Niagara Falls International Airport sits at 2035 Niagara Falls Boulevard, a few minutes east of downtown Niagara Falls, New York. It is a quiet terminal, opened in 2009, with a long runway and a short list of flights. For the people on those flights, though, it is the most convenient arrival in the region: no Toronto traffic, no Buffalo sprawl, and the Canadian Falls about a quarter of an hour away by road.

The catch is the bridge. This guide covers who flies into IAG, how to get from the curb to an Ontario hotel, and what each passenger should have ready before the car reaches the booth.

How do you get from Niagara Falls International Airport to the Canadian side?

From Niagara Falls International Airport (IAG), the Fallsview hotels in Niagara Falls, Ontario, are about 14 km (9 mi) away, usually 20–25 minutes plus the queue at the Rainbow Bridge. Rideshare cannot cross the border, so book a cross-border car: NiagaraFallsLimo.net tracks your flight and shows the fixed fare in its online booker.

The airport says so itself. Its ground transportation page tells travellers that "Rideshare services are not allowed to cross the border." An app may still offer you a ride, but you risk being dropped on the US side of the river with your luggage. A pre-booked cross-border chauffeur removes that uncertainty. See our Niagara Falls International airport transfer page for the standard service details, and the sibling post on whether you can Uber across the Niagara border for the wider rules.

Who flies into IAG

In 2026 the airport's Where We Fly page lists a single airline, Allegiant Air, with service to four destinations:

  • Fort Myers / Punta Gorda, Florida
  • Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
  • Orlando / Sanford, Florida
  • Tampa / St. Petersburg, Florida

That shapes who is in the arrivals hall. Most passengers fall into three groups: Western New Yorkers coming home from the sun, Florida and Carolina residents visiting Niagara, and Canadians. The airport markets itself directly to Ontario travellers as being "mere miles" from the border and the QEW, which makes it a practical departure point for residents of the Niagara Region heading south for the winter.

Check Allegiant for the schedule on your date, and give us the flight number in the booking so the pickup follows the real arrival time.

The drive, bridge by bridge

From the terminal, two bridges make sense. Your chauffeur picks between them based on where you are staying and what the live wait-time feeds show at that moment.

DestinationUsual bridgeDistance from IAGTypical drive (no queue)
Fallsview and Clifton Hill hotelsRainbow Bridgeabout 14 km (9 mi)about 20 – 25 min
Niagara-on-the-Lake innsLewiston-Queenston Bridgeabout 25 km (16 mi)about 35 min
St. Catharines or HamiltonLewiston-Queenston Bridgelonger; QEW westvaries

The Rainbow Bridge lands you at the foot of Clifton Hill, a few minutes from every Fallsview hotel. It takes cars, buses and limousines and runs around the clock. The Lewiston-Queenston Bridge is the better line for Niagara-on-the-Lake, landing at Queenston and running up the Niagara Parkway past the wineries; our guide to Niagara-on-the-Lake inns lists where you might be heading. The Whirlpool Rapids Bridge is NEXUS-only and usable in a hired car only if every occupant holds a card.

The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission operates all three of those crossings and collects tolls only in the Canada-bound direction.

Book your IAG pickup

At the curb: how the pickup works

IAG is small enough that pickups are simple. After you collect your bags, your chauffeur meets you at the arrivals area or, if you added meet and greet in the booker, inside the terminal with a name board. Flight tracking means a late Allegiant arrival moves the pickup time with it.

A few habits that help:

  • Keep your phone on after landing. The chauffeur will message when you are on the ground.
  • Have documents out before you reach the car. The bridge is only a few minutes away.
  • Say if you have extra luggage. Golf bags and long-stay suitcases are common on Florida flights. A Standard SUV (Suburban or Yukon XL) or Executive Black SUV takes up to six passengers and six bags; a Standard Sedan takes up to three passengers and two large bags.

Landing late at night

IAG runs 24 hours with no curfew, and evening arrivals from Florida are common. The border is open late too: CBP's wait-time data lists the Rainbow and Lewiston-Queenston bridges as open 24 hours a day, while the NEXUS-only Whirlpool Rapids Bridge runs from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The Lewiston-Queenston Bridge's dedicated NEXUS lane into Canada operates from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., so after dark everyone uses the general lanes.

The difficulty with a late landing is the onward ride: there is no transit worth relying on at that hour, and a taxi that will cross the border is hard to find. If your flight is due after 10:00 p.m., book the car before you fly; the chauffeur waits on the flight's actual landing time, not the printed one.

Documents for the crossing

Americans arriving at IAG and heading for an Ontario hotel are entering Canada. Canada's border agency recommends a valid passport for US citizens of any age; a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship or enhanced driver's licence can also show citizenship, with photo ID. US permanent residents should carry their green card. Our page on documents for entering Canada has the full list, including the rules for children.

Canadians coming home are returning by right, but you still declare what you bought. CBSA's personal exemptions, set out on its declaration page, depend on time away:

  • 24 hours or more: goods up to CA$200, not including alcohol or tobacco.
  • 48 hours or more: goods up to CA$800, which may include alcohol within limits, such as 1.5 L of wine or 1.14 L of spirits. The minimum age for the alcohol allowance in Ontario is 19.
  • Same-day trips: no personal exemption applies.

Keep receipts handy. A winter in Florida usually means more than a carry-on of purchases.

One item never crosses: cannabis. CBSA states that taking cannabis across the border in any form, without a Health Canada permit, remains a serious criminal offence, whatever the amount and whether or not it was legal where you bought it. That includes products bought legally in a US state.

Flying south from IAG: the departure side

The same route runs in reverse. Ontario residents heading to Florida often book us from home to IAG instead of leaving a car in the airport lot for months. Allow for the US-bound queue at the bridge on departure day, and remember that the US now asks more of long-stay visitors.

Since the rule was finalized in 2026, non-citizens aged 14 and over who stay in the United States for 30 days or longer must register with US Citizenship and Immigration Services, and USCIS specifically includes Canadian visitors who entered by land without an I-94. Snowbirds should read the USCIS registration page before a long winter away.

The honest verdict. If you are staying in Niagara Falls, New York, a taxi or rideshare from IAG is perfectly fine: the drive is short and no border is involved. If you are staying in Ontario, the airport's own warning settles it for rideshare, and a taxi is only useful if you confirm in advance that it will cross. A pre-booked chauffeur is the straightforward option for the Canadian side, especially with Florida-sized luggage, children, or a late arrival.

Who this suits

Individuals and couples returning from winter breaks make up much of our IAG work, and a sedan or a Mercedes-Benz E-Class is usually enough. Families visiting Niagara from Florida tend to need an SUV for bags and car seats; child, toddler and booster seats are options in the booker. Groups of golfers or friends of up to twelve can use an Executive Sprinter, as long as clubs and suitcases fit within the carry-on allowance, or two SUVs if they do not.

Frequently asked questions

What airlines fly into Niagara Falls International Airport?

In 2026 the airport lists only Allegiant Air, flying to Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Myrtle Beach, Orlando/Sanford and Tampa/St. Petersburg. Schedules can be seasonal, so check Allegiant for your travel date.

How far is Niagara Falls International Airport from the Canadian Falls?

About 14 km (9 mi) by road to the Fallsview area, usually 20 to 25 minutes plus the border queue at the Rainbow Bridge. Niagara-on-the-Lake is about 25 km (16 mi) via the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.

Can I take an Uber from IAG to Niagara Falls, Ontario?

The airport states that rideshare services are not allowed to cross the border. Rideshare works for hotels on the US side. For the Canadian side, book a cross-border car in advance.

Is there a taxi at Niagara Falls International Airport?

Yes, taxi service is listed on the airport's ground transportation page, along with rental cars. Taxis suit trips on the US side; confirm in advance if you need one to cross into Canada.

Do Canadians need to declare purchases when returning from Florida through IAG?

Yes. After 48 hours or more away, Canadian residents can bring back up to CA$800 in goods, including alcohol within limits, without duty. Same-day trips get no exemption. Declare everything at the bridge and keep receipts.

Should I park at IAG or get dropped off for a long trip?

The airport has its own parking lots, which suit short trips. For a winter away, many Ontario travellers prefer a drop-off and a pickup instead: no weeks of parking, no snow-covered car on the night you come home, and no driving after a long travel day. Book both legs at once in the booker.

Who pays the bridge toll?

You do not pay anything at the booth. The fare the booker shows for a cross-border trip is the fixed all-in fare for that pickup, drop-off and vehicle, so the crossing is already part of it.

Can you pick us up if our flight is delayed?

Yes. Airport pickups include flight tracking, so the chauffeur's arrival follows the actual landing time rather than the original schedule. Enter the correct flight number in the booker.
