The simplest Fathers Day Niagara plan has two halves. The morning is golf on one of the public courses Niagara Parks runs along the river. The afternoon is beer: a taproom in a converted church, a brewery with a pizza oven, or a patio with a view of the falls. The only real problem with that plan is the drive between the two, and the drive home after the second.
NiagaraFallsLimo.net solves that part. This post covers the rest: which course, how to fit the clubs, where the breweries are and how to shape the day for a father who would rather watch than swing.
What is a good Father's Day plan in Niagara?
Book a morning tee time at Niagara Parks' Legends on the Niagara or Whirlpool Golf Course, each about 8 km (5 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, then visit craft breweries in Virgil, about 18 km (11 mi) north. NiagaraFallsLimo.net provides an SUV with room for clubs, by the hour, at a fixed fare shown in its online booker.
From Toronto, add about 130 km (80 mi) each way, usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 early on a Sunday. That makes a 7 am pickup from the city realistic for a 9 am tee time.
Father's Day 2027 is Sunday, June 20
Father's Day in Canada and the United States is the third Sunday of June. In 2027 that is June 20. Book in this order:
- Tee time first. Weekend mornings in June are the most sought-after slots at public courses. Niagara Parks takes bookings through its tee-time page.
- The car second, once you know the tee time and the size of the foursome.
- Dinner third, if the day ends at a restaurant.
Choosing the course
Niagara Parks runs four layouts, per its courses page:
- Legends on the Niagara – Battlefield. A Douglas Carrick design that hosted the 2004 Canadian Women's Open, with rolling fairways and water features.
- Legends on the Niagara – Ussher's Creek. A Thomas McBroom course with thick stands of trees, wetland hazards and long fescue rough.
- Legends on the Niagara – Chippawa. A nine-hole course, useful for a father playing with younger children or a shorter morning.
- Whirlpool Golf Course. North of the falls on the Niagara Parkway, described by Niagara Parks as one of Canada's most celebrated public courses.
Legends sits south of the falls at 9561 Niagara Parkway, about 8.5 km (5 mi) from Fallsview, usually 10 to 15 minutes. Whirlpool is north, about 8 km (5 mi), also 10 to 15 minutes. If the afternoon is heading toward Niagara-on-the-Lake, Whirlpool is already on the way. Our golf transportation service page covers course drop-offs in more detail.
Clubs, shoes and the right vehicle
Golf bags are the part of the plan most people forget when they choose a car. Each full bag takes the space of a large suitcase.
| Vehicle class | Passengers | Bags | Golf fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Sedan | up to 3 | 2 large | Two golfers with bags |
| Standard SUV | up to 6 | 6 | A foursome with bags and shoes |
| Executive Black SUV | up to 6 | 6 | A foursome, more polish |
| Executive Sprinter | up to 12 | carry-on only | Non-golfing family joining for the brewery half |
The Executive Sprinter carries more people but is listed for carry-on luggage only, so it is the right vehicle for the afternoon, not for four sets of clubs. Some families book an SUV for the golf and add a second vehicle for the rest of the family to join at the first brewery.
June is warm. The Environment Canada 1981–2010 normals for the Niagara Parks station on the Parkway show an average June high of about 24.5 °C, with a few days above 30 °C. Thunderstorms are uncommon but do happen; courses will pull players off for lightning. A car that waits nearby is useful if the round ends early.
The brewery half of the day
Three craft breweries make an easy afternoon, two of them about 3 km apart on Niagara Stone Road:
Silversmith Brewing Company, Virgil. Its taproom, The Church, is a former church dating to the 1890s at 1523 Niagara Stone Road, with vaulted ceilings and a bar made from reclaimed barn wood, according to Silversmith. It also serves a Sunday brunch from 11:30 am to 3 pm. About 18 km (11 mi) from Fallsview, usually 20 to 25 minutes.
Oast House Brewers, Niagara-on-the-Lake. At 2017 Niagara Stone Road, about 3 km (2 mi) from Silversmith, with Patina Pizza operating on site and a summer live-music series, per Oast House.
Niagara Brewing Company, Clifton Hill. Back near the falls at 4915-A Clifton Hill, with a street-level patio and an upper patio overlooking the falls, plus a 65-seat Taproom in the Fallsview Casino Resort Galleria, as listed by Niagara Falls Tourism. It works as a final stop before dinner on Clifton Hill.
More breweries, cideries and distilleries are on our craft breweries and distilleries page, and the sibling post on a craft brewery tour by private driver maps a longer route.
A note that applies to every brewery and every car we run: no drinking in the vehicle. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids drivers to permit it, and Ontario's liquor law has no limousine exception. Growlers and cans you buy travel sealed in the trunk. The chauffeur never drinks; that is the whole point of having one.
Two ways to run the day
Plan A: golf, then Niagara-on-the-Lake
- 8:15 am – pickup at a Fallsview hotel with clubs loaded.
- 8:45 am – tee time at Whirlpool.
- 1:15 pm – lunch near the course or straight on to Virgil.
- 2:00 pm – Silversmith.
- 3:30 pm – Oast House.
- 5:00 pm – Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake for a walk on Queen Street.
- 6:30 pm – back to Fallsview, about 24 km (15 mi), 25 to 30 minutes.
Plan B: golf, then the falls
- 8:30 am – pickup, tee time at Legends.
- 1:30 pm – back to the hotel to change.
- 3:00 pm – the Niagara Parks Power Station, which offers a 45-minute guided tour including the restored control room and a Tesla coil demonstration.
- 5:00 pm – Niagara Brewing Company's upper patio.
- Evening – dinner, then the falls illumination after dark.
Plan B keeps the driving short, and the Power Station suits fathers who like machinery as much as golf.
If Dad would rather not play
Not every father golfs. Good alternatives within a short drive:
- Fort George National Historic Site in Niagara-on-the-Lake, with costumed musket and music demonstrations in season.
- Niagara Helicopters, flying daily from 9 am until sunset, weather permitting.
- A brewery-only afternoon, starting at Silversmith's Sunday brunch and ending at Clifton Hill.
Getting there from Toronto or across the border
Most Father's Day groups start in the Greater Toronto Area. The Toronto to Niagara Falls route runs about 130 km (80 mi) along the QEW, and an early Sunday start avoids most of the traffic that builds after 10 am in June. Families staying in Buffalo or Niagara Falls, New York, can be collected on the American side; the chauffeur crosses the bridge with you, and every passenger needs their own valid passport or approved travel document. Bridge queues on summer Sundays vary hour by hour, so a morning crossing toward Canada and an evening return usually work best.
Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Clubs and bags | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rideshare | Fine in town; slow to find at rural breweries | Surge pricing on busy Sundays | Most cars take one or two bags | A single ride to the course |
| Taxi | Similar | Metered | One or two bags | Short trips near the falls |
| WEGO bus | Slow; not designed for golf bags | WEGO 24-hour adult pass $16 (as of 2026) | No | Sightseeing only |
| Driving yourself | Quick to the course; someone skips the beer | Fuel, parking | Your trunk | Families with a non-drinking driver |
| Private chauffeur by the hour | Waits at the course and each brewery | Fixed fare via booker | SUV takes a foursome's bags | Foursomes, fathers and adult children, mixed family groups |
The honest verdict: one golfer staying in Fallsview who only needs a ride to Legends and back can manage with a taxi, as long as the car fits the clubs. As soon as there are four sets of clubs, two or three breweries, or a family that wants to toast Dad without anyone driving afterwards, one booked SUV for the day is the cleaner answer. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide explains the general trade-offs.

Who this plan suits
Groups of friends or a father with adult sons and daughters are the classic fit; our groups page has more. Families with younger children can use the nine-hole Chippawa course and Plan B. Couples sometimes turn it into a weekend, with golf on Saturday and a slower Sunday. Individuals travelling alone for business can still fit a round between meetings. For May, read the companion post on Mother's Day in Niagara, and for the rest of the season, summer in Niagara Falls.
Frequently asked questions
When is Father's Day 2027?
Sunday, June 20, 2027. Father's Day in Canada and the United States is the third Sunday of June. Book tee times as early as possible, since weekend mornings in June are the busiest slots at Niagara's public courses.
What golf courses are near Niagara Falls, Ontario?
Niagara Parks runs Legends on the Niagara, with the Battlefield and Ussher's Creek championship courses and the nine-hole Chippawa, south of the falls, and Whirlpool Golf Course to the north. Both are about 8 km from the Fallsview hotels.
Can a limo carry golf clubs?
Yes, if you choose the right class. A Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV seats up to six with room for six bags, enough for a foursome's clubs. The Executive Sprinter and stretch limousines are listed for carry-on or minimal luggage, so they suit the brewery afternoon instead.
Which breweries are near Niagara-on-the-Lake?
Silversmith Brewing, in a former church on Niagara Stone Road in Virgil, and Oast House Brewers, about 3 km away on the same road, are the two most visited. Niagara Brewing Company is on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls, with a Taproom at Fallsview Casino Resort.
Can we drink beer in the car between breweries?
No. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids drivers to permit alcohol consumption in the vehicle, and NiagaraFallsLimo.net applies it in every car. Cans and growlers travel sealed in the trunk. The chauffeur never drinks.
How early should we leave Toronto for a morning tee time?
The drive from downtown Toronto to the Niagara Parks courses is about 130 km (80 mi), usually 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 on an early Sunday. For a 9 am tee time, a 7 am pickup leaves room to check in and warm up.
Is there a nine-hole option for younger golfers?
Yes. Legends on the Niagara includes the Chippawa course, a nine-hole layout designed to complement the two championship courses. It suits a father playing with children or teenagers, or anyone who wants a shorter round before an afternoon at the breweries or the falls.
