Walk down Byron Street from Old Town and the shops give way to the river. Sailboats sit in the harbour, the far bank is New York State, and the lake opens out to the north. This is the riverfront side of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and its inns are where many weddings, anniversaries and long, slow weekends are based. Transport here has a slightly different shape from a Queen Street stay: the walk to the theatre is still easy, but weddings bring guests from several hotels at once, and the river invites day trips south along the Parkway. NiagaraFallsLimo.net plans these riverfront arrivals and wedding moves regularly; this is our working guide.

How do you get around from Queen's Landing and the riverfront inns?

Queen's Landing, at 155 Byron Street on the Niagara-on-the-Lake harbourfront, is about 121 km (75 mi) from Toronto Pearson and about 58 km (36 mi) from Buffalo Airport plus the border. Old Town is a short walk; NiagaraFallsLimo.net books airport transfers, wedding shuttles and river days online, with fixed fares shown before payment.

From Pearson the drive usually takes 1 h 35 – 1 h 55 off-peak and longer on summer Fridays. From Buffalo, allow about an hour on the road plus the inspection at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.

The riverfront inns

Queen's Landing. The largest of the waterfront hotels, run by Vintage Hotels. Its page lists 140 guest rooms, more than half with a jetted tub, a fireplace or both, many with river or harbour views; La Regina, an Italian restaurant, and the Bacchus Lounge; and on-site parking with valet service and EV charging (Queen's Landing). For events it lists 16 meeting venues and 21,829 square feet of space, with the Grand Georgian Ballroom seating up to 420 theatre-style.

Harbour House. A smaller hotel steps from the Niagara River, a short walk from Queen's Landing, with breakfast served in its Conservatory (Harbour House).

The Riverbend Inn & Vineyard. A Georgian mansion on 17 acres at 16104 Niagara River Parkway, about 2 km south of Queen's Landing, with 21 rooms and the Oaklands at Riverbend restaurant (Riverbend Inn). In autumn 2026 it is also hosting The Winery Restaurant at Peller Estates from October 13 to November 12 while Peller's own dining room is renovated.

Close by. Fort George National Historic Site is about 600 m from Queen's Landing, and the Oban Inn faces Lake Ontario across the golf course on Front Street; our post on the Oban Inn and 124 on Queen covers those two.

Our Niagara-on-the-Lake inns page gathers the arrival notes for all of them.

Arriving at the harbour: three directions

Up the QEW from Toronto. From Pearson, about 121 km. The last stretch runs through Virgil on Niagara Stone Road, into Old Town, and down toward the water; the river views appear only in the final minute. Our Toronto Pearson page explains both terminal pickups.

Across the river from New York. From Buffalo Airport, about 58 km. After the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, the drive north along the Niagara Parkway to the harbour is short and scenic, passing Queenston and the vineyards on the river side. The Canada-bound NEXUS lane there is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but only for vehicles in which every occupant is a member.

From the Falls. Guests who begin a trip in Fallsview and move to the riverfront for the wedding weekend have about 23–26 km to cover, roughly half an hour. Move the luggage in one ride on the morning of check-in, and the rest of the weekend can be on foot and by shuttle.

Conferences and offsites at Queen's Landing

With 16 meeting venues and a ballroom that seats several hundred, Queen's Landing hosts corporate events as well as weddings. For organisers, the transport pattern is predictable: staggered airport arrivals on day one, a group excursion to wineries or the Falls on day two, staggered departures on day three. We book each arrival against its flight number, so a delegate whose flight lands late is still met. Group excursions run in Executive Sprinters for up to 12 or in coaches on request, and a VIP guest can have a sedan of their own with a discreet chauffeur; NDAs are available on request.

Where cars stop on the riverfront

The harbourfront streets are narrow and residential, and on summer weekends they are busy with walkers heading to the water. A few habits make pickups smooth:

  • At Queen's Landing, the chauffeur uses the hotel's main entrance drive and the valet area for luggage; tell us if you are in one of the cottage rooms so we can plan the walk with bags.
  • At Harbour House, we stop briefly at the front for loading rather than blocking the street.
  • At the Riverbend Inn, the house is set back from the Parkway on its own grounds, which makes it a calm place to load a wedding party away from passing traffic.
  • For guests arriving by boat, give us the exact dock or club name in the booking notes. We meet you at the nearest point a vehicle can legally stop and walk down to help with bags.

Weddings: moving guests between inns, ceremony and reception

Riverfront weddings rarely happen in one building. A common pattern: the couple and wedding party at Queen's Landing, guests spread across Harbour House, the Prince of Wales and a few B&Bs, the ceremony at a winery or on the Riverbend lawn, the reception back in the Grand Georgian Ballroom. Every one of those moves needs a vehicle at a set time.

How we usually structure it:

  1. The couple's car. A Rolls-Royce, a Mercedes-Maybach or a Stretch Limousine for up to 8, with availability confirmed at booking.
  2. The wedding party. A Stretch SUV Limousine for up to 16, or an Executive Sprinter for up to 12.
  3. Guest loops. One or two Sprinters running a timed loop from each inn to the ceremony and back to the reception. Coaches are available on request for larger guest lists.
  4. The late return. Guests staying out of town, at Fallsview for example, about 23 km from the Riverbend, need their ride home booked before the evening starts.

No drinking on board, before or after the reception; Niagara Region's by-law forbids it. That rule surprises some wedding parties, so we mention it early. Our wedding limo page and event and wedding planners page explain how we coordinate with planners, and the journal post on a winery wedding guest shuttle plan has a timed example.

River days from the harbourfront

The Niagara River runs south from the harbour toward the Falls, and the Niagara Parkway follows it the whole way. From Queen's Landing:

  • Fort George, about 600 m, a walk. Our Fort George page and the post on Fort George and Old Town by private car cover it.
  • Inniskillin, at Line 3 and the Niagara Parkway, about 5.7 km, roughly 8 minutes.
  • Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours check in at 55 River Frontage Road in Queenston, about 11 km away, roughly 16 minutes. The company's locations page lists only Queenston and Lewiston, New York; there is no departure from Old Town, so you need a ride. See our post on jet boat days and getting back dry.
  • The Falls, about 23–26 km, roughly 30–35 minutes along the Parkway past the Floral Clock and Queenston Heights.

A half day "By the hour" can string these together, with the chauffeur waiting at each stop.

Our verdict: the riverfront is walkable, and for Old Town, the theatres and Fort George you should simply walk. A taxi is fine for a single daytime ride to the jet boats. Where a pre-booked chauffeur wins clearly is the airport transfer with luggage, every wedding move, and late evenings when guests are spread across several hotels or heading back to the Falls. The chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide has more scenarios.

Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps

  1. List the moves. In the booker, enter each ride: arrivals to Queen's Landing or the Riverbend, ceremony and reception legs, the late returns. Add flight numbers for airport rides.
  2. Match vehicles to people. Each class shows its fixed fare: a luxury sedan for the couple, a Stretch SUV Limousine for the party, Sprinters for guests.
  3. Confirm and pay. Add passenger counts, bags, child seats and timing notes. Pay securely and confirmations arrive by email.

Proms, long weekends and big weddings may carry a different cancellation deadline, printed on your confirmation; otherwise the standard terms apply from each scheduled pickup.

Book a riverfront transfer

Who this suits

Couples staying on the harbourfront for an anniversary book the airport legs and one river day. Groups attending a wedding are the riverfront's biggest users of coordinated transport. Families use an SUV with child seats for the jet boats and the Falls. Individuals on business at a Queen's Landing conference often fly into Buffalo and want the Lewiston crossing handled. For neighbouring stays, read the guide to Prince of Wales Hotel guests, and see our Buffalo airport page for the US-side arrival.

Frequently asked questions

Where is Queen's Landing in Niagara-on-the-Lake?

Queen's Landing is at 155 Byron Street on the harbourfront, where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario. It is a short walk from Old Town and the Shaw Festival Theatre, and about 900 m by road from the Prince of Wales Hotel.

Can wedding guests walk between the riverfront inns?

Between Queen's Landing, Harbour House and Old Town, yes; the distances are a few hundred metres. The Riverbend Inn is about 2 km south on the Niagara River Parkway, which is too far for guests in wedding shoes, especially after dark. Timed shuttles solve that.

How far is Queen's Landing from Buffalo Airport?

It is about 58 km (36 mi): close to an hour on the road, plus whatever the Lewiston-Queenston inspection takes. Every passenger needs valid documents, and the chauffeur crosses with you. Nobody can promise how long the inspection will take, so leave a margin before evening events.

Is there a jet boat from Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake?

No. Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours lists only two departure points: Queenston, at 55 River Frontage Road, and Lewiston, New York. From Queen's Landing the Queenston dock is about 11 km by road, roughly 16 minutes, so book a ride there and back.

What vehicle carries a whole wedding party?

A Stretch SUV Limousine seats up to 16, and an Executive Sprinter up to 12 with carry-on bags only. For larger guest lists we run several Sprinters on a timed loop, and coaches are available on request. The booker shows each vehicle's fixed fare.

Can we have champagne in the limo after the ceremony?

No. Under Niagara Region's licensing by-law a chauffeur may not allow anyone to drink in the car, and the province's liquor law makes no exception for limousines. Raise the glasses at the venue instead. A sealed bottle can be added in the booker as a gift to take away.

Can delegates at a Queen's Landing conference be met at different airports?

Yes. Each delegate's ride is booked against their own flight, whether at Toronto Pearson, Buffalo, Hamilton or Billy Bishop, and the flight is tracked so a late arrival is still met. Group excursions during the event can then be booked as Sprinters or coaches on one reservation.
