Fallsview Boulevard is the ridge of tall hotels you see in every photograph of the Horseshoe Falls. The Hilton, the Fallsview Casino Resort, the Wyndham Grand, the Hyatt Regency and the two Marriotts all line it, sitting on the high ground above the Niagara Parkway. The view is the reason to stay there. The slope between the lobby and the river railing is the thing guests do not think about until they walk it.
For travellers who walk slowly, use a cane or a wheelchair, or simply do not want a climb after dinner, that slope shapes the whole stay. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives guests up and down it every day, and our chauffeurs will tell you honestly when you do not need us.
How far is it from Fallsview Boulevard hotels to the falls?
From Fallsview Boulevard hotels to Table Rock at the Horseshoe Falls is about 1.3 to 1.7 km on foot, roughly 17 to 23 minutes downhill and longer coming back up. The Falls Incline Railway shortens the climb. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives the same stretch in a few minutes; the booker shows a fixed fare first.
Our walking estimates, by footpath routing at an easy pace, from each hotel's main entrance to Table Rock Centre:
| Hotel (Fallsview Boulevard) | To Table Rock on foot | Easy walking time |
|---|---|---|
| Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview, 6361 | about 1.3 km | about 17 min |
| Fallsview Casino Resort, 6380 | about 1.4 km | about 19 min |
| Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview, 6700 | about 1.6 km | about 22 min |
| Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview, 6740 | about 1.7 km | about 23 min |
| DoubleTree Fallsview Resort, 6039 | about 2.0 km | about 27 min |
Add a third again for the walk back up, and more if you stop to rest. For other destinations: the Skylon Tower is about 600 m from the Hilton, around eight minutes, and Clifton Hill is about 1.4 to 1.5 km from the Hilton and the casino, roughly twenty minutes, with a downhill finish.
Why the walk feels longer than it looks
The falls sit at the bottom of a slope. Fallsview Boulevard runs along the top of it, and the Niagara Parkway runs along the river below. Between them are Portage Road, the Fallsview Casino grounds, Murray Street and the parkland around Table Rock.
Going down is pleasant. Coming back after a long day at the water, in a damp coat from the boat or Journey Behind the Falls, is where people tire. In winter the paths can be icy; in high summer, the afternoon heat on the slope is real. Neither is a reason to avoid walking. Both are reasons to plan the return.
Option one: the Falls Incline Railway
Niagara Parks runs a short funicular that links the Fallsview tourist area with Table Rock Centre, with riders crossing the Niagara Parkway on the "Bridge of Flowers" pedestrian bridge. It is at 7001 Portage Road.
What the official page says, as of 2026:
- Open year-round, fully accessible and climate-controlled.
- Fares: $4 one way, $8 round trip, $10 all day, for all ages; children two and under ride free.
- Planned closures: a maintenance closure from Monday, October 26 to Saturday, November 7, 2026, with a WEGO shuttle running daily from the top of the railway to Table Rock Centre from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and an annual closure from January 19 to February 13, also covered by a WEGO shuttle.
For most guests at the Hilton, the casino or the Hyatt Regency, the incline is the obvious answer. You still walk from your hotel to the top station on Portage Road, which is short from the middle of the strip and longer from either end.
Option two: WEGO
WEGO is Niagara Parks' hop-on, hop-off visitor bus. It runs year-round, with frequent stops at major attractions and hotels, and its lines meet at Table Rock Centre. As of 2026 a 24-hour adult pass is $16 and a 48-hour pass $20; children 3 to 12 pay $12 and $16. Check the WEGO page for the current route map, as Niagara Parks revised the Blue Line route recently.
WEGO works well for a full day of Niagara Parks sightseeing. It is less helpful for one quick trip down and back at a time of your choosing.
Option three: a car to the door
A pre-booked car takes you from the hotel porte-cochère to Table Rock, the Skylon Tower or Clifton Hill in a few minutes, and collects you at an agreed time. The chauffeur sets you down as close to the entrance as traffic control at Table Rock allows on the day.
Driving yourself is possible but less convenient than it sounds. As of 2026 most Niagara Parks pay-and-display lots charge $8 per hour, and no Niagara Parks lot allows overnight parking.

When walking is the right answer
We would rather you walked when walking suits you:
- Fit, unhurried and dry weather. The walk down is a pleasure, with the falls in front of you the whole way.
- Hotels near the incline. From the Hilton or the casino, walk to the top station, ride down, and ride back up later.
- Short hops. The Skylon Tower from the Hilton is eight minutes on foot. Nobody needs a car for that.
When a ride helps
- Limited mobility. Our booker includes a wheelchair option; tell us about walkers, scooters and folding chairs when you book. See accessible transportation.
- The return trip after dinner or the fireworks. A 10 p.m. climb in the dark is the part most older travellers would skip if they could.
- Bad weather. Freezing rain, deep snow or a heat wave.
- Incline closures. Late October to early November in 2026, and late January to mid-February every year.
- Anywhere beyond the falls. The Floral Clock, Niagara Glen, the Butterfly Conservatory and Niagara-on-the-Lake are well beyond walking distance.
A gentle day planned around the slope
Here is how we would plan a first full day for two older travellers staying at the Hyatt Regency, the former Embassy Suites, at 6700 Fallsview Boulevard. Niagara Falls Tourism's listing gives the address; our Fallsview hotels page compares it with its neighbours.
- 9:30 a.m. A short walk to the top of the Falls Incline Railway, then the ride down and across the Bridge of Flowers to Table Rock Centre.
- 10:00 a.m. Journey Behind the Falls, at the Table Rock Welcome Centre. An elevator takes you 125 ft down to a wide, well-lit accessible tunnel, the viewing portals and the upper observation deck; only the lower observation deck is reached by stairs, and Niagara Parks rates the attraction partially accessible. Niagara Parks is building a covered, heated viewing platform as part of its current upgrades, and the attraction stays open during the work.
- 11:30 a.m. Coffee and a seat with a view inside Table Rock Centre, then a slow walk along the railing.
- 1:00 p.m. Lunch at Table Rock House Restaurant, on the brink of the falls.
- 2:30 p.m. The incline back up and a rest at the hotel.
- 7:00 p.m. A car from the hotel door to dinner, and back again at 9:30 p.m., so the evening ends without a climb.
The only paid ride in that day is the evening one. That is usually the right balance.
Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Walking | 17–27 min down, longer up | Free | None | Fit travellers in good weather |
| Falls Incline Railway | A few minutes once at the top station | $4 one way (as of 2026) | Hand bags | Hilton, casino and Hyatt guests |
| WEGO | Depends on the timetable | $16 adult 24-hour pass (as of 2026) | Hand bags | All-day Niagara Parks sightseeing |
| Rideshare | Short, if a car accepts a short fare | Surge pricing at busy times | Standard trunk | Occasional hops |
| Taxi | Short | Metered | Standard trunk | One-off trips from the hotel rank |
| Private chauffeur | Door to door, at the time you set | Fixed fare via booker | Wheelchair option, child seats | Limited mobility, evenings, several stops |
Verdict: for a single trip down and back, the incline plus a short walk is inexpensive, accessible and quick, and a hotel-rank taxi is a fair fallback. A pre-booked car is the better choice when mobility is limited, when the return is late in the evening, when weather turns, or when the day continues beyond the falls. Our chauffeur, taxi and rideshare guide sets out the wider comparison.

Who this suits
Older travellers and anyone with limited mobility get the most from a planned ride on this slope. Couples staying at the Marriotts or the Hyatt Regency might walk down and ride back. Families with strollers can use the incline, which is fully accessible, and save the car for the evening. Groups can share one SUV or Sprinter for a dinner at the bottom of the hill. If you are choosing between hotels, our Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview and Hyatt Regency Fallsview pages give each property's position on the strip. Our sibling posts on accessible viewpoints and rides for seniors and on hotel shuttles vs a private car go further.
Frequently asked questions
Can you walk from Fallsview hotels to the falls?
Yes. From most Fallsview Boulevard hotels it is about 1.3 to 1.7 km to Table Rock, roughly 17 to 23 minutes downhill. The walk back up takes longer. The Falls Incline Railway shortens the climb between the Fallsview area and Table Rock Centre.
How much is the Falls Incline Railway?
As of 2026 Niagara Parks lists $4 one way, $8 round trip and $10 for an all-day pass, for all ages, with children two and under free. It is open year-round apart from planned maintenance closures.
Is the Falls Incline Railway wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Niagara Parks describes it as fully accessible and climate-controlled. You still need to reach the top station on Portage Road from your hotel, so allow for that short distance.
Is the Incline Railway open in November 2026?
It is closed for maintenance from October 26, 2026 and expected to reopen by November 7, 2026. During the closure Niagara Parks runs a WEGO shuttle from the top of the railway to Table Rock Centre daily, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Which Fallsview hotel is closest to the falls?
By walking distance to Table Rock, the Hilton at 6361 Fallsview Boulevard and the Fallsview Casino Resort at 6380 are among the closest, at about 1.3 to 1.4 km. The Hyatt Regency and the Marriott Fallsview, further south, are about 1.6 to 1.7 km.
Can I park near Table Rock instead of walking?
Niagara Parks operates pay-and-display lots, most at $8 per hour as of 2026, and none allow overnight parking. Spaces near Table Rock fill on busy days, which is why many guests take the incline or a car instead.
Is a taxi or a chauffeur better for a short ride from Fallsview?
For a one-off ride, a taxi from the hotel rank is fine. A pre-booked chauffeur is better when you need a set pickup time, a wheelchair option, child seats, or several stops in an evening.
