An anniversary in Niagara Falls used to mean a heart-shaped tub and a wax museum. The couples who come now usually want something else: a slow morning, good food, a few glasses of something local and one big view to finish. The region is built for that, if you split the weekend in two. Niagara-on-the-Lake handles the calm half, with its inns, spas and vineyards. The Falls, about 23 km (14 mi) south, handle the spectacle.
Here is a tested two-day plan, with distances, timings and the points where a chauffeur from NiagaraFallsLimo.net takes over the driving. It assumes you are coming from Toronto, but works just as well from Buffalo or Hamilton.
What is the best way to spend an anniversary in Niagara Falls?
For an anniversary in Niagara Falls, stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake for a spa and winery day, then spend the second evening at the Falls, about 23 km and 30 minutes south. NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives the whole weekend, from Toronto pickup to tasting rooms and dinner, at a fixed fare shown by the online booker.
The logic is simple. Wine country is quieter at night, and the Falls are best after dark, when the water is lit in colour. Staying in Old Town and visiting the Falls for one evening gives you both without a hotel change. If you prefer to wake up with a falls view, flip the plan: stay on Fallsview Boulevard and make the second day the wine country one.
Before you go: three bookings to make first
Spa slots, the best restaurant tables and theatre seats go first, so lock these in before the car.
- The spa. At the Pillar and Post, 48 John Street West, the 100 Fountain Spa covers 13,000 sq ft and has a secluded hot spring pool alongside massages, facials and body treatments, according to Vintage Hotels. In Niagara Falls itself, the Sterling Inn & Spa is a small boutique alternative, home to AG Inspired Cuisine.
- Lunch at a winery. Trius Winery Restaurant at 1249 Niagara Stone Road says it has been the town's only MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurant for three years. Two Sisters runs Kitchen76 at the winery, 240 John Street East. One timing note: The Winery Restaurant at Peller Estates is closed for renovation until November 13, 2026, and operating at the Riverbend Inn until then.
- An evening show, if it is the season. The Shaw Festival's 2026 holiday productions, A Year with Frog and Toad and Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, run from early November to December 23, per the Shaw Festival. Our Shaw Festival page covers drop-off at the theatres.
Then book the car around those fixed points.
Day one, afternoon: Toronto to the inn
1:00 pm. Pickup at home, your office or Toronto Pearson. Pearson to the Pillar and Post is about 119 km (74 mi), usually 1 h 40 – 1 h 50 off-peak; allow 2 h+ on a summer Friday. From downtown Toronto it is about 127 km and a similar time, along the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way), the main highway around the western end of Lake Ontario.
3:00 pm. Check-in. Drop the bags, walk Queen Street, look at the Old Town houses, and do nothing much. The car is released until the evening; there is no reason to pay for it to wait.
7:00 pm. Dinner within walking distance of the inn. Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake is compact; on the first night, you will not need the car at all. Our guide to Niagara-on-the-Lake restaurants has options for every budget.
Day two, morning: the spa
Book the treatment for 9:30 or 10:00, so you finish relaxed rather than rushed. Breakfast at the inn first. No driving, no taxi, no plan beyond the robe.
If you are staying at another inn, a short pickup to the spa can be booked as its own trip.
Check your fixed fare for the weekend
Day two, midday: three wineries and a long lunch
12:30 pm. Your chauffeur collects you at the inn. This is the first of the day's three movements, and the reason the car matters. The Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries are spread along John Street, Niagara Stone Road and the Niagara Parkway, close enough to visit three in an afternoon but too far apart to walk between them in tasting shoes.
A gentle loop, with drive times by road:
- Two Sisters Vineyards, John Street East: about 1.7 km (1 mi) from the Pillar and Post, four minutes. Lunch at Kitchen76.
- Peller Estates, 290 John Street East, next door. A tasting in the estate room.
- Trius Winery, Niagara Stone Road: about 4 km from Peller, eight minutes. The underground sparkling cellar makes a fitting anniversary stop.
The Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake sell a year-round Winemakers' Tasting Pass covering 20+ member wineries, and in November their Taste the Season weekends pair food and wine at eight of them. Several larger estates take tasting reservations through Andrew Peller's booking site.
Three wineries is enough. More than that, and the afternoon becomes an errand. Our page on the Niagara wine tour limo explains how the chauffeur paces stops, and the journal's designated-driver post is a frank look at why nobody should drive after tastings.
4:00 pm. Back to the inn. A sealed bottle you bought travels in the boot; nobody opens anything in the car. Rest.
Day two, evening: the Falls by night
6:30 pm. Pickup for the Falls. Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fallsview is about 23 km (14 mi), usually 30 minutes, south along the Niagara Parkway or the faster QEW; the Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake route page compares the two roads.
7:00 pm. Dinner with a view: the revolving dining room at the Skylon Tower, or Table Rock House Restaurant at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls.
After dinner. The illumination runs every night. In late October it starts at 6:00 pm, and from November 1 to the end of December at 4:30 pm, so by the time dessert arrives the Falls are already in colour. Walk the river at Queen Victoria Park; the car waits nearby. Our post on light show times lists the full schedule.
10:00 pm. Back to the inn, 30 minutes up the Parkway in the dark.
A gift that travels home: Icewine
If the anniversary needs a souvenir, Niagara's best-known one is Icewine. Under VQA Ontario's rules it is made from grapes left to freeze naturally on the vine and picked when the air is minus 8 °C or colder, which is why a small bottle takes several kilograms of fruit. Inniskillin, on the Niagara Parkway, received Ontario's first post-Prohibition winery licence in 1975 and is a natural place to buy one; our Icewine page lists other producers.
Couples flying home to the United States should know the allowance before buying a case. CBP lets returning US residents aged 21 or older include one litre of alcohol in their duty-free exemption after 48 hours or more abroad; anything above that is declared and may be dutiable. Ask the winery to pack bottles for the boot, and they travel sealed.
Day three: going home slowly
Late check-out, a walk to the lake, and a midday pickup back to Toronto or the airport. If your anniversary falls between November 14 and January 10, add a detour through the Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls on the final evening instead.
Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps
- Enter the trips. You can book the weekend as separate point-to-point rides (arrival, wine afternoon, Falls evening, departure) or use "By the hour" for the wine and Falls blocks. Add flight numbers for airport legs so arrivals are tracked.
- Choose a vehicle. A Standard Sedan or Mercedes-Benz E/S-Class suits two people and two bags; a Maybach or Rolls-Royce turns the Falls night into an occasion, with availability confirmed at booking. Each shows its fixed fare.
- Add notes and pay. Mention the anniversary, the restaurant reservations and any timing that cannot move, then pay securely. Confirmation arrives by email.
Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Option | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Bags and purchases | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO train plus taxi | Train to Niagara Falls station, then a car to the inn | GO fare plus metered taxi | Bags on the train | Couples without luggage, daytime |
| Rideshare | Fine in town, thin in wine country | Surge pricing at busy times | Standard car | Short hops in Old Town |
| Taxi | Reliable for one leg | Metered | Standard car | Dinner and back |
| Rental car | Flexible | Rental, fuel, parking | Your own car | Couples where one does not drink |
| Private chauffeur | Door to door all weekend | Fixed fare via booker | Bags, purchases in the boot | Anniversary weekends with tastings |
Verdict: if neither of you drinks wine and you like driving, a rental car is fine for this plan. If you are only moving within Old Town, walk. The chauffeur makes sense the moment there are tastings, because tasting and driving do not mix, and because rideshare cars can be few and far between out among the vineyards. The chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide compares costs in more detail.
Who it suits
Couples are the obvious fit, from a first anniversary to a fiftieth; see our page for couples. Individuals planning a surprise weekend can book everything and simply hand the itinerary over at the door. Families celebrating a parents' milestone can follow the same plan with an SUV for six. Groups of two or three couples sharing an anniversary trip travel well in an Executive SUV or Sprinter.

Frequently asked questions
Should we stay in Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake for an anniversary?
Niagara-on-the-Lake is quieter, with inns, spas and wineries a few minutes apart. Niagara Falls has falls-view rooms and the nightly illumination. For a two-night weekend, staying in Niagara-on-the-Lake and visiting the Falls for one evening, about 30 minutes away, gives you the best of both without changing hotels.
How far apart are the wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake?
Close. Two Sisters and Peller Estates sit side by side on John Street East, and Trius is about eight minutes from Peller by road. The Pillar and Post is about four minutes from Two Sisters. Three wineries and a lunch fit comfortably into an afternoon with a driver.
Can we drink wine in the limousine between wineries?
No. There is no drinking in our vehicles. Niagara Region's by-law forbids drivers of vehicles for hire to permit alcohol to be consumed, and Ontario's liquor law requires bottles in a car to be unopened. Bottles you buy ride sealed in the boot. That is part of why a wine tour with a driver works: nobody drives after tasting.
Which spas are good for an anniversary weekend?
The 100 Fountain Spa at the Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake covers 13,000 sq ft with a hot spring pool. In Niagara Falls, the Sterling Inn & Spa is a boutique option, and several Fallsview hotels have spas of their own. Book treatments before you book the car.
What is on at the Shaw Festival in November and December?
For 2026, the Shaw Festival runs two holiday productions, A Year with Frog and Toad and Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, from early November to December 23. The summer repertory closed in October. A chauffeur can drop you at the theatre door and collect you after the curtain.
How long is the drive from Toronto to Niagara-on-the-Lake?
About 120 to 127 km, depending on whether you start at Pearson or downtown, usually 1 h 40 – 1 h 50 off-peak via the QEW. Allow 2 hours or more on a summer Friday afternoon, when the highway around Hamilton and Burlington slows.
How much does an anniversary weekend chauffeur cost?
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for each trip or hourly block, for your exact addresses and vehicle, before you pay. You can price the weekend as separate rides or as hourly blocks and choose whichever suits your plan.
