Georgetown is a commuter town in the best sense: close enough to the city to work there, far enough out to have a main street, a river valley and quiet evenings. Many couples in Halton Hills spend their week on the GO train or the highway, which is exactly why an anniversary is not the night to drive. The Falls are near enough for an evening out and far enough to feel like a trip. This guide covers the Georgetown to Niagara Falls ride as the NiagaraFallsLimo.net desk plans it for anniversaries, with three ways to spend the night and the timing that makes each one work.
How long is the drive from Georgetown to Niagara Falls?
Georgetown to Niagara Falls, Ontario is about 121 km (75 mi), south through Halton Hills to the 407 ETR and the QEW, usually 1 h 35 – 1 h 50 off-peak; allow 2 h 15 on a Friday evening. NiagaraFallsLimo.net picks you up at home; the booker shows the fixed fare before you pay.
From Acton or Glen Williams add ten to fifteen minutes. Either way, the Falls are close enough for a dinner and back the same night, and close enough that an overnight does not eat a whole weekend.
The way down from Halton Hills
The car usually heads south out of Georgetown through the fields and the edge of Milton toward the 407 ETR, then follows the 407 east and south to meet the QEW at Burlington. From there it is the lakeshore run across the Skyway, past Stoney Creek, Grimsby and St. Catharines, and into Niagara Falls. The 407 has no toll booths and bills by transponder or licence-plate photo; on our service, the route is already inside the fixed fare.
This line keeps you well away from the city: no 401 through Mississauga, no Gardiner. On a Friday afternoon the slow part is the QEW between Burlington and St. Catharines as weekend traffic heads for Niagara. A pickup around 4 p.m. on a Friday, or any time on a Saturday or a weekday, usually avoids the worst of it.
Couples a little further south have their own guide to Milton to Niagara Falls by chauffeur, which covers the 401 to QEW approach.
Three anniversary evenings, three plans
1. Dinner above the Falls and the lights
The classic. Leave Georgetown around 4:30 p.m., arrive in time for an early dinner and stay for the illumination. The Skylon Tower's Revolving Dining Room sits 775 ft above the Falls and turns a full circle each hour; a dinner reservation includes the observation deck. Details are on the Skylon Tower site and our Skylon Tower guide.
After dinner, the Falls are lit every night of the year; illumination starts between 4:30 p.m. in November and December and 8:30 p.m. in high summer, according to Niagara Parks. The chauffeur drops you near the railing, waits, and has you home before midnight.
2. An overnight in Niagara-on-the-Lake
For a slower anniversary, book one way to Niagara-on-the-Lake and a return the next afternoon. Old Town is about 24 km north of the Falls, with heritage inns such as the Prince of Wales Hotel on Picton Street — see the Prince of Wales Hotel site and our Prince of Wales Hotel page. The Shaw Festival's holiday shows run through December 23, 2026, and the season usually returns in spring. Add a "By the hour" block the next morning if you want a chauffeur for winery visits before heading home.
3. A winter night of lights
From November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027, the Winter Festival of Lights runs along the Niagara Parkway, Fallsview and Lundy's Lane, lit nightly from 5 p.m., with fireworks at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from November 14, then nightly from December 18 to January 2. It is free, and the best of it is seen from a slowly moving car along the Parkway. Our Winter Festival of Lights page explains how a chauffeured drive-through works.

Staying the night on the Falls side
Couples who would rather wake up near the Falls than in wine country have plenty of choice along Fallsview Boulevard. For something with more character than a tower, the Old Stone Inn Boutique Hotel at 6080 Fallsview Boulevard was built as a flour mill in 1904 and restored in 1977; its restaurant is The Flour Mill, and details are on the Old Stone Inn site. Book the outbound ride to arrive at check-in time, ask for a late checkout, and set the return for early afternoon the next day, which keeps you ahead of the Sunday traffic heading back toward the city. The chauffeur meets you at the hotel entrance with the bags already in hand, and the drive home along the QEW and the 407 takes about the same hour and three-quarters as the trip down.
Timing the evening around the lights
The single most useful thing to know is when the illumination begins on your date. In summer it starts late, so an 8:30 p.m. dinner can finish just as the lights come on. In November and December it starts at about 4:30 p.m., which means the lights are already on when you arrive, and the Winter Festival of Lights makes the drive itself part of the evening.
The summer fireworks over the Falls ran nightly at 10 p.m. from May 15 to October 12 in 2026 and are now finished for the year; the series has usually returned in mid-May. If fireworks matter for your date, check our fireworks and illumination guide before booking dinner.
Choosing the car for the occasion
- Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class: up to two passengers, two bags. Quiet and understated; the most popular anniversary choice on this route.
- Mercedes-Maybach or Rolls-Royce: up to two passengers, two bags, for a milestone year. Availability is confirmed at booking, so reserve early.
- Stretch Limousine: up to eight with minimal luggage, if the anniversary is a family celebration with grown children along. Availability is confirmed at booking.
- Executive Black SUV: up to six with six bags, for two couples sharing an overnight.
Our anniversary and proposal service explains how to tell the chauffeur about a surprise — a proposal at the railing, a timed arrival at the restaurant — so the plan stays quiet until the moment.
The no-champagne rule, and what to do instead
Couples sometimes ask for a bottle to open on the way. We cannot do that: there is no drinking in our vehicles. Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids drivers to permit it, and Ontario's Liquor Licence and Control Act allows liquor in a vehicle only sealed or packed away. What works instead:
- Add a sealed bottle in the booker as a gift to take away and open at your hotel or at home.
- Book the toast at the restaurant, where it belongs.
- If you are visiting wineries, let the chauffeur carry your purchases in the trunk.
Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps
- Set the evening. Enter your Georgetown or Halton Hills address, the restaurant or hotel in Niagara, and the pickup time — work back from your dinner reservation, allowing about 1 h 50.
- Pick the car. Compare the Mercedes, the Maybach, the Rolls-Royce or an SUV; each class shows its fixed fare for your trip. Book a return or a "By the hour" evening if the chauffeur should stay.
- Add the touches and pay. A sealed bottle as a gift, notes about a surprise, the return time. Pay securely; confirmation arrives by email.

Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeur | 1 h 35 – 1 h 50 off-peak from your door | Fixed fare via booker, including waiting if booked by the hour | Overnight bags | Anniversaries, proposals, dinner-and-lights evenings |
| Rideshare app | Similar driving time, if a car accepts from Halton Hills | Surge pricing on Friday and Saturday evenings; return late at night is uncertain | Depends on car | A casual daytime trip |
| Taxi | Similar driving time | Metered over about 121 km | Trunk only | Local trips in Georgetown |
| GO / VIA train via Union | 3 h or more with the change at Union | GO fares by distance | What you carry | Daytime trips when trains line up |
| Driving yourself | 1 h 35 – 1 h 50 plus parking | Fuel, 407 tolls, parking | Your own car | Evenings without wine with dinner |
The honest verdict. Georgetown station, at King and Queen Streets, serves GO's Kitchener line and VIA Rail — see the VIA Rail Georgetown station page — and a daytime trip by train with a change at Union is perfectly possible. A rideshare is fine for a casual afternoon. For an anniversary evening, though, the return is the problem: late trains are few, and a rideshare from Niagara to Halton Hills at 11 p.m. is not something to count on. A pre-booked car means wine with dinner, no parking, and a ride home that is already arranged. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide explains the general trade-offs.
Who this suits
Couples are the reason for this guide: anniversaries, proposals and milestone birthdays, see our couples page. Families book a stretch limousine for parents' big anniversaries, with grown children along. Groups of two or three couples share an SUV or a Sprinter for a joint celebration. Individuals use the same route for a solo stay at a Fallsview hotel — the Fallsview hotels guide lists them.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Georgetown from Niagara Falls?
About 121 km (75 mi) by road, usually 1 h 35 – 1 h 50 off-peak via the 407 ETR and the QEW. On a Friday evening allow about 2 h 15. From Acton or Glen Williams, add ten to fifteen minutes.
Can we do dinner at the Falls and come home the same night?
Yes. Leave Halton Hills around 4:30 p.m., have dinner, see the illumination and be home before midnight. Book a return or a "By the hour" evening so the chauffeur waits nearby and the ride home is fixed in advance.
Can we have champagne in the car?
No. There is no drinking in our vehicles; Niagara Region's by-law forbids drivers to permit it, and Ontario law requires liquor in a vehicle to be sealed or packed away. Add a sealed bottle in the booker as a gift to take away and open later.
When do the Falls light up?
Every night of the year. According to Niagara Parks, the illumination starts between 4:30 p.m. in November and December and 8:30 p.m. from mid-May to the end of July, and runs until 1 or 2 a.m. depending on the season.
Can you help with a proposal?
Yes. Describe the plan in the booking notes — the spot, the timing, any props — and the chauffeur will time the arrival and wait discreetly. Our anniversary and proposal service page explains the options.
Is there a train from Georgetown to Niagara Falls?
Georgetown station serves the GO Kitchener line and VIA Rail. To reach Niagara Falls, change at Union Station for a GO train. It works for a daytime visit but is less convenient for a late anniversary dinner.
How much does the evening cost?
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off, vehicle and booking type before you pay, with no meter and no surge pricing.
How far ahead should we book a Rolls-Royce or Maybach?
As early as you can, especially for Saturdays from May to October and during the Winter Festival of Lights. Availability for these cars is confirmed at booking.
