The flight from Delhi lands at Pearson on Tuesday night, the ceremony is Thursday at 10 a.m., and grandparents who have never been to Canada want to see the Falls before they fly home on Sunday. That is a typical Brock University graduation week for an international family, and it is not very different for a family driving in from Ottawa or flying from Calgary. The ceremony is the fixed point; everything else has to fit around it.
NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives families to and from Brock's campus in St. Catharines each convocation season. This guide covers the timings Brock publishes, the distances that matter, and how to plan the days on either side of the ceremony.
When and where is Brock University graduation?
Brock's Faculty Handbook says Spring Convocation is normally held in the second week of June and Fall Convocation in the third week of October, in the Ian Beddis Gymnasium in the Walker Complex. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives families there from Pearson, about 111 km (69 mi), or Niagara Falls, about 18 km. Book online for a fixed fare.
Those dates come from Brock's Convocation FAQ, which also says the schedule is subject to confirmation by the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Services and is published once approved. The Fall 2026 ceremonies took place on 16 October 2026. The June 2027 schedule had not been published when we checked, so the university's own advice applies: wait for the official ceremony times before booking non-refundable travel. In recent years, spring ceremonies have run over four or five weekdays in the second week of June, with morning and afternoon sessions.
What Brock asks of graduates and guests
The rules on Brock's FAQ shape the transport plan more than people expect:
- Graduates arrive 60 to 90 minutes before their ceremony. Regalia is collected at the Bob Davis Gymnasium in the Walker Complex, and the graduates' procession begins 30 minutes before the start.
- Each graduate is limited to two guests because of limited seating, and from Fall 2026 guests need electronic tickets reserved by the graduate. Guests without a ticket are directed to an overflow room to watch the livestream.
- Regalia goes back within 60 minutes of the ceremony ending, to the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
- Free parking is available for graduates and guests in designated lots on convocation dates.
That last point deserves honesty: if the family is local and has a car, parking is not the problem. A chauffeur helps when the family is arriving by air, when there are more relatives than one car can hold, when grandparents need a door-to-door drop at the Walker Complex, or when the day ends with a dinner and wine in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Two transport plans for convocation day
Plan A: one car, two departures
The graduate needs to be on campus 60 to 90 minutes early; the two ticketed guests can arrive about 30 minutes before the start. With one booking "By the hour", the vehicle takes the graduate first, returns for the guests, waits through the ceremony and takes everyone to lunch. Our hourly chauffeur page explains how waiting time works.
Plan B: everyone together
Some families prefer to travel once, with everyone arriving early. The guests wait in the Walker Complex while the graduate collects regalia. This is simpler and suits families staying in Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake, where the drive is short.
Typical drive times to campus
- Fallsview hotels, Niagara Falls to Brock: about 18 km (11 mi), usually 20 to 25 minutes.
- Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake to Brock: about 25 km (15 mi), around 30 minutes.
- Downtown St. Catharines to Brock: about 6 km (4 mi), roughly 10 minutes.
- Jordan, Twenty Valley to Brock: about 16 km (10 mi), roughly 20 to 25 minutes.
- Hamilton City Hall to Brock: about 64 km (40 mi), usually 55 minutes to 1 h 10.
- Union Station, Toronto to Brock: about 119 km (74 mi), 1 h 30 to 1 h 50 off-peak, much longer at rush hour.
Convocation week adds campus traffic to an ordinary June weekday. For a 10 a.m. ceremony with a graduate due on site by 8:30 a.m., a pickup from Toronto needs to leave before the morning rush.
Families flying in
Toronto Pearson (YYZ)
Most international families land at Pearson, about 111 km (69 mi) from Brock, usually 1 h 25 to 1 h 50 off-peak. Flights are tracked, so a late arrival is not a missed pickup, and meet & greet inside arrivals with a name board is a booker option. After a long-haul flight, many families go straight to a hotel in St. Catharines or Niagara Falls and rest for a day before the ceremony. See the Toronto Pearson airport transfer page.
Buffalo Niagara (BUF)
Families from US cities often fly into Buffalo. Brock is about 65 km (41 mi) from the airport, including a bridge crossing into Canada, so allow extra time for the border. Every passenger must carry their own valid documents; our documents for entering Canada page lists them, and the Buffalo Niagara airport page covers the pickup.
Visas and invitations
Brock's FAQ notes that the Registrar's office does not provide invitations to convocation and points international families who need a Temporary Resident Visa to Brock International for the required documentation. Start that process early; it has nothing to do with transport, but it decides whether the family can come at all.
Lunch, dinner and the days around the ceremony
Convocation is a half-day. The rest of the visit is where families build memories.
- A celebration dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Old Town is about 25 km from campus. The winery restaurants along Niagara Stone Road and the inns on Queen Street are favourites; our Niagara-on-the-Lake inns page and the Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants guide list options. Book tables for graduation week early, because every Brock family has the same idea.
- The Falls. Niagara Falls is about 18 km from Brock. An evening visit works well because the Falls are illuminated every night, from about 8:30 p.m. in June, according to Niagara Parks. The Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake route page shows how to combine both in one evening along the Parkway.
- The Twenty Valley. Jordan Village and the Beamsville Bench wineries are west of campus, about 16 km away, and quieter on a weekday.
If the dinner includes wine, nobody in the family needs to drive back to the hotel, which is often the deciding reason families book a chauffeur for the evening.
Photos are the other part of the day families plan around. Campus fills with gowns after each ceremony, so many families take the formal pictures somewhere quieter later in the afternoon: the gardens along the Niagara Parkway, Queenston Heights above the river, or the brink of the Falls. The chauffeur drops the family at the nearest legal stopping point and waits while the photos are taken.
Price the celebration dinner ride
A sample graduation week
| Day | Plan | Vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Arrival evening | Pearson pickup, hotel in Niagara Falls | Standard SUV for 4 to 6 with luggage |
| Rest day | The Falls, Table Rock, Clifton Hill | Walk, or an hourly car for grandparents |
| Convocation day | Graduate drop at 8:30 a.m., guests at 9:30 a.m., lunch after | Executive Black SUV, by the hour |
| Evening | Celebration dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake | Same car, or a Sprinter for 12 relatives |
| Departure | Hotel to Pearson | Standard SUV |
Graduates moving out of residence the same week can add a trip with boxes, but the Executive Sprinter carries carry-on bags only, so choose an SUV (6 large bags) for luggage.

Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Driving yourself | 20 to 25 min from Niagara Falls | Free convocation parking in designated lots | Your car | Local families with a car |
| GO Transit train and bus | Toronto to St. Catharines by GO, then a local bus or taxi | Fares on the GO Transit site | Easy with light bags | Graduates' friends travelling alone |
| Rideshare | Fine for short trips around St. Catharines | Surge pricing on busy days | 3 to 4 per car | A guest leaving early |
| Taxi | Similar; rank queues after ceremonies | Metered | 4 per car | Short local hops |
| Pre-booked chauffeur | Door to door, waits through the ceremony | Fixed fare via booker | Up to 6 large bags (SUV) | Airport arrivals, grandparents, dinners with wine |
The verdict: a local family with a car should simply drive; the parking is free. A graduate's friend coming from Toronto alone does well on GO Transit, which runs trains to Niagara via St. Catharines. The chauffeur is worth it for families landing at Pearson or Buffalo with luggage, for grandparents who need a drop at the door, for days with a 7 a.m. start from Toronto, and for the celebration dinner. The chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide sets the options side by side.
Who this suits
Families with an international or out-of-province graduate are the main users; our families page explains child seats and luggage. Couples, the graduate's parents travelling alone, often want one sedan from the airport and back. Groups of relatives, twelve cousins for the dinner, share a Sprinter. Individuals, a graduate getting to campus early with gown bags, sometimes book a sedan alone. For other family milestones, see birthday limo ideas and retirement party transportation in Niagara.
Frequently asked questions
When is Brock University's spring convocation?

It depends on the pickup, the vehicle and whether the car waits through the ceremony. The online booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact trip and vehicle class before you pay.
Can you move a graduate's belongings out of residence?
Yes, within the vehicle's limits. A Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV carries up to 6 large bags; an Executive Sprinter takes carry-on bags only. List the boxes and suitcases in the booking notes, and book a separate ride from the convocation car if the move is large.
