at a fixed fare shown before you pay.
The winter Falls are quieter than summer. You will not wait in long lines at the brink, the hotel views are the same, and the ice formations on the gorge are something summer visitors never see. In February 2026, Niagara Parks described the partly frozen Falls as having their most impressive ice formations in a decade.
Will the Falls be lit in red and pink?
Possibly. On Valentine's Day 2025, the Niagara Falls Illumination Board lit the Falls in red and pink for 15 minutes at the top of every hour, starting at 6 p.m., according to Niagara Parks' 2025 announcement. The 2027 schedule had not been published when we wrote this in October 2026. In 2025 the announcement came a week ahead, and special colours appear on the illumination calendar.
Fireworks are another matter. The summer fireworks series ran from May 15 to October 12 in 2026, and the Winter Festival of Lights fireworks finish in early January 2027. The regular fireworks do not run in February, so build the evening around the lights rather than a show. Our Falls illumination and fireworks page explains where to stand for each.
Dinner with a view: where to book
Reserve first; book the car second. Valentine's tables at view restaurants go early, and a dinner time anchors the whole evening.
- Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room. The room sits 775 ft above the Falls and turns a full circle every hour, and a dining reservation includes the ride up and the observation deck. Our Skylon Tower page covers the drop-off at Robinson Street, and our post on Skylon dinners by limousine has more on timing.
- Table Rock House Restaurant. Niagara Parks bills it as the closest you can dine to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, at 6650 Niagara Parkway. Bookings are taken through OpenTable via the Table Rock House page.
- Massimo's Italian Fallsview Restaurant. Chef Massimo Capra's restaurant is on the Fallsview Dining Level of the Sheraton Fallsview Hotel at 5875 Falls Avenue. It replaced the former Windows restaurant, a detail worth knowing if an older guidebook sends you looking.
- AG Inspired Cuisine. A farm-to-table room at the Sterling Inn & Spa on Magdalen Avenue, a quieter choice away from the brink.
More options, including steakhouses and casual rooms, are in our Niagara Falls restaurants guide.
Choosing the car
This is the one night of the year when the vehicle is part of the gift. All of these are booker classes, with the model confirmed at booking:
- Mercedes-Benz E or S-Class for two, the quiet, understated choice.
- Mercedes-Maybach or Rolls-Royce for two, when the car is meant to be remembered. Availability is confirmed at booking, and Valentine's weekend is a good reason to book early.
- Stretch Limousine for up to eight, if you are making it a double date or a small group.
- Executive Black SUV for up to six, practical in deep snow.
Our fleet page shows each class. One rule applies to all of them: drinking is not permitted in our vehicles. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids it, and Ontario's liquor law has no limousine exception. If you want a bottle to mark the night, the booker can add a sealed bottle as a gift to take away and open at your hotel.
Flowers are best arranged with a florist for delivery to your hotel or restaurant. That keeps them out of the cold and lets the evening start in the right place.
Turning it into a proposal
Plenty of couples plan a proposal around this evening. A few things help:
- Tell us in the booking notes. The chauffeur can time the drop-off for the moment the lights change, and wait discreetly.
- Pick the spot in daylight if you can. The railing near Table Rock and the walk toward Queen Victoria Park both have good sight lines, but they are public and can be busy on a holiday weekend.
- Have a dinner reservation ready for afterwards, so the evening has somewhere to go.
Our anniversary and proposal service explains the options, and our post on proposal ideas at Niagara Falls with a private driver lists spots by season.
Valentine's Day in Niagara Falls on a long weekend
In 2027, Valentine's Day falls on Sunday, February 14, the middle of Ontario's Family Day long weekend (Family Day is Monday, February 15). Expect fuller hotels, families in the attractions during the day, and busier roads on the Saturday afternoon and Monday. Couples who want quiet should plan the date for Saturday or Sunday evening, after the day-trippers have gone, and book the hotel early. Our post on the Family Day long weekend at Niagara Falls covers the daytime picture.
If you prefer wine country to the Falls, Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake runs its self-guided Chocolate & Cheese pairing tour on weekends in February and March. Details are on the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake site. The drive over to Old Town takes 25–35 minutes, roughly 23 km.
Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Mode | Door-to-door time from downtown Toronto | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeur | 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 each way, car waits through dinner on an hourly booking | Fixed fare via booker | Overnight bags fit easily | A full date night with no driver in the couple |
| Rideshare | Similar on the way down; return not guaranteed late | Surge pricing likely on Valentine's evening | Small trunk | Short rides between a Fallsview hotel and dinner |
| Taxi | Similar for local hops | Metered | Small trunk | Hotel to restaurant, under 10 minutes |
| GO train | Longer, schedule-bound, then a taxi from Niagara Falls station | GO fare | Carry-on | An overnight stay, arriving in daylight |
| Driving yourself | 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 plus hotel or lot parking | Fuel and parking | Whatever fits | Couples where one person does not drink |
The verdict. If you are already staying in a Fallsview hotel and dinner is a five-minute ride away, a taxi or rideshare is perfectly fine, and you do not need a chauffeur for that hop. If you are coming from Toronto and back the same night, the long return is where the plan usually falls apart: one of you drives tired, or you hunt for a ride at 10 p.m. on the busiest date night of the year. A pre-booked car solves both. Our guide to chauffeur, taxi and rideshare has more detail.

Who this suits
Couples, obviously, from first Valentine's to fortieth anniversary; our couples page has more ideas for a Niagara night. Individuals sometimes book a surprise: the car arrives for a partner who thinks the evening is dinner downtown. Families occasionally make it a parents' night out during the Family Day weekend, with the children at the hotel pool. Groups of two or three couples share a Stretch Limousine and a long table. If you want to stay the night, start with our Fallsview hotels guide.
Frequently asked questions
What time do the Niagara Falls lights come on in February?
From February 1 to March 11, the Falls are lit from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. every night, according to Niagara Parks. Special colour displays run on some dates. On Valentine's Day 2025, red and pink displays ran for 15 minutes at the top of each hour from 6 p.m.
Are there fireworks at Niagara Falls on Valentine's Day?
The regular fireworks series does not run in February. In 2026 the summer series ran May 15 to October 12, and the Winter Festival of Lights fireworks finish in early January 2027. Plan the evening around the illumination, and check Niagara Parks for any special announcement.
Which restaurants have a view of the Falls for Valentine's dinner?
The Skylon Tower's Revolving Dining Room, 775 ft above the Falls, and Table Rock House Restaurant at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls are the classic choices. Massimo's Italian Fallsview Restaurant at the Sheraton Fallsview also looks over the Falls. Book well ahead; Valentine's tables go early.
Can we drink champagne in the limousine?
No. Drinking is not allowed in our vehicles. Niagara Region's by-law forbids a licensed driver from permitting alcohol in the vehicle, and Ontario's liquor law has no limousine exception. You can add a sealed bottle in the booker as a gift to take away, and open it at your hotel or at dinner.
How far is Niagara Falls from Toronto for a date night?
Downtown Toronto to the Fallsview district is about 129 km (80 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 each way off-peak, more in snow. A same-night return works well with a set pickup after dinner; many couples prefer to stay over at a Fallsview hotel instead.
Is February a good time for a proposal at Niagara Falls?
It can be. Winter brings fewer crowds, early darkness for the illumination and ice on the gorge. Dress warmly, choose the spot in daylight, and tell your chauffeur the plan in the booking notes so the drop-off lines up with the moment you want.
How much is a limousine for Valentine's Day in Niagara Falls?
It depends on the vehicle, pickup point and whether the car waits by the hour. Each option in the booker carries a fixed price shown up front, with no Valentine's surge. Price two or three vehicle classes side by side before you decide.
