Ask a university student in Toronto how to reach the Falls and the answer is usually a Toronto to Niagara Falls bus. It is a fair answer. Three different services cover the trip, departures are frequent, and you can buy a seat on your phone the night before. A chauffeur company saying so may seem odd. But a reader who gets an honest comparison here is more likely to trust us when a car genuinely is the better choice.
NiagaraFallsLimo.net is not a bus line. We compared the three on the details that decide a trip: where they leave from, where they drop you, and what you do next.
What is the best bus from Toronto to Niagara Falls?
FlixBus runs the most direct Toronto to Niagara Falls trips, 13 a day on its route page, taking about 1 h 30 – 1 h 40 for roughly 125 km. Megabus and the GO bus also serve the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal. For groups or heavy luggage, NiagaraFallsLimo.net quotes a door-to-door car at a fixed fare online.

FlixBus: the most stops near the Falls
FlixBus's Toronto–Niagara Falls route page lists 13 direct rides a day, a fastest trip of about 1 hour 30 minutes (its travel guide says 1 hour 40), and a distance of about 125 km.
Its big advantage is the drop-off list. The Table Rock stop, on the Niagara River Parkway, is right at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls. Rapidsview is Niagara Parks' large car park south of the Falls. FlixBus says that showing your ticket there gets you a free WEGO shuttle to Table Rock and back. For a day-tripper with a backpack, that is about as convenient as public transport to Niagara gets.
The trade-off is luggage. One carry-on and one hold bag per person suits a day trip or a weekend, not a family holiday.
Megabus: the downtown terminal option
Megabus's stops page lists Niagara Falls stops at the Bus Terminal on Erie Avenue, shared with New York Trailways, and at the Rapidsview Transit Station. In Toronto it boards at the Union Station Bus Terminal, at York Street by Harbour Street, and at Scarborough GO.
The terminal stop matters if you are staying near the old downtown, the train station or Great Wolf Lodge. It is less convenient for Fallsview: from the bus terminal to the Fallsview hotel strip is about 3.9 km by road, usually 7 minutes by car, and a long uphill walk with a case.
The GO bus: part of a train journey
The GO bus is not really a separate Toronto–Niagara product. GO's weekday trip guidance describes it as the fallback when the direct Niagara train is not available. You ride the Lakeshore West train from Union to Burlington, then GO Bus Route 12 to the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal, across the road from the GO station.
That works, and it uses one fare system. GO also says kids 12 and under always travel free. But the trip is longer overall than the direct coaches, and the second half runs on the same QEW as everything else. Our post on the GO train to Niagara Falls explains when the direct train runs.
The stop you choose decides the rest of your day
All three services drop you somewhere other than your hotel door. Ask where you are going next:
- Day trip to the Falls: FlixBus to Table Rock is hard to beat.
- Hotel on Fallsview Boulevard: Table Rock, then the Falls Incline Railway or WEGO up the hill, or a short car ride.
- Clifton Hill or Falls Avenue hotel: Table Rock and a walk along the river, or a quick ride from the terminal.
- Great Wolf Lodge on Victoria Avenue: the Erie Avenue terminal is the closest drop-off, about 2–3 km away, a few minutes by car and a manageable walk for older children without much luggage.
- Niagara-on-the-Lake: no coach goes there direct. From the terminal it is about 20 km by road; our Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake route shows how.
- Late return to Toronto: check the last departure before you plan the fireworks.

When a group should skip the Toronto to Niagara Falls bus
Per person, the bus makes the most sense for one or two travellers. As the group grows, three things change.
Luggage. One hold bag per person is fine for students on a weekend. It is not fine for a wedding party with garment bags, or for a family with a stroller and a cooler.
Coordination. Eight friends on a bus means eight tickets, one departure time and a walk from the drop-off to wherever you are staying. Miss the bus and the plan collapses for everyone.
The night out. If the group wants dinner on Clifton Hill and a ride back to Toronto at midnight, the timetable decides when the evening ends. A chauffeured return can leave when you are ready. It is about 128–130 km to downtown Toronto, usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 40 late at night.
For groups, these classes come up most:
- Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz): seats a dozen, with room for carry-on bags only.
- Stretch SUV Limousine: up to 16 passengers, minimal luggage, availability confirmed at booking.
- Party Bus: up to 12 passengers with 2 bags, availability confirmed at booking.
- Coaches for larger groups on request.
There is no drinking in any of our vehicles, party bus included. Niagara Region's by-law forbids it, so plan the celebrating for the restaurant. Our Sprinter and stretch limo page and group transportation service give the details.
Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Option | Door-to-door time, downtown Toronto to Fallsview | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FlixBus or Megabus | about 1 h 30 – 1 h 40 on the road, plus getting to the stop and from the drop-off | bus fare as posted, varies by date | one carry-on and one hold bag (FlixBus) | students, solo travellers, day trips |
| GO train plus Route 12 bus | longer than the coach; check GO's planner | GO fare as posted; kids 12 and under free | what you can carry | weekday GO users, families on a budget |
| Rideshare | about 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 off-peak | surge pricing | depends on the car | short-notice trips for two |
| Taxi | similar | metered or company flat rate | standard trunk | one-off rides |
| Pre-booked chauffeur | about 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 off-peak; 2 h+ on summer Fridays | fixed fare via booker | sized to the class booked | groups, families, luggage, late returns, Pearson pickups |
The verdict, without spin: for a student or a solo traveller on a day trip, take FlixBus to Table Rock. It is direct, frequent and sensibly priced, and we would not tell you otherwise. A pre-booked car starts to win once there are five or more of you, real luggage or child seats. It also wins for a late return the buses do not cover, or an arrival at Pearson after a long flight. And a short car ride from the bus terminal or Table Rock to your hotel is a sensible middle ground. Our Toronto to Niagara Falls route page covers the full door-to-door drive.

Who it suits
Individuals: the bus is the natural pick; keep a car for a late or luggage-heavy return. Couples: a coach out and a car back after dinner is a comfortable mix. Families: free GO fares for under-12s are a real saving, but bags and car seats often push families toward a direct SUV. Groups: past about five people, one Sprinter usually beats a block of bus tickets on coordination alone; see our groups page.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the bus from Toronto to Niagara Falls?
FlixBus lists a fastest trip of about 1 hour 30 minutes, with its travel guide quoting 1 hour 40, for roughly 125 km. Traffic on the QEW decides the real time. Summer Friday afternoons and long weekends are the slowest.
Where does the bus stop in Niagara Falls?
It depends on the operator. FlixBus stops at Rapidsview, Table Rock, Mount Carmel Centre and the Niagara Falls Transit Terminal on Erie Avenue. Megabus uses the Bus Terminal on Erie Avenue and Rapidsview. The GO bus from Burlington stops at the bus terminal, across from the GO station.
Can I catch a bus to Niagara Falls straight from Pearson airport?
FlixBus lists a Toronto Pearson Terminal 1 stop on its Toronto–Niagara Falls route. Check the timetable for your arrival time. With a long flight and big suitcases, a direct car from Pearson, about 120 km and usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 40 off-peak, is the simpler option.
Is the bus or the GO train better from Toronto to Niagara Falls?
On a weekend, the direct GO train is comfortable and lets under-12s ride free. On a weekday, the GO trip often becomes a train to Burlington plus a bus, so FlixBus or Megabus may be quicker. Compare times on your exact date.
How much is a car from Toronto to Niagara Falls for a group?
The online booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your pickup, drop-off and vehicle class before you pay. For groups of 8–12, compare an Executive Sprinter with the total of individual bus tickets plus taxis at each end.
Can I get from the Niagara Falls bus terminal to Fallsview without a car?
Yes, with time. The terminal is about 3.9 km by road from the Fallsview hotels, and the last part is uphill. Niagara Parks' WEGO buses and Niagara Region Transit serve the area, or you can book a short ride to your hotel door.
Can I bring a big suitcase on the bus to Niagara Falls?
FlixBus allows one carry-on and one hold bag per passenger on this route. Check Megabus's and GO's own rules for their services. If you are carrying more than that, such as hockey bags, a stroller and suitcases, a pre-booked SUV with six-bag capacity is usually less stressful than negotiating luggage at a crowded bus bay.
