Lundy's Lane is the long road of motels, family restaurants and independent hotels that runs west from the tourist core toward the Queen Elizabeth Way. Families and road-trippers book there because the rooms usually cost less than a tower on Fallsview Boulevard, and because there is often free parking right outside the door. The catch arrives around 7 p.m., when everyone wants to see the Falls lit up and the car has to go somewhere near the river. NiagaraFallsLimo.net runs those evening trips constantly, and the pattern below is what we suggest to guests staying on the Lane.
Is a Lundy's Lane hotel too far from the Falls?
No, but it is too far to walk comfortably. Lundy's Lane hotels are about 4–9 km from Table Rock Centre, usually 8–15 minutes by car. NiagaraFallsLimo.net books a drop-off and timed pickup, or a "By the hour" evening, online with a fixed fare shown before payment, so nobody hunts for parking by the river.
The distance depends on which block you are on. From the Canada One Outlets area at 7500 Lundy's Lane, Clifton Hill is about 3.8 km by road, roughly 7 minutes, and Table Rock about 6.4 km, roughly 12 minutes. The western stretch near the QEW interchange adds a few more kilometres; allow about 15 minutes to the Falls from there in normal evening traffic.
The real cost of driving down each night
Many Lane hotels include parking. The Falls do not. Niagara Parks runs most of the lots along the river, and its parking page lists them clearly. As of 2026:
| Niagara Parks lot | Address | Price as listed (2026) | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Falls Parking (Lot A) | 6635 Niagara Parkway | Variable | Gated, beside the Power Station, year-round |
| Queen Victoria Place | 6349 Niagara Parkway | Variable | Pay and display, year-round |
| Rapidsview (Lot C) | 4555 Upper Rapids Road | $10 for the day | Seasonal, closes for winter; WEGO to Table Rock |
| Dufferin Islands | 6345 Dufferin Isle Road | $8 per hour | Year-round |
| Rainbow Bridge lot | 4348 Hiram Street | $12 per hour | Near Clifton Hill |
Two details catch people out. First, "variable" at the main Falls lot means the price moves with demand, and summer evenings are when demand peaks. Second, Niagara Parks states that overnight parking is not available at any of its lots, so a car left after a late dinner is a problem.
Add the time spent circling for a space on a fireworks night, and the driver who cannot have a glass of wine with dinner, and the "free parking" at the hotel starts to look less decisive. Our journal post on hotel parking fees versus a chauffeur works through the sums in more detail.
The bus, honestly
There is a public option, and for some travellers it is the right one. Since September 2024 the former WEGO Red Line has been Niagara Region Transit route 116/216, running along the Lundy's Lane corridor about every half hour. Route 116 is the weekday service and 216 runs evenings and weekends.
Know three things before relying on it:
- It does not run directly to Clifton Hill. Riders transfer at the Main and Ferry hub to route 104 up Victoria Avenue.
- It takes Niagara Region Transit fares. WEGO passes, which cover the Niagara Parks Blue Line along the river, are not valid on 116/216.
- There is a connection to the WEGO Blue Line at 6054 Stanley Avenue for the Fallsview area.
For a fit adult couple with no fixed dinner time, this works well and costs little. For a family with a stroller, a grandparent who walks slowly, or anyone heading home after the 10 p.m. fireworks, two buses and a transfer in each direction is a long evening. Our post on where WEGO goes and where it does not maps the visitor routes.
A nightly pattern that works
Guests on the Lane usually settle on one of two shapes.
Two one-way rides. A drop-off at Table Rock or the bottom of Clifton Hill around sunset, and a pickup booked for a set time. This suits evenings when you know the plan: dinner, a walk along the railing, the illumination, back by 10:30.
"By the hour". The car stays with you. Dinner at Fallsview, a stop at Queen Victoria Park for the lights, a slow drive along the Niagara Parkway, an ice cream on Clifton Hill, then home. This suits groups, special nights and anyone who does not want to watch the clock. Our hourly chauffeur page explains how the time is counted.
Either way, the chauffeur sets you down where cars may stop, not on the Parkway shoulder, and knows which side of Clifton Hill is quieter for a pickup when the street is full.

Fireworks, illumination and the Festival of Lights
The best evenings to avoid driving are the busiest ones.
- Illumination. Niagara Parks lights the Falls every night of the year, starting as early as 4:30 p.m. in November and December and as late as 8:30 p.m. from mid-May to the end of July.
- Fireworks. In 2026 the Falls fireworks ran nightly at 10 p.m. from May 15 to October 12. They usually return each spring; check our illumination and fireworks page for the next season once Niagara Parks publishes it. Our post on fireworks nights and getting there and back has timing tips.
- Winter Festival of Lights. From November 14, 2026 to January 10, 2027, the Winter Festival of Lights runs nightly from 5 p.m. to midnight across more than 8 km of the Parkway, Fallsview and Lundy's Lane itself. Lane guests can see part of it from the hotel door; the riverside displays need a ride. See our Winter Festival of Lights page.
Daytime trips from the Lane
The car is not only for evenings. From a Lundy's Lane base, these are the rides guests book most:
- Canada One Outlets at 7500 Lundy's Lane, which Canada One lists with events into late 2026, is often walkable or a very short hop.
- Toronto Pearson is about 119 km (74 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 50 off-peak, with the QEW on-ramp close by. The Pearson airport page explains the terminals.
- Niagara-on-the-Lake wineries are about 20–25 km away, usually 25–35 minutes.
- The Niagara Falls History Museum is a short drive; our post on the museum near Lundy's Lane has visiting details.
Staying on the Lane with no car at all
Some guests arrive by train or plane and never touch a steering wheel. That works well from Lundy's Lane if you plan the two long legs and keep the short ones flexible.
- Arrival. Book the airport or station transfer straight to the hotel door. From the Niagara Falls VIA and GO station on Bridge Street, most Lane hotels are a short drive across town; from Pearson, see above.
- Evenings. Use the pattern above, or the bus on nights when you have time to spare.
- One day out. Wine country, the Niagara Parkway or a crossing to the American side is easier with a car for the day than with a string of taxis.
- Departure. Book the return ride when you book the arrival. Early flights from Pearson mean leaving the Lane before the morning traffic builds on the QEW, and a pickup arranged days ahead is one less thing to organise on the last night.
Motels on the Lane are often low-rise with doors facing the car park, which makes pickups simple: the chauffeur pulls up outside your unit and loads the bags there.
Rainy nights and winter evenings
Rain changes the calculation more than distance does. A 4 km walk is pleasant in July sunshine and miserable in a November drizzle, and the Falls themselves throw spray across the Table Rock railing in any weather. In winter, the illumination starts early, the sidewalks can be icy and the Festival of Lights draws evening traffic onto the same streets you want to use. On those nights a car that waits outside the restaurant door is less a luxury than common sense, especially with children or older relatives.
Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Option | Time to Table Rock | Cost note | Return after 10 p.m. | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private chauffeur | About 8–15 min | Fixed fare via booker | Pickup booked in advance | Families, groups, fireworks nights |
| Rideshare | About 8–15 min plus wait | App pricing, surge after fireworks | Possible, but demand spikes | Couples on a quiet weeknight |
| Taxi | About 8–15 min plus wait | Metered | Queue at busy times | One-way trips |
| Bus 116/216 plus transfer | Often 40 min or more | Niagara Region Transit fare | Check last trips | Budget travellers with time |
| Drive and park | About 8–15 min plus parking | Variable lot prices, no overnight parking | You drive, no wine | Drivers who do not drink |
Our verdict: on a quiet Tuesday in March, a taxi or rideshare from the Lane to Clifton Hill is quick and fine, and we would say so. The pre-booked car earns its place on the nights that matter: fireworks, the Festival of Lights, a birthday dinner, a family of six, or any evening that ends at the same moment as everyone else's. Our taxi alternative page and the chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare guide explain the trade-offs.

Reserve tonight's ride to the Falls
Who this suits
Families on the Lane gain the most: no car seats to move, no parking hunt, and a ride home when the children fade. Groups sharing two or three rooms fill a Sprinter for the evening and arrive together. Couples use it on the night they want wine with dinner at Fallsview. Individuals on a budget will often be well served by the bus, and should book us for the airport leg instead. More family ideas are on our Clifton Hill and Lundy's Lane hotels page.
Frequently asked questions
Can you walk from Lundy's Lane to Niagara Falls?
You can, but it is a long walk: about 4 km from the eastern hotels and more from the western end, much of it along busy roads, then downhill to the river. Most visitors find it tiring with children or after dark, and the uphill walk back at night is harder still.
How much is parking near the Falls in Niagara Falls, Ontario?
As of 2026, Niagara Parks lists variable pricing at its main Falls lot on the Niagara Parkway, $10 for the day at the seasonal Rapidsview lot, and $8 to $12 per hour at several smaller lots. Overnight parking is not available at any Niagara Parks lot.
Is there a bus from Lundy's Lane to the Falls?
Yes. Niagara Region Transit route 116 (weekdays) and 216 (evenings and weekends) run along Lundy's Lane about every half hour. Clifton Hill needs a transfer to route 104 at the Main and Ferry hub, and WEGO passes are not valid on these routes.
Are there Ubers around Niagara Falls?
Rideshare apps operate in Niagara Falls, and on a quiet evening a car usually arrives quickly. Demand rises sharply when the fireworks end and on holiday weekends, so waits and surge pricing are common then. A pre-booked pickup removes that uncertainty for the ride home.
What time should we leave a Lundy's Lane hotel for the 10 p.m. fireworks?
Leave around 9:15 to 9:30 p.m. on a summer weekend. The drive is only 8–15 minutes, but the streets near Queen Victoria Park fill quickly. Book the return pickup for about half an hour after the show ends, when the first crowd has cleared.
Can a chauffeur wait while we have dinner at Fallsview?
Yes. Choose "By the hour" in the booker and the car stays with you through dinner, the illumination and any stops afterwards. Alternatively, book two one-way rides with a set pickup time. The booker shows the fixed fare for either option before you pay.
