Families who base themselves in Niagara Falls for a week often reach day four and wonder about Toronto. The city is close, the CN Tower is on every child's list, and the waterfront is a pleasant change from the mist and neon. What puts people off is the logistics: a drive into a city they do not know, parking downtown, and a long drive back at night with tired children in the back seat.
This post is the reverse of the usual Toronto-to-Niagara day trip. It is how the NiagaraFallsLimo.net desk plans a return day from the Falls to the CN Tower and Harbourfront, with timings, drop-off points and the honest alternatives.
How far is the CN Tower from Niagara Falls?
The CN Tower at 290 Bremner Boulevard is about 128 km (79 mi) from the Fallsview area of Niagara Falls by the QEW and the Gardiner Expressway, usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 mid-morning; allow 2 h or more on weekday afternoons. NiagaraFallsLimo.net runs it as a return or by the hour; the booker fixes the fare first.
Harbourfront Centre, on Queens Quay West, is effectively the same distance — the two are a ten-minute walk apart. The slow direction is into Toronto on a weekday morning before about 9:30, or out of Toronto between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.; a mid-morning start and an early-evening return miss most of it.
A sample day, hour by hour
This is the plan we suggest to most families. It works from April to October and, with a few changes, in winter too.
- 9:30 a.m. Pickup at your Niagara hotel. Fallsview and Clifton Hill hotels are both on the QEW side of town, so the car is on the highway within ten minutes.
- 11:00 a.m. Drop-off on Bremner Boulevard, at the foot of the Tower.
- 11:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The CN Tower. Allow at least an hour and a half; longer on summer weekends.
- 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Lunch nearby, or snacks on the way to the aquarium.
- 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, next door to the Tower.
- 3:45 – 5:15 p.m. A short walk south to Queens Quay and Harbourfront Centre: the lake, the boats, the island ferries crossing to the Toronto Islands.
- 5:30 p.m. Pickup on Queens Quay or a nearby side street.
- 7:15 p.m. Back at the Falls, in time for dinner and the evening illumination.
The 5:30 departure is deliberate: by then the worst of the Gardiner is easing, and you reach the QEW as the rush thins. If the children are flagging earlier, the chauffeur can collect you sooner.

Drop-off at the CN Tower
The Tower's own getting-here page gives the address as 290 Bremner Boulevard, between Rogers Centre and Ripley's Aquarium, and says vehicles can stop on Bremner Boulevard just south of the Tower and east of Rogers Centre. That is where the car will drop you.
A few points that save time:
- Parking is paid and limited. The Tower lists the Metro Toronto Convention Centre's south lot and a lot on Navy Wharf Court. With a chauffeur, you skip both.
- Accessible arrival. Accessible parking is at Rogers Centre, with a small number of reserved spaces. If someone in your party uses a wheelchair, our booker has a wheelchair option, and the chauffeur can drop you at the most level entrance.
- The SkyWalk. If the day changes and part of your group wants to head home by train, the SkyWalk links the Tower area directly with Union Station.
Before you go: closures, tickets and EdgeWalk
The CN Tower posts closures on its website, and it pays to check the day before. This autumn, for example, it has announced adjusted hours for its Main Observation Level on October 27, November 3 and November 6, while the Lower Observation Level, the 360 Restaurant and The Top are not affected.
For older children and adults with a strong stomach, EdgeWalk is the Tower's hands-free walk around the outside of the pod. The EdgeWalk page puts it at 356 metres (1,168 feet), says the whole experience takes about 90 minutes with around 30 minutes on the ledge itself, and requires walkers aged 13 to 17 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who signs consent at check-in. It runs seasonally, so check that it is open on your date and book ahead; if anyone is doing it, add an extra hour to the plan above.
What fits next door
The appeal of this trip is that three good things sit within a few minutes' walk of the drop-off.
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada is at 288 Bremner Boulevard, right beside the Tower. Its official page carries the day's hours and tickets. It is the natural second stop with children and a good wet-weather plan.
Rogers Centre, home of the Blue Jays, is on the other side of the Tower. On game days the area is much busier — check the schedule before you pick a date, or lean into it with our post on combining a Blue Jays game with Niagara Falls.
Harbourfront Centre, at 235 Queens Quay West, is a lakeside arts and community centre, and many of its events are free. See the Harbourfront Centre site for what is on. A walk along Queens Quay toward the ferry docks rounds out the afternoon.
By the hour, or two drop-offs?
There are two ways to book the day, and the right one depends on how you like to travel.
Two transfers. A morning ride to Bremner Boulevard and an evening pickup on Queens Quay. The car leaves in between. This suits families who know their plan and want a simple, fixed shape.
By the hour. The chauffeur stays with you all day. That is useful if you want to add a stop the walking plan cannot — Casa Loma, the Distillery District, a specific restaurant — or if grandparents need the car close by. Our hourly chauffeur page explains how "By the hour" bookings work, and a private chauffeur can be booked for any length of day.
Either way, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is just along the waterfront from Harbourfront. If one of your party is flying out that evening, the car can drop them there on the way home; our Billy Bishop transfer page explains how that airport works.
Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps
- Enter the day. Your Niagara hotel as pickup, 290 Bremner Boulevard as the drop-off, and the date. Choose a return trip with a pickup on Queens Quay, or select "By the hour" for the whole day.
- Choose the vehicle. A Standard SUV takes up to six with room for strollers; a sedan suits two or three. Each class shows a fixed fare before you pay.
- Add the family details. Child, toddler or booster seats, a wheelchair if needed, any extra stops in the notes. Pay securely and watch for the email confirmation.

Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Option | Door to door | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GO train to Union | About 2 h each way with walks | Fixed public fare; a GO+WEGO combo is sold | Strollers fine, car seats not needed | Couples and families comfortable on trains |
| Intercity bus | 1 h 30 – 2 h plus city transit | Fixed public fare | Hold luggage | Individuals and students |
| Rideshare from the Falls | 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 if a driver accepts | Surge pricing; return trip uncertain | Small trunk | Short rides inside Toronto |
| Taxi | 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 | Metered both ways | Trunk | Rarely chosen this far |
| Driving yourself | 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 plus parking | Fuel and downtown parking | Your trunk | Confident city drivers |
| Private chauffeur | 1 h 30 – 1 h 45, door to door | Fixed fare via booker | SUV with fitted seats | Families with young children, grandparents, mixed plans |
Verdict. If you are two adults happy on public transport, the GO train is a sensible way to do this day — Niagara Falls to Union, a short walk to the Tower, and back. GO advertises Niagara service seven days a week; check the return times, which are less frequent on some days. Rideshare is fine for hopping around downtown, but an out-of-town return to Niagara at rush hour is a lottery. A chauffeur wins when you have young children and car seats, when grandparents tire easily, or when you want the day to start and end at your hotel door. Our chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide goes further.
Who it suits
Families are the main audience: fitted seats, room for a stroller, and a car that leaves when the children are done, not when a timetable says. Our families page covers more family trips. Couples often add dinner in Toronto and come back to the Falls late, booking the day by the hour. Groups of friends or a school class can share a Sprinter for up to twelve. Individuals usually do best on the GO train — and that is fine.
Making it part of a longer stay
If you are building a week around Niagara, this day slots well between two Falls days. Our two days in Niagara Falls without a rental car plan pairs naturally with it, and for the opposite direction, see Niagara Falls in one day from Toronto. The road itself is explained on our Toronto to Niagara Falls route page, and your hotel's drop-off on the Fallsview hotels page.
Frequently asked questions
Can you do the CN Tower as a day trip from Niagara Falls?
Yes, comfortably. The Tower is about 128 km from Fallsview, roughly 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 each way off-peak. Leave the Falls around 9:30, spend the middle of the day at the Tower, the aquarium and Harbourfront, and head back around 5:30 to be at the Falls for dinner.
Where does the car drop you off at the CN Tower?
On Bremner Boulevard, just south of the Tower and east of Rogers Centre, at 290 Bremner Boulevard. The Tower recommends that address for taxis, limousines and rideshare. For the return, the chauffeur can meet you there or on Queens Quay near Harbourfront Centre.
Is Ripley's Aquarium next to the CN Tower?
Yes. Ripley's Aquarium of Canada is at 288 Bremner Boulevard, beside the Tower. Many families pair the two, Tower first while the children have the most energy, aquarium second. Check the aquarium's official page for that day's hours.
Is the CN Tower open every day?
It publishes closures and adjusted hours on its website. This autumn its Main Observation Level has adjusted hours on October 27, November 3 and November 6, with other levels unaffected. Check the Tower's site the day before you travel.
How long should we allow for the CN Tower itself?
An hour and a half is a reasonable minimum for the observation levels, more on busy summer weekends. EdgeWalk takes about 90 minutes on its own, including around 30 minutes outside, so add time if anyone has booked it.
Can we keep the car with us all day in Toronto?
Yes. Book "By the hour" and the chauffeur stays with you, which makes it easy to add stops or leave early. Alternatively, book a morning drop-off and an evening pickup as a return trip. The booker shows the fixed fare for either before you pay.
What if the weather is poor on the day?
Low cloud can hide the view from the top, so check the forecast the evening before and keep the date flexible if you can; changes made more than 72 hours ahead cost nothing. On a wet day the plan still works indoors — the Tower's lower levels and the aquarium next door — and the car takes you door to door without a long walk in the rain.
