Most comparisons of the Toronto airport to Niagara Falls trip list the modes and stop there. The useful number is different: how long from the moment you have your bags to the moment you are standing in your hotel lobby in Niagara Falls, Ontario? That includes walking to the right door, waiting for a departure, changing trains, and the stretch from the station to the Falls that no timetable shows.
We ranked six options that way. The times are our planning estimates for a weekday afternoon arrival with normal traffic; we explain each one below.
What is the fastest way from Toronto airport to Niagara Falls?
A pre-booked private car is the fastest way from Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls, Ontario: about 122 km (76 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 from the curb to the hotel off-peak, 2 h or more on a summer Friday. NiagaraFallsLimo.net tracks your flight and shows a fixed all-in fare in its online booker.
Rideshare and the airport taxi stand cover the same road, so the drive itself is identical; the differences are the waiting, the vehicle you get, and the price surprises. Every public-transit option is slower, sometimes by hours, but some cost far less per seat. If you are travelling alone with a carry-on and a flexible afternoon, read rank 5 carefully.
How we ranked them
- Start: you have cleared Canadian customs and collected your bags at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3.
- Finish: you are at a Fallsview or Clifton Hill hotel.
- Included: walking to the pickup point, waiting for the vehicle or departure, every change, the final leg to the hotel.
- Not included: border queues (there are none on this route) or unusual delays.
Rank 1: pre-booked private car — about 1 h 35 – 2 h
The chauffeur tracks your flight, so when you walk out with your bags the car is already at the pre-arranged pickup door or, if you chose meet and greet, your driver is inside arrivals holding a name board. From Pearson the route is Highway 403 and the 407 ETR or Highway 427 to the Queen Elizabeth Way, then around the western end of Lake Ontario through Burlington, Hamilton and St. Catharines to the Falls.
- Distance: about 122 – 129 km depending on the routing.
- Drive: about 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 off-peak; allow 2 h or more on a summer Friday afternoon or a long weekend.
- Hassle: almost none. Car seats are installed before you arrive, and an SUV takes six passengers and six bags.

Rank 2: rideshare from the Pearson pickup zone — about 1 h 45 – 2 h 15
Toronto Pearson permits Uber, Lyft and Hopp pickups. You request the car once you have your bags, walk to the rideshare area, and wait for a driver to accept a trip of more than 120 km. Once you are moving, the drive is the same as rank 1.
- Extra time: finding the zone, matching with a driver, and sometimes a driver who cancels after seeing the destination.
- Cost note: surge pricing can apply at busy times.
- Hassle: car seats are not guaranteed, and the vehicle size depends on what the app sends.
Rank 3: taxi from the airport stand — about 1 h 45 – 2 h 15
Pearson does not require travellers to pre-book a taxi or limousine; you can take one from the airport's arrivals area on the day. Waiting time depends on the queue. The drive is the same as ranks 1 and 2. Ask what the fare to Niagara Falls will be before you set off, so there are no surprises at the hotel. Our taxi alternative page explains how a pre-booked fixed fare compares.
Rank 4: shared airport shuttle — about 2 h – 3 h
Private operators sell seats on shared shuttles between Pearson and Niagara hotels, usually on a set schedule. The time depends on two things: how long you wait for the next departure after your flight lands, and how many hotels the shuttle stops at before yours. If you are the last drop-off, add half an hour or more. Good value for a solo traveller with flexible plans; harder with children or a late flight.
Rank 5: FlixBus from Terminal 1 — about 2 h 30 – 4 h
FlixBus picks up at Terminal 1, ground level: follow signs for public buses and out-of-town services, exit through Gate P, and board at Post P4 on the centre island, according to the FlixBus Toronto to Niagara Falls route page. Arriving at Terminal 3? Take the free Terminal Link Train to Terminal 1 first.
- Fares: the Toronto–Niagara Falls route lists fares from CA$20.98, as of 2026.
- Ride time: FlixBus gives a minimum of 1 h 30 for Toronto to Niagara Falls; the schedule from Pearson varies.
- Niagara stops: Rapidsview (with a free WEGO shuttle to Table Rock included in the ticket), Table Rock, Mount Carmel Centre and the Niagara Falls Transit Terminal on Erie Avenue.
- The real variable: the wait for the next departure after you land. If your flight lands just after a bus leaves, the total stretches.
For a solo traveller with light bags, this is the best value on the list. Our sibling post comparing FlixBus, Megabus and GO buses from Toronto covers the alternatives.
Rank 6: UP Express and GO train — about 3 h 30 – 5 h
This is the answer to "is there a train from Toronto airport to Niagara Falls?", and the honest answer is: not directly. The trip has three parts.
- UP Express to Union Station. The UP Express station is in Terminal 1, directly next to the Terminal Link Train, and the ride to Union takes 28 minutes, according to UP Express's Pearson station page. Trains run from early morning until after midnight.
- GO train from Union to Niagara Falls. GO Transit runs year-round service to Niagara Falls, but departures are limited, and the trip on the train itself takes over two hours. Check the timetable on GO Transit's Niagara Falls page before you plan around it. Kids 12 and under ride free on GO.
- The last mile. Niagara Falls GO shares the station building with VIA Rail at 4267 Bridge Street, about 4 km from the Falls. The station is not staffed. From there you need a taxi, a WEGO bus or a pre-booked car to reach the hotels.
The total depends almost entirely on how well your landing lines up with a GO departure. On a good day it is about three and a half hours; with a long wait at Union, five or more. Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Rank | Option | Door-to-door (our estimate) | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pre-booked private car | about 1 h 35 – 2 h | fixed fare via booker | sized to your bags; seats fitted | families, groups, late flights, business travellers |
| 2 | Rideshare | about 1 h 45 – 2 h 15 | surge pricing | depends on the car sent | adults travelling light in daytime |
| 3 | Airport taxi | about 1 h 45 – 2 h 15 | ask the fare first | trunk only | adults who want to leave immediately |
| 4 | Shared shuttle | about 2 h – 3 h | per-seat fare | standard bags | solo travellers with time |
| 5 | FlixBus from Terminal 1 | about 2 h 30 – 4 h | from CA$20.98 (Toronto route, as of 2026) | standard bags | budget travellers with light luggage |
| 6 | UP Express and GO train | about 3 h 30 – 5 h | public fares | limited | rail fans, flexible schedules |
The honest verdict. If you are one person with a backpack landing mid-morning, FlixBus is excellent value and only an hour or so slower than a car on a good day; take it. If you are two adults travelling light, rideshare works most of the time, though car size and surge pricing are a gamble. The pre-booked chauffeur wins clearly for families with car seats, groups of four or more who would need two rideshares, travellers landing late at night when public options thin out, and anyone who wants a known vehicle and driver waiting the moment they clear customs. Our guide to chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare goes deeper into that comparison, and the sibling post on landing at Pearson after midnight covers night arrivals.
Who each option suits
Individuals have the widest choice: FlixBus or the train for value, a sedan for a business trip where arriving rested matters. Couples often choose between rideshare and a private car; a Mercedes-Benz E or S-Class makes the arrival part of the holiday. Families almost always do best with rank 1, because car seats and luggage rule out most of the rest. Groups of up to twelve fit an Executive Sprinter, provided luggage is carry-on only; larger bags call for SUVs.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a direct train from Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls?
No. You take the UP Express from Terminal 1 to Union Station, about 28 minutes, then a GO train to Niagara Falls, which has limited departures and takes over two hours. The Niagara Falls station is about 4 km from the Falls, so you need one more ride to your hotel.
How long does it take to get from Toronto airport to Niagara Falls by car?
About 1 h 30 to 1 h 50 off-peak for roughly 122 to 129 km, depending on the routing. On summer Friday afternoons and long weekends, allow two hours or more.
Is there a bus from Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls?
Yes. FlixBus picks up at Terminal 1, ground level, through Gate P at Post P4, and serves several Niagara Falls stops including Table Rock and Rapidsview. Shared shuttles also run to hotels on a schedule.
Can I take an Uber from Toronto Pearson to Niagara Falls?
Yes. Pearson allows Uber, Lyft and Hopp pickups. The drive is the same as a private car, but expect to wait for a match, and surge pricing can apply. Car seats and a vehicle big enough for your luggage are not guaranteed.
What is the lowest-cost way from Pearson to Niagara Falls?
For one person, the bus is usually the lowest cost: the FlixBus Toronto–Niagara route lists fares from CA$20.98 as of 2026. For a family or group, compare per-seat fares against one vehicle; the booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact trip and vehicle before you pay.
What if my flight lands late at night?
Public options thin out late in the evening, and the GO train's limited Niagara schedule rarely helps. A pre-booked car tracks your flight and waits for the real landing time, which is why most late arrivals book ahead.
Does the drive from Pearson to Niagara Falls use toll roads?
It can. The quickest routing sometimes uses the 407 ETR, an electronic toll highway billed by licence plate. A fixed fare from the booker covers the whole trip, so you never deal with the toll yourself.
