Clifton Hill Night Out With a Driver: Arcades, SkyWheel and Easy Pickups

Neon, arcades, a 175-foot wheel and attractions open past midnight on weekends. The hard part of a Clifton Hill night is not the fun; it is parking on the way in and finding a ride on the way out.

At ten on a Saturday night in August, Clifton Hill is the brightest street in Ontario. The arcades are full, the SkyWheel gondolas are turning against the dark, and families who said "one more hour" two hours ago are still there. Getting onto the hill is easy. Getting off it at midnight with tired children, a bag of arcade prizes and twenty other parties all opening a rideshare app at once is the part nobody plans. NiagaraFallsLimo.net books plenty of these evenings, and the trick is always the same: a fixed pickup point and a fixed time.

How do you plan a Clifton Hill night out without parking?

Clifton Hill sits one block from the Falls at 4960 Clifton Hill, Niagara Falls, Ontario, about 1.7 km (1 mi) and 3–5 minutes by car from the Fallsview hotels. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drops you at the hill and collects you at a set time and corner; book it by the hour or as two rides in the online booker.

The street climbs from the river at Falls Avenue up to Victoria Avenue, lined with attractions, restaurants and shops. Its own site calls it the "Street of Fun". From Lundy's Lane motels the drive is a few kilometres; from Niagara-on-the-Lake it is about 25 km, usually 30–40 minutes.

What is actually open late

Clifton Hill keeps long hours, but not every attraction keeps the same ones. Here is what the Clifton Hill hours page showed in October 2026; hours change by season, so check the week you go.

AttractionWeeknights closeFriday and Saturday close
Niagara SkyWheelMidnight2:00 a.m.
Great Canadian Midway (arcade)Midnight2:00 a.m.
Strike Game ZoneMidnight2:00 a.m.
Ghostblasters Dark Ride11:00 p.m.1:00 a.m.
Dinosaur Adventure Golf11:00 p.m.1:00 a.m.
Niagara Speedway10:00 p.m.1:30 a.m.

That table explains why so many families leave the hill late: the arcade and the wheel are open as long as the energy lasts. It also tells you when the crush comes. On a Friday or Saturday, the last surge of departures is around closing at 1 to 2 a.m., with a smaller wave around 11 p.m. as families with young children give up.

Parking on Clifton Hill, and why you may not want to

There is plenty of parking, if you are willing to pay for it and walk. The Clifton Hill parking page describes a lot of more than 700 spaces on Victoria Avenue, across from the Vittoria Hotel and beside the Niagara SkyWheel, with two ways in and three ways out. Other paid lots surround the hill.

The issues with driving yourself are not about finding a space:

  • Exits back up when a whole street of attractions closes within the same hour.
  • Someone has to stay sober, which matters if the adults want a drink with dinner.
  • Out-of-province drivers meet one-way streets and pedestrian crossings packed with people at night.

With a chauffeur the evening shortens to two moments: getting out of the car, and getting back in.

Choose one pickup corner and one time

This is the whole method. Before you leave the car, agree with your chauffeur on:

  1. The corner. Either the top of the hill at Victoria Avenue, near the SkyWheel and the big lot, or the bottom at Falls Avenue, near Casino Niagara and the hotels on that street. The top is better if you end at the wheel or the arcade; the bottom is better if you finish with a walk to see the illuminated falls. Your chauffeur will suggest a spot where a car can safely pull in that evening.
  2. The time. Pick a realistic end, not a hopeful one. With children under ten, 9:30 p.m. is usually honest; with teenagers, closing time is.
  3. The backup. If plans change, message the chauffeur. On an hourly booking the car is nearby; on a fixed-time return, give as much notice as you can.

Families staying on Lundy's Lane or in the Fallsview towers often book the car "By the hour" for the whole evening: dinner, the hill, a short drive to the lit falls, and back. Our hourly chauffeur page explains how the clock runs.

Set your Clifton Hill pickup

A sample evening for a family of five

  • 6:00 p.m. Pickup at a Lundy's Lane hotel; five minutes to the hill.
  • 6:15 p.m. Dinner at a family restaurant on the hill.
  • 7:30 p.m. Niagara SkyWheel. It rises 175 feet, the climate-controlled gondolas run year-round, and a ride lasts about 8–12 minutes, according to the SkyWheel page. After dark you look down on the illuminated falls.
  • 8:00 p.m. Mini golf or a dark ride, then the arcade.
  • 9:30 p.m. Walk down to Falls Avenue and across to the railing for the lit falls.
  • 9:45 p.m. Chauffeur at the Falls Avenue corner; back at the hotel before ten.

If you plan to do most of the attractions, the Clifton Hill Fun Pass bundles several of them; our Fun Pass half-day plan works out which ones fit. For a full list of what is on the hill, see Clifton Hill attractions without parking headaches.

What to carry, and what to leave in the car

A night on the hill is easier with less in your hands. Our usual advice:

  • Take: phones, one card per adult, a light jacket even in summer (the river breeze at the bottom of the hill is cool after dark), and a small bag for arcade prizes.
  • Leave in the car: strollers once children are asleep on a shoulder, spare clothes, shopping from earlier in the day and anything bulky.
  • Agree in advance: who holds the pickup details. One adult should have the chauffeur's message thread open, so the whole party is not searching for it at the corner.

On an hourly booking the vehicle doubles as a locker, which is useful on a hill with no public storage.

Teenagers, groups and the Speedway

Groups of teenagers come for the go-karts. The Niagara Speedway runs into the night on weekends, and our post on Niagara Speedway nights for teens and groups covers age rules and timing. For a birthday group of up to twelve, an Executive Sprinter drops everyone together and collects everyone together, which keeps a parent from counting heads on a crowded sidewalk. Larger school or club groups can ask about coaches.

Adults only: the casino end of the hill

At the bottom of Clifton Hill, Casino Niagara stands at 5705 Falls Avenue. In Ontario you must be 19 to enter a casino. Couples sometimes split the evening: the hill early, then the casino, then a car home. If you are heading up to the bigger resort on the escarpment instead, our Fallsview Casino Resort page covers its drop-off. For bars and clubs beyond the hill, see the nightlife and clubs guide. Whatever the night includes, there is no drinking in our vehicles, and the chauffeur never drinks.

Seasons on the hill

Clifton Hill is open all year, but the evening changes character:

  • Summer. Longest hours, biggest crowds, warm nights. The 2026 Niagara Parks fireworks ran at 10 p.m. nightly from May 15 to October 12, visible from the bottom of the hill.
  • Autumn. Shorter queues and Halloween attractions. Hours trim back on weeknights.
  • Winter. The Winter Festival of Lights runs from November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027, with fireworks at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from November 14, then nightly from December 18 to January 2. A car is welcome when it is minus ten and windy at the top of the hill.

Every night of the year the falls are lit; Niagara Parks' illumination schedule gives the start times.

The honest verdict. If you are two adults staying on Falls Avenue, you do not need a car at all; Clifton Hill is outside your door. A rideshare is also fine early in the evening. The chauffeur pays for itself at closing time on a weekend, when ride apps surge and the taxi line is long; for families with car seats; for groups who need to leave together; and in winter. Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps

  1. Enter your hotel and Clifton Hill. Choose "By the hour" for a waiting car, or book two rides with a fixed return time.
  2. Choose the size. Up to three in a Standard Sedan, six in a Standard SUV, twelve in an Executive Sprinter or Party Bus. Each shows a fixed fare before payment.
  3. Add seats and notes. Child and booster seats, your preferred pickup corner, then pay and receive the email confirmation.

Who this plan suits

Families are the main audience, and our families page covers child seats. Groups of friends or teenagers benefit from one vehicle in and out. Couples often use the car only for the late return. Individuals rarely need it unless they are staying out of town. If you have not booked a room yet, the Clifton Hill and Lundy's Lane hotels page lists the closest, and our core Clifton Hill page has the essentials.

Frequently asked questions

How late is Clifton Hill open?

Many attractions stay open late. In October 2026 the official hours page showed the Niagara SkyWheel and the Great Canadian Midway open until midnight on weeknights and 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, while other attractions closed between 10 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. Hours change by season, so check before you go.

Where do you park for Clifton Hill?

Clifton Hill's own lot has more than 700 spaces on Victoria Avenue, beside the SkyWheel and across from the Vittoria Hotel, and other paid lots surround the hill. With a NiagaraFallsLimo.net chauffeur you skip parking: you are dropped at the hill and collected at an agreed corner.

Is Clifton Hill walkable from the Fallsview hotels?

Yes, for most adults. It is about 1.7 km by road, a walk of roughly 20 to 30 minutes, downhill on the way there and uphill on the way back. Families with young children or older travellers often walk down and take a car back up at the end of the night.

Are there Ubers around Clifton Hill?

Yes, rideshare cars operate in Niagara Falls, and early in the evening they are easy to find. At weekend closing times, demand spikes and prices surge. A pre-booked car with a fixed fare and a known pickup corner avoids both the wait and the surge.

Is Clifton Hill good for kids at night?

Yes. The SkyWheel, mini golf, dark rides and the arcade all suit children, and the falls are lit every night. With young children, plan to finish by about 9:30 p.m. and arrange your pickup for that time rather than staying until the late crowds of a weekend.

Can we have drinks in the car after a night on Clifton Hill?

No. There is no drinking in NiagaraFallsLimo.net vehicles; Niagara Region's by-law forbids drivers to permit alcohol consumption in a vehicle for hire. The upside is that nobody in your group has to drive, and your chauffeur takes everyone back to the hotel.

How much is a car for a Clifton Hill night out?

It depends on the vehicle, your hotel and how long you want the car. The NiagaraFallsLimo.net booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay, for two point-to-point rides or for a car by the hour.
