There is a particular kind of local frustration in Grimsby and Stoney Creek. The vineyards of the Beamsville Bench are close enough to see from the escarpment, the Falls are a short run down the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), and still the plan collapses on one question: who is driving home? NiagaraFallsLimo.net gets this booking all the time from people who live between Stoney Creek and Lincoln. It is not a big tour. It is a short-hop afternoon: a car at your door, two or three tasting rooms, dinner at the Falls, and home before the late news.

How long is the drive from Grimsby to Niagara Falls?

Downtown Grimsby to Niagara Falls, Ontario is about 46 km (28 mi), usually 35–45 minutes on the QEW; Stoney Creek is about 64 km (40 mi), around 50 minutes. Beamsville Bench wineries are 15–30 minutes from either. NiagaraFallsLimo.net books this as an hourly chauffeur, with a fixed fare in its booker.

Road-routing data puts Grimsby's library on Carnegie Lane 13.5 km from Malivoire in Beamsville, about 16 minutes, and 21 km from Jordan village, about 20 minutes. From Malivoire to the Fallsview district is about 39 km, 35–40 minutes. Those short distances are why a whole afternoon fits comfortably into a few hours of chauffeur time.

The short-hop booking, and why locals use it

Most wine-tour advice is written for visitors coming from Toronto, with a long drive at each end. Your situation is different. You need the car for the hours you are actually out, not for a day on the highway. Two ways to book it:

  1. By the hour. Choose "By the hour" in the booker, set the start time at your door and an estimated finish, and add the wineries and restaurant as stops. The chauffeur stays with you throughout. This suits afternoons with three or four stops.
  2. Point to point with a return. If you only want to go to one winery and on to dinner, book the outbound multi-stop trip and a separate return from the restaurant at a set time.

Either way, the booker shows a fixed fare before you pay. Our hourly chauffeur page explains how waiting time and stops work.

Price a short-hop wine afternoon

A Bench afternoon, then dinner at the Falls

Here is a realistic shape for a Saturday in autumn, starting in Grimsby. From Stoney Creek, add about 15 minutes at the start and end.

  • 1:00 p.m. pickup at home.
  • 1:20 p.m. first tasting on the Beamsville Bench. King Street East in Beamsville has several estates within a few minutes of each other.
  • 2:30 p.m. second tasting, a short hop along the Bench or down to Jordan.
  • 3:45 p.m. a third stop, or a walk in Jordan village. Cave Spring's cellars and tasting room are on Main Street in Jordan.
  • 4:45 p.m. drive to Niagara Falls, about 35–40 minutes along the QEW and Highway 420.
  • 5:30 p.m. time at the Falls before dinner. In November and December the Falls are lit from about 4:30 p.m., so you see the illumination early.
  • 6:30 p.m. dinner. Fallsview Casino Resort alone has more than 20 dining options, and our Niagara Falls restaurants guide lists more with drop-off notes.
  • 9:00 p.m. home, back in Grimsby around 9:45 p.m.

Swap the order if you prefer the Falls first and wine country for a late lunch. For a full-day version, the one-day wine tour itinerary and our post on a quieter tasting day on the Beamsville Bench give more structure.

The wineries closest to Grimsby and Stoney Creek

The Beamsville Bench is one of ten sub-appellations of the Niagara Peninsula, according to VQA Ontario, alongside the Twenty Mile Bench, Vinemount Ridge, Creek Shores and Lincoln Lakeshore nearby. Some of the estates nearest to you, with addresses from their official sites:

  • Malivoire, 4260 King Street East, Beamsville, known for Gamay and Beamsville Bench wines. malivoire.com
  • Hidden Bench Estate Winery, 4152 Locust Lane, Beamsville, farming organic estate vineyards in the Beamsville Bench sub-appellation. hiddenbench.com
  • Kew Vineyards, 4696 King Street, Beamsville, with organic estate vineyards on the Bench.
  • Rosewood Wines, 4352 Mountainview Road, Lincoln.
  • Cave Spring, cellars and tasting room at 3836 Main Street, Jordan.
  • Flat Rock Cellars, 2727 7th Avenue, Jordan.
  • Vineland Estates Winery, 3620 Moyer Road, Vineland, and Tawse Estate Winery, 3955 Cherry Avenue, Vineland.

Tasting formats and reservation rules differ between estates and change with the season, so check each winery's website before you set the order. Our Twenty Valley and Beamsville Bench page and the post on the Twenty Mile Bench and Jordan go deeper. We do not have partnerships with any winery; you choose where to go.

Starting from Stoney Creek instead

Stoney Creek sits at the western end of this stretch, so the order of the day matters a little more. From the Centennial Parkway area it is about 32 km to Malivoire, roughly 30 minutes, and about 64 km to the Falls. Two sensible patterns:

  • West to east. Wineries first, working along the Bench toward Jordan, then the Falls for dinner, then straight home on the QEW. Nothing is driven twice.
  • Falls first. An early visit to Table Rock while it is quiet, a late lunch at a winery restaurant on the way back, and home by early evening. Good in summer, when the Falls district is busiest after dark.

If friends are coming in by train, Confederation GO in Stoney Creek is a convenient place to collect them; add it as the first stop in the booker.

Why you still want a driver for a 15-minute hop

It is tempting to think a short distance means it is fine to drive. It is not, and the reason is the tasting, not the kilometres. Three tastings across an afternoon add up, and the roads between the estates are rural, dark early in autumn and shared with farm traffic.

The chauffeur never drinks. Passengers do not drink in the car either: Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids a licensed driver from permitting alcohol consumption in the vehicle, and Ontario's liquor law has no limousine exception. Bottles you buy go into the boot sealed, and you open them at home. If you want to send a gift, the booker can add a sealed bottle to take away.

Timing around harvest and the holidays

  • September and October are harvest months and the busiest on the Bench. Book a few days ahead for Saturdays.
  • November and December bring the free Winter Festival of Lights at the Falls, from 14 November 2026 to 10 January 2027, and fireworks at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from November 14, then nightly from December 18 to January 2. A late-afternoon tasting, then the lights, is a good combination.
  • January is icewine season across Niagara. Check Wine Country Ontario for events as they are announced.
  • Weekday afternoons are quiet all year and the easiest time to get unhurried tastings.

Verdict. If you are only going to the Falls for a walk and dinner with no wine, drive yourself or take a rideshare; it is a short trip and you do not need us. For a tasting afternoon, rideshares are the weak link, because you are requesting a new car at every rural stop. A chauffeur by the hour is the simple answer. Grimsby's own GO station is now under construction off Livingston Avenue, according to the Metrolinx Grimsby GO page, which will help for Falls trips once it opens but will not reach the wineries. Our Niagara wine tour limo page explains longer tours.

Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps

  1. Plan the stops. Enter your Grimsby or Stoney Creek address, then each winery and the restaurant as stops, with a start time. Choose "By the hour" for a multi-stop afternoon.
  2. Pick the car. For two, the Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class; for up to six, a Standard or Executive Black SUV; for a bigger group of friends, the Executive Sprinter. Each shows its fixed fare.
  3. Finish the booking. Add passengers and any notes, such as a birthday, and pay securely. Your confirmation arrives by email.

Who this suits

Couples are the classic short-hop booking: an afternoon on the Bench and dinner with a view, no designated driver. Groups of friends, four to twelve, book an SUV or Sprinter for a birthday tasting day. Individuals use the same idea for a business lunch at a winery restaurant. Families hosting visitors from abroad book it to show off the region without anyone missing the wine. Visitors staying with you can arrive by train; see our post on Hamilton to Niagara without the GO bus transfer and the couples page.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Grimsby from Niagara Falls?

Downtown Grimsby is about 46 km (28 mi) from the Fallsview area, usually 35–45 minutes on the QEW. The Casablanca Boulevard area is a few kilometres further west. Summer Saturdays and holiday weekends can add 15 minutes or more around St. Catharines.

How close are the Beamsville Bench wineries to Grimsby?

Very close. Malivoire on King Street East in Beamsville is about 13.5 km from downtown Grimsby, roughly 16 minutes, and Jordan village is about 21 km away. From Stoney Creek, add about 15 minutes.

Can I book a driver for just a few hours?

Yes. Choose "By the hour" in the booker, enter your start time, stops and estimated finish, and the chauffeur stays with you throughout. The booker shows the fixed fare before you pay, so you know the cost of a short afternoon in advance.

Can we drink wine in the car between wineries?

No. Drinking is not permitted in our vehicles, under Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law and Ontario's liquor law. Bottles you buy travel sealed in the boot. The chauffeur never drinks, which is why you can enjoy every tasting.

Do you have deals with particular wineries?

No. We have no partnerships with wineries, hotels or restaurants. You choose the estates you want to visit and tell us the order; your chauffeur drives the route. Check each winery's website for tasting formats and reservations.

Is there a GO train from Grimsby?

Not yet. A Grimsby GO station is under construction on Livingston Avenue, west of Casablanca Boulevard. Today, the GO route 12 bus stops at the Casablanca Boulevard park-and-ride, and VIA Rail and Amtrak's Maple Leaf stop at Grimsby.

What if our plans change on the day?

Tell the chauffeur and the reservations desk; stops can often be reordered within the time you booked. For cancellations, more than 72 hours' notice is free, 72 hours or less is 10%, 48 hours or less is 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show is 100%.
