The appeal of a small wedding is that everything fits: the guest list, the budget, the schedule and, as it turns out, the transport. Once the number of guests drops below about fifteen, a whole wedding day can be run from one vehicle that collects everyone, waits at the ceremony, follows the photographer and takes the party to dinner. A Niagara Falls micro wedding suits that model perfectly, because the Niagara Parks gardens, City Hall and most restaurants are all within a few kilometres of each other.

NiagaraFallsLimo.net books the car "By the hour" for days like this. This guide covers the one decision that shapes everything else, which vehicle, and then the venues and timing that make a one-car day work.

How do you plan transport for a micro wedding in Niagara Falls?

Pick one vehicle that seats everyone and book it by the hour. Most small venues, such as Dufferin Islands and the Floral Showhouse, are under 3 km (2 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, 5–8 minutes away. NiagaraFallsLimo.net shows the fixed fare for each vehicle and number of hours in its online booker before you pay.

One car, one driver, one timetable. The rest of this guide is about making that simple idea fit your guest count.

Step one: count heads, then choose the vehicle

People travellingVehicle (or similar)Notes
2Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach or Rolls-RoyceCouple only; Maybach and Rolls-Royce confirmed at booking
Up to 3Standard Sedan (Cadillac XTS)Couple plus one witness or photographer
Up to 6Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV6 bags; good with parents or a photographer
Up to 8Stretch LimousineMinimal luggage; the classic look
Up to 12Executive SprinterCarry-on only; easiest boarding for older guests
Up to 16Stretch SUV LimousineMinimal luggage; availability confirmed at booking

Two points that help when choosing. First, count the photographer, the officiant if they need a ride, and any child who needs a seat. Second, think about getting in and out. A Sprinter has standing headroom and a step, which grandparents often find easier than lowering themselves into a stretch limousine, and our stretch limo and Sprinter page compares the two in more detail.

Step two: choose a venue that fits the number

Niagara Parks offers several ceremony sites sized for small weddings. Capacities from its own pages:

  • Rambler's Rest: a 1907 stone pavilion overlooking the Niagara River, seasonal, for up to 10 guests.
  • Floral Showhouse: up to 20 guests, outdoors in the rose garden or indoors in the foyer, open year-round, about 2 km from the Fallsview hotels.
  • Butterfly Conservatory: indoors, year-round, up to 20 guests, on the Botanical Gardens grounds about 8 km north. Our Butterfly Conservatory page covers the attraction.
  • Dufferin Islands: up to 30 guests among small islands and footbridges, about 3 km from Fallsview.
  • City Hall Council Chambers: up to 30 guests for a civil ceremony, Monday to Friday, about 4 km from Fallsview.

Niagara Parks' ceremony packages page lists the sites and what the package includes, among them an officiant and two hours at the location. The City Hall civil ceremony page covers bookings there; note no ceremonies run from 14 September to 30 October 2026 because of the election. Outdoor sites are weather-dependent, and Niagara Parks says a backup plan is the couple's responsibility, so an indoor option like the Floral Showhouse or Butterfly Conservatory is worth considering from October to April.

Step three: the one-car day, hour by hour

Here is a typical plan for ten people with a Floral Showhouse ceremony and dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

  1. 2:00 p.m. Executive Sprinter collects the couple and guests from one Fallsview hotel lobby.
  2. 2:10 p.m. Arrive at the Floral Showhouse, about 2 km away. Ceremony at 2:30.
  3. 3:15 p.m. Short photo stop at Queen Victoria Park and the Oakes Garden Theatre, about 3 km north.
  4. 4:00 p.m. Continue north along the Niagara Parkway past the Botanical Gardens and the Floral Clock for a second photo stop.
  5. 5:00 p.m. Arrive in Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 15 km from the gardens, for an early dinner.
  6. 8:30 p.m. Return to the Fallsview hotel, about 23 km (15 mi), 30–40 minutes.

That is six and a half hours with one vehicle and no logistics for anyone except the chauffeur. Restaurants in both towns are covered in our Niagara Falls restaurants guide and the Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants guide.

Why "By the hour" beats separate trips for a small wedding

With point-to-point bookings, each leg has a set pickup time, which works for a large wedding with many vehicles. For a micro wedding, the hourly mode is simpler:

  • The car waits. No need to guess when the ceremony ends or how long photos take.
  • Changes are easy. A spontaneous stop at the Floral Clock or a detour for ice cream needs only a word to the driver.
  • Everyone stays together. Guests never have to work out where they are going next.

Our hourly chauffeur service explains how the hours are counted and what happens if the day runs long.

Keeping the guest list small without leaving anyone out

Micro weddings come with a delicate side: some family members will not be there. Many couples solve it with a second, informal gathering, a dinner the night before or a brunch the morning after for people outside the ceremony group. Transport for that is simple, a separate booking for the extra evening, and it lets the wedding day itself stay as small as you planned. If older relatives are coming only for dinner, book them a sedan or SUV from their hotel or home in the region, so the main vehicle is not doing extra pickups between the ceremony and photos.

When one car is not enough

The one-car model stops working in a few situations:

  • More than 16 travellers, or more than 12 if you want a Sprinter's easy boarding. Add a second vehicle.
  • Guests in different hotels, especially one in Niagara Falls and another in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Pickups across towns eat the afternoon.
  • Elders who want to go home early. A separate sedan or SUV booked for 8 p.m. lets them leave without ending everyone's evening.
  • Airport arrivals on the same day. Book those separately; our Pearson to Niagara Falls transfers page explains flight-tracked pickups.

Small details that matter more at a small wedding

With ten guests, everyone notices everything. A few things worth adding to the booking:

  • Child seats for nieces and nephews; they are booker options.
  • A wheelchair option if a guest needs it.
  • A sealed bottle as a gift to take away after dinner, if you want one. Nobody drinks in our vehicles: Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire By-law 2021-58 forbids a licensed driver from permitting it, and the chauffeur never drinks either.
  • Your timetable in the notes, so the driver knows the order of stops before arriving.

Verdict. For a 20-minute City Hall ceremony and a walk back to the hotel, a couple of taxis would do the job and we would not argue. Once a micro wedding has a ceremony, two photo stops and a dinner in another town, splitting ten people across three rideshares at every stop wastes the very time a small wedding is meant to give you. One vehicle keeps the group together.

Who it suits

Couples who want their closest people around them and nothing else are the reason micro weddings exist. Individuals flying in as the only family member attending can be collected from the airport and folded into the day. Families, from parents to small children, fit an SUV or Sprinter with seats arranged; our families page has more. Small groups of friends up to sixteen ride together in a Stretch SUV Limousine.

Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps

  1. Choose "By the hour". In the online booker, enter the hotel pickup, the start time and the number of hours, and list the ceremony, photo and dinner stops in the notes.
  2. Select the one vehicle that seats everyone. Each class shows its fixed fare for your hours before payment.
  3. Add guests and details. Names, child seats, a wheelchair option, any take-away gift, then pay securely. The confirmation arrives by email.

Couples planning something even smaller should read eloping at Niagara Falls with a chauffeur for the day; those choosing a chapel can compare options in Niagara Falls wedding chapels and photo stops.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a micro wedding at Niagara Falls?

There is no official definition, but most couples use the term for a ceremony with roughly 10–30 guests. At that size, Niagara Parks sites such as Dufferin Islands (up to 30), the Floral Showhouse (up to 20) and the Butterfly Conservatory (up to 20) fit well, as does City Hall for up to 30.

Can one vehicle carry the whole micro wedding?

Yes, up to 16 people in a Stretch SUV Limousine, 12 in an Executive Sprinter or 8 in a Stretch Limousine. For larger groups, add a second vehicle. The Sprinter carries only carry-on luggage, which is fine for a wedding day without suitcases.

Is there an indoor venue for a winter micro wedding?

Yes. Niagara Parks lists the Floral Showhouse and the Butterfly Conservatory as year-round ceremony sites, each for up to 20 guests. Both are a short drive from the Fallsview hotels, and the car can wait at the door in cold weather.

How many hours should we book the car for?

Count from the first pickup to the last drop-off. A ceremony, two photo stops and dinner in Niagara-on-the-Lake typically take six to seven hours. The booker shows the fixed fare for the hours you choose, and the reservations desk can extend on the day if the vehicle is free.

Can guests in different hotels share one car?

They can, but each extra pickup adds 10–20 minutes, more if the hotels are in different towns. Where possible, ask everyone to meet in one hotel lobby. If some guests are in Niagara-on-the-Lake and some in Niagara Falls, a second vehicle is often simpler.

Do we need a marriage licence for a micro wedding?

Yes. Any legal wedding in Ontario needs a valid Ontario marriage licence (or banns in limited circumstances) and an authorized officiant. In Niagara Falls, licences are issued at City Hall, 4310 Queen Street, by appointment on weekdays.

What is the cancellation policy?

Counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%. Some wedding dates may carry a different deadline, printed on your confirmation.

Can the photographer travel in the same vehicle?

Yes, if there is a seat. Count the photographer as a passenger when you choose the vehicle class, and add them in the booker. Riding together saves the photographer parking at every stop and keeps the day on time, which matters most when the car is booked by the hour.
