Plenty of people in Niagara already own a car they like. What they lack is someone to drive it: an evening when nobody should be behind the wheel after a tasting menu, a parent who no longer drives at night, a collector who would rather sit in the back of a vintage Mercedes than wrestle it through Saturday traffic on Lundy's Lane. NiagaraFallsLimo.net supplies a chauffeur for your own car in Niagara: a professional driver who arrives on foot, takes your keys, drives your vehicle to the plan you set and hands the keys back at the end.
Can I hire a chauffeur to drive my own car in Niagara Falls?
Yes. NiagaraFallsLimo.net provides a chauffeur for your own car in Niagara Falls and across the Niagara Region at $95 an hour, with a 4-hour minimum, taxes and 20% gratuity included. Out of town the rate is $142.50 an hour. Your own insurance must cover a hired driver.
The service is called chauffeur only, because the chauffeur is the only thing we supply. You provide the vehicle, its fuel or charge, its registration and its insurance. We provide a trained, discreet professional who drives it the way a good chauffeur drives anything: smoothly, early, and without commentary.
How a chauffeur-only booking works
A typical first booking runs like this.
- We agree the plan. You tell us the date, the start time, where the car is parked and roughly where you want to go. A four-hour afternoon in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a hospital appointment and lunch in St. Catharines, a full day across the border.
- The chauffeur arrives at your car. They come to your home, hotel or office at the agreed time, introduce themselves and walk around the vehicle with you.
- They drive, wait and drive again. Between stops the chauffeur stays with the car unless you agree otherwise, so it is never left unattended outside a winery or a restaurant.
- The car comes home. At the end the chauffeur parks where you want it, returns the keys and notes the hours for the invoice.
Because no second vehicle is involved, there is no empty run to position a car and no kilometre charge from us. Your car, your kilometres.
Rates for a driver in your own car
All prices are in Canadian dollars and all-in, with taxes and 20% gratuity included.
| Item | Within the Niagara Region | Out of town |
|---|---|---|
| Chauffeur, per hour | $95 | $142.50 (the hourly rate +50%) |
| Minimum booking | 4 hours ($380) | set in your written agreement |
| Kilometres | no charge from us | no charge from us |
| Travel allowance | none | $100 flat |
| Chauffeur's hotel | none | added when an overnight is needed |
| Tolls and parking | at actual cost | at actual cost |
| Overtime | same hourly rate | same hourly rate |
"Within the Niagara Region" covers Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines, Welland, Fort Erie, Grimsby, Lincoln and the region's other towns. Days that take your car beyond it, to Toronto, Hamilton, Buffalo or New York State, or Ottawa, count as out of town. Your written agreement confirms which addresses fall on which side of the line.
Tolls deserve a note when you drive your own car. Electronic tolls such as the 407 ETR are billed to the licence plate or transponder on your vehicle, so they reach you through your own account rather than through us. Parking we pay on the day is passed on at cost.
For regular use, the monthly chauffeur service offers chauffeur-only blocks of 40 hours ($3,800), 80 hours ($7,600), 120 hours ($11,400) or 220 hours ($20,900) a month at the same hourly rate. The yearly chauffeur contract locks those figures for 12 months. To compare every option side by side, see what a chauffeur costs in Niagara Falls.
Your insurance comes first
This is the one part of the service that depends entirely on you. Your car insurance must cover a hired driver behind the wheel, and only your insurer can tell you whether your policy does.
We do not interpret insurance policies or insurance law, and we would not want you to rely on a chauffeur company for that. Before the first booking, please call your insurer or broker and ask, in plain words:
- Does my policy cover a professional driver I have hired to drive my car?
- Does anything change if the driver is paid by the hour, or if I am in the car or not?
- Is the cover the same if we cross into the United States, or drive outside Ontario?
- Do you need the driver's name or licence details in advance?
Get the answer in writing if you can, and tell us what your insurer requires. If a policy needs a named driver added, we can supply the chauffeur's details for that purpose. Ontario's regulator, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario, publishes consumer guidance on how auto insurance works, which is a good place to read up before you call.
If the answer is no, or the paperwork is more trouble than it is worth, simply book one of our cars instead. A short-term chauffeur hire in a business sedan from $155 an hour comes with our own commercial insurance and licensing.
Before the first drive: the handover
Every car is different, and a good chauffeur respects that. On the first booking the chauffeur takes a few minutes with you to cover:
- A walk-around. Any existing marks, wheel condition and tire pressures noted together, so there are no questions later.
- The controls. Seat and mirror memory, the parking brake, the drive selector, driver-assistance settings and how the navigation is set up.
- Fuel or charge. Where you prefer to fill up or charge, and whether the chauffeur should handle it during the day. Fuel and charging costs remain yours.
- The documents. The ownership and proof of insurance should be in the vehicle, as they would be for any drive.
- Your preferences. Climate settings, music or silence, whether you like the rear windows down on the Parkway, and where you want to sit.
On later bookings the same chauffeur, where possible, already knows all of this. If a backup chauffeur covers, they are briefed on your car and your notes beforehand.

Who books a personal driver for their car
Family offices and private households
Households with several drivers' worth of errands, and one car the principal prefers to use, often find a chauffeur-only block easier than employing a full-time driver. School runs, appointments, an evening at the theatre, a guest to collect from Toronto Pearson. An NDA is available, and chauffeurs keep household matters private as a matter of course. Larger households may also want our monthly chauffeur service.
Seniors and their families
Many older Niagara residents still have a comfortable, familiar car but no longer want to drive at night, in snow or on the QEW. A chauffeur in that car means no climbing into an unfamiliar vehicle, the same seat cushion and the same easy door. Adult children living elsewhere often arrange the bookings for a parent. For trips where a wheelchair or a specially equipped vehicle is needed, our accessible transportation page explains what we can arrange in our own fleet.
Collectors and enthusiasts
A classic or collectible car is meant to be enjoyed, but the owner does not always want to be the one shifting gears in a car show car park. A chauffeur can bring a vintage convertible to a wedding, a concours or a Sunday lunch while the owner rides in it. Tell us about the car in advance: transmission, quirks, starting procedure and anything the chauffeur must not do. We will tell you honestly if a particular vehicle is outside what we are comfortable driving.
Visitors with their own vehicle
Families who drive to Niagara from Ohio, Michigan or Quebec sometimes want a day off from driving once they arrive. A chauffeur can take the family car out for a day of sightseeing while the person who drove the whole way finally looks out of the window.
Wine-country days without drinking and driving
This is the most common reason people book a chauffeur for their own car. Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Twenty Valley and the Beamsville Bench put dozens of wineries within an easy drive, and a tasting at each soon adds up. Ontario takes impaired driving seriously, and the sensible plan is to make sure the person driving has had nothing at all.
With chauffeur-only service, that person is ours. The chauffeur never drinks. Our rule that nobody drinks in the vehicle goes with the chauffeur, whichever car they are driving: guests taste at the winery, and the car is for travelling between them. A typical afternoon fits comfortably inside the four-hour minimum: three wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a late lunch, and the drive home. Our Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries guide and the one-day wine tour itinerary help you plan the stops. Prefer not to use your car at all? The Niagara wine tour limo page covers our own vehicles.
Cross-border days in your own car
Driving your own car across the border with a hired chauffeur is entirely practical. A Buffalo Bills game, shopping in the Buffalo area or a dinner in Lewiston are ordinary chauffeur-only days. Keep three things in mind.
- Documents. Every passenger carries their own valid travel document, and so does the chauffeur. The car's ownership and insurance papers should be on board. Our guide to documents for entering the USA lists what border officers ask for.
- Your insurer. Ask whether your policy covers a hired driver in the United States as well as in Ontario. Do this before the day, not at the bridge.
- NEXUS. The Canada Border Services Agency says a vehicle may use a NEXUS lane only when every occupant is a member carrying their card, the driver included. Tell us in advance if NEXUS matters to your plan.
Buffalo and the rest of New York State are outside the Niagara Region, so the out-of-town rate and the $100 travel allowance apply. The Peace Bridge between Fort Erie and Buffalo is cashless, and the Peace Bridge site shows its current crossing information. Crossing times vary hour by hour, so we never quote one. The cross-border car service page has more on choosing a bridge.
Out-of-town trips in your own car
Longer trips follow the same rule as our own vehicles: the hourly rate rises by half, a $100 travel allowance is added, and the chauffeur's hotel is added when the trip needs an overnight.
As an illustration, a ten-hour day driving your car to Toronto and back would be ten hours at $142.50, which is $1,425, plus the $100 allowance, so $1,525 in total for the chauffeur, before any parking at cost. Toronto is about 130 km from Niagara Falls along the QEW, usually 1 h 20 to 1 h 40 off-peak, and the fuel and tolls are on your car. An overnight in Ottawa would add the chauffeur's hotel. The Niagara Falls to Ottawa and Montreal page describes that drive.
Chauffeur in your car, our car, or a staff driver?
| Option | What you pay | Vehicle | Insurance on the drive | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chauffeur in your own car | $95/h within the region, 4-hour minimum | yours, with your fuel and upkeep | your own policy, if it covers a hired driver | owners who love their car, seniors, collectors |
| Our car with our chauffeur | from $155/h, 150 km a day included | ours, four model years old or newer | our commercial insurance | visitors, business travel, groups |
| Monthly chauffeur-only block | from $3,800 for 40 hours | yours | your own policy | households with regular weekly needs |
| A full-time staff driver | salary, benefits, holiday cover | yours | your own policy | year-round, every-day driving |
The honest summary: if your insurer is comfortable and you like your car, chauffeur only is the most economical way to have a professional at the wheel. If you are visiting, if your policy will not stretch, or if you need room for six and their luggage, use one of our vehicles. A full-time staff driver only makes sense when the need is every day of the year, and even then holidays and sick days need cover. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide looks at the wider choices.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a driver for my own car cost in Niagara?
Within the Niagara Region a chauffeur for your own car is $95 an hour, with a 4-hour minimum, so the shortest booking is $380. Taxes and 20% gratuity are included. Out of town the rate is $142.50 an hour plus a $100 travel allowance and the chauffeur's hotel if an overnight is needed.
Does my car insurance cover a hired chauffeur?
Only your insurer can answer that, so please ask them before the first booking. Policies differ, and some insurers want a named driver added or other details. We are happy to supply the chauffeur's information if your insurer asks for it. If your policy does not cover a hired driver, book one of our insured vehicles instead.
Do you charge for kilometres when you drive my car?
No. In your own car there is no kilometre charge from us, because you run the vehicle and pay its fuel or charging. Tolls billed electronically, such as the 407 ETR, go to your car's plate or transponder account, and parking we pay on the day is passed on at actual cost.
Can the chauffeur drive my car across the border?
Yes. Cross-border days are normal. Each passenger and the chauffeur carry their own valid documents, and the car's ownership and insurance papers should be on board. Ask your insurer whether your policy covers a hired driver in the United States. Buffalo and New York State are out of town, so the out-of-town rate applies.
Can I drink wine on a winery day if you are driving my car?
Taste at the wineries, yes; in the car, no. The chauffeur never drinks, and our rule that nobody drinks in the vehicle applies whichever car we are driving. Having a chauffeur means the person at the wheel has had nothing at all, which is the point of the booking.
Will you drive a classic or manual-transmission car?
Often, yes. Tell us the make, model, year and transmission when you enquire, along with any quirks or starting procedure. We match the booking to a chauffeur comfortable with that kind of car, and we will tell you plainly if a particular vehicle is outside what we are willing to drive.
Is the 4-hour minimum the same for every booking?
The 4-hour minimum applies to chauffeur-only bookings within the Niagara Region. If the day runs longer, extra time is billed at the same $95 hourly rate. Out-of-town days and multi-day arrangements are set out in your written agreement, which confirms the hours, the addresses and the terms.
