Sarnia runs on shifts. When a plant turnaround or a long rotation wraps up, crews who have worked side by side for weeks often want one thing: a weekend somewhere with bright lights, a good dinner and nobody's alarm going off at 4:30. Niagara Falls is the obvious choice, and the casino strip on the escarpment is the usual target. The catch is the distance. Sarnia to Niagara Falls is a long run east across the province, and the person who volunteers to drive is the one person who cannot really relax. This guide shows how shift-worker groups book the trip through NiagaraFallsLimo.net so that everyone rides, nobody drives, and the return is settled before anyone leaves home.
How far is it from Sarnia to Niagara Falls?
Sarnia to Niagara Falls, Ontario is about 300 km (187 mi) via the 402, 401, 403 and QEW, usually 3 h 20 – 3 h 45 off-peak; allow four hours or more on a Friday. NiagaraFallsLimo.net collects a group in Sarnia and drops at the casino door; the booker shows the fixed fare before you pay.
That puts a Friday-noon departure at Fallsview by late afternoon, with time to check in, eat and be at the tables or in the theatre by evening.
The road east from Lambton County
The trip has an easy shape. The car takes Highway 402 out of Sarnia, past the Bluewater Bridge approaches and across Lambton County, to meet the 401 at London. From there the 401 runs east to Woodstock, where the 403 branches off toward Brantford and Hamilton. Through Hamilton most chauffeurs take the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway and the Red Hill Valley Parkway down to the QEW at Stoney Creek, then follow the QEW along the lake through Grimsby and St. Catharines to Niagara Falls.
The bottlenecks are predictable: the 401 around London at rush hour, Hamilton on weekday afternoons and the QEW on summer Fridays. Leaving Sarnia late morning on a weekday usually avoids all three. For readers joining from the halfway city, our London, Ontario route page covers the second half.
One loop, many addresses
Shutdown crews rarely live on one street. Some are in Sarnia proper, some in Point Edward, Corunna or Petrolia, and someone always lives out on a concession road. The booker handles this as a multi-stop trip:
- List every pickup address in order, with the name of the person at each.
- Put the farthest pickup first so the loop finishes at the 402 on-ramp, not on the far side of town.
- Allow about five to ten minutes per stop; the chauffeur texts each person when the vehicle is two minutes out.
- If someone is coming straight off a night shift, give them the last pickup and let them sleep on the road.
A meeting point works too. Some groups gather at one house or a plant-adjacent lot and leave their own cars there for the weekend; just make sure the owner of the lot has agreed.
Picking the vehicle for the group
The right vehicle depends on headcount and bags. For a casino weekend, bags are light — a duffel each — so the bigger passenger vehicles work well.
- Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz): up to 12 passengers, carry-on bags only. The usual choice for a crew of eight to twelve.
- Party Bus: up to 12 passengers and two bags, with a more social layout. Availability is confirmed at booking.
- Stretch SUV Limousine: up to 16 passengers with minimal luggage, for larger crews who want to arrive as one group. Availability is confirmed at booking.
- Executive Black SUV (Escalade / Navigator): up to six passengers and six bags, for a smaller group or a couple of supervisors heading down early.
- Coaches: available on request for very large groups.
Our group transportation page and the party bus page explain how capacity and luggage work in each vehicle.
The one rule that surprises people
There is no drinking in our vehicles, on the way down or on the way back. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law (2021-58, s. 43(9)) forbids a licensed driver to permit the consumption of alcohol in the vehicle, and Ontario's Liquor Licence and Control Act, 2019 allows liquor in a vehicle only if it is sealed or packed away. Party buses included. Groups that know this in advance plan accordingly: stop for a proper meal on the way, and save the round for the casino bar. Food, coffee, soft drinks and music are all fine.
At the casino: what to know before you arrive
Two casinos operate on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, both operated by MGE Niagara Entertainment:
- Fallsview Casino Resort sits on the escarpment above the Horseshoe Falls. Its site lists more than 3,200 slots and 110 tables, and two venues — the OLG Stage and the Avalon Theatre — host more than 320 shows a year. You must be 19 or older to enter the casino; bring government photo ID. Details are on the Fallsview Casino Resort site.
- Casino Niagara is on Falls Avenue beside Clifton Hill, with 95,000 sq ft of gaming on two floors, and it is open — the rumours of its closing are not true. See the Casino Niagara site.
The chauffeur drops at the main entrance of whichever property you choose. Groups staying at the casino resort's own hotel are covered in our Fallsview Casino Resort hotel guide, and our Fallsview Casino Resort attraction page has notes on shows and entrances. Fallsview also states that people prohibited from attending Ontario gaming sites are not permitted on the property, so plan the evening around anyone it affects.
A sample shutdown weekend
Friday. Pickup loop in Sarnia from 10:30 a.m.; on the 402 by 11:15. Lunch stop near London or Woodstock. Check-in at a Fallsview hotel around 3:30 p.m. Dinner, then the casino or a show.
Saturday. The car is not needed in Fallsview — the casino, the hotels, Clifton Hill and the Falls are close together, and the WEGO bus links the main sites. If the crew wants a winery afternoon or a trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake, book a few hours "By the hour" and the chauffeur drives the whole day.
Sunday. Late checkout, a big breakfast, and the return leaves at 1 p.m. The westbound drive tends to be easier than Toronto-bound traffic on a Sunday, and the group is home before dark in most seasons.
For crews who would rather do a single long night, a same-day run works too: down in the afternoon, back after midnight. It makes for a seven-hour round of driving plus the evening, so book it with a fixed return time and expect to sleep on the way home. Our casino limo service explains late-night returns.
Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps
- Map the loop. Enter each Sarnia-area pickup in order, then the Niagara hotel or casino as the drop-off, with the date and the first pickup time.
- Choose a vehicle. Compare a Sprinter, the party bus and the Stretch SUV against your headcount; each shows a fixed fare for the whole vehicle, so splitting it is simple maths for the group.
- Lock in the return and pay. Add the Sunday return as a second leg, list passenger names, and pay securely. The confirmation comes by email, and the organiser can forward it to the crew.

Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeur (Sprinter, party bus, Stretch SUV) | 3 h 20 – 3 h 45 off-peak plus the pickup loop | Fixed fare via booker for the whole vehicle | Duffels and carry-ons | Crews of 6–16 travelling together |
| Two or three personal cars | 3 h 20 – 3 h 45 each | Fuel plus hotel parking for every car | Plenty | Groups who want cars in Niagara and have sober drivers |
| VIA Rail + GO train | Most of a day, via London or Toronto | Per-person rail fares | What you carry | Solo travellers who like trains |
| Rideshare app | Not practical for 300 km | Surge pricing | Small cars | Local rides once in Niagara |
| Taxi | Not practical for 300 km | Metered | Trunk only | Short hops in Niagara Falls |
The honest verdict. Once you are in Fallsview, you do not need us for short trips; a local taxi, a rideshare or the WEGO bus is fine for getting between the hotel, Clifton Hill and the Falls. For one or two travellers, VIA Rail's Sarnia station on Green Street connects east by rail — see the VIA Rail Sarnia station page — though reaching Niagara means changes and most of a day. For a crew, the private vehicle wins on the things that matter after weeks of shifts: one pickup loop, no designated driver, a fixed fare split evenly, and a return that leaves at the time you chose. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide gives the general picture.
Who this suits
Groups are the core of this post — crews, union locals, sports teams and anyone celebrating the end of a long job. Couples from Sarnia use the same route for a quieter weekend in a sedan or the Mercedes, often with a show at the OLG Stage. Individuals heading to a conference or a stag weekend sometimes book a sedan to arrive rested. Families use the trip in summer for the Falls, the boats and Clifton Hill, with booster seats added in the booker. More on how we handle large parties is on our groups page.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to get from Sarnia to Niagara Falls?
Usually 3 h 20 – 3 h 45 off-peak for the roughly 300 km (187 mi) from Sarnia to the Fallsview casino area. Allow four hours or more on Friday afternoons, holiday weekends or in winter weather, and add time for a pickup loop and a meal stop.
Can we drink in the limo or party bus on the way to the casino?
No. Drinking is not permitted in our vehicles, including party buses. Niagara Region's by-law forbids a licensed driver to allow it, and Ontario law requires any liquor in a vehicle to be sealed or packed away. Eat on the way and enjoy a drink at your destination.
How old do you have to be to enter Fallsview Casino?
Fallsview Casino Resort says you must be 19 or older to enter the casino. Bring valid government photo ID. Shows at the OLG Stage and the Avalon Theatre may carry their own age rules, so check the event page before you buy tickets.
Can you pick up crew members from several addresses?
Yes. Add each address as a stop in the booker, in the order you want them collected. Put the farthest stop first, allow five to ten minutes per stop, and the chauffeur will text each passenger shortly before arriving.
Which vehicle fits a crew of twelve?
The Executive Sprinter seats up to 12 with carry-on bags, and the party bus also seats 12 with two bags. For up to 16 with minimal luggage, the Stretch SUV Limousine works, subject to availability confirmed at booking.
Can we come back the same night?
Yes, with a return time fixed at booking. It is a long round trip — roughly seven hours of driving plus your evening — so most crews choose an overnight stay. If you go same-day, book the return for a set time and keep the group together for it.
How is the fare worked out?
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickups, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. Because the fare is for the whole vehicle, the organiser can divide it evenly across the crew.
What if the shutdown schedule changes?
Rebook as early as you can. Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice has no charge, 72 hours or less is 10%, 48 hours or less 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%.
