Which golf courses are closest to the Niagara Falls hotels?

The Niagara Parks courses are closest, and NiagaraFallsLimo.net drives golfers to all of them: Legends on the Niagara (45 holes) is about 6.5 km (4 mi) south of the Fallsview hotels and Whirlpool Golf Course about 7 km north, each usually 10 – 15 minutes by car. Book online; the fare is fixed and shown before payment.

That short distance is why Niagara Falls works so well for golf trips. A group can play in the morning, be back at the hotel by mid-afternoon and see the Falls in the evening, without anyone loading clubs into a rental car. This guide walks through the main courses near the Falls, how to time the pickup against a tee time, and the part most golf groups get wrong: how many bags fit in which vehicle.

Legends on the Niagara: 45 holes south of Chippawa

Niagara Parks' Legends on the Niagara is the largest golf complex near the Falls, at 9561 Niagara River Parkway, south of the village of Chippawa. Niagara Parks lists three courses there:

  • Battlefield, an 18-hole course designed by Douglas Carrick, which hosted the 2004 BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open.
  • Ussher's Creek, an 18-hole course by Thomas McBroom.
  • Chippawa, a 9-hole executive course, beside a 360-degree driving range on 45 acres.

The season is listed as April to October, with spring and fall rates running into early November. Club rentals are available; Niagara Parks listed TaylorMade rentals at $60 for Battlefield and Ussher's Creek as of 2026, which is worth knowing for visitors who would rather not fly with clubs.

From the Fallsview hotels, Legends is about 6.5 km (4 mi), usually 10 – 15 minutes via the Niagara Parkway along the upper river. On a summer weekend the Parkway near the Falls is slower, so allow the full 15.

Whirlpool Golf Course: Stanley Thompson above the gorge

North of the Falls, Whirlpool Golf Course sits at 3351 Niagara River Parkway, along the top of the Niagara Gorge near the Whirlpool. Niagara Parks credits its design to Stanley Thompson, the Canadian architect behind many of the country's most admired courses, and describes it as one of Canada's most celebrated public courses.

It is about 7 km (4 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, usually 10 – 15 minutes, past Clifton Hill and the Whirlpool Aero Car. Groups staying on Falls Avenue or near Clifton Hill are a little closer. Season dates on the course page vary between the summary and the fee table, so check the current dates when you book.

Two more within reach

Thundering Waters Golf Club is on Marineland Parkway, close to the Fallsview district, about 4 km (3 mi) or under 10 minutes from the hotels. Course listings credit the layout to John Daly and give 2005 as its opening year. Check its current season and tee times directly with the club.

Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club is a nine-hole club on Front Street in Old Town, overlooking the mouth of the Niagara River at Lake Ontario, with a history that local sources trace back to 1875. It is about 24 km (15 mi) from the Fallsview hotels, usually 30 minutes. It pairs naturally with an afternoon in Niagara-on-the-Lake; our Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake route page explains the drive.

Golf on the American side

Groups staying on both sides of the river sometimes add a round in New York. Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, New York, lists the Hickory Stick Golf Club among its amenities. A round there means a border crossing in each direction. The chauffeur crosses with the group, but every golfer must carry their own valid documents, and nobody can promise how long the bridge will take, so leave a generous margin before the tee time. Our cross-border car service page explains how those days work.

Timing the pickup against a tee time

Tee times at the Niagara Parks courses are booked through the Niagara Parks tee-times page. Once you have yours, work backwards.

  1. Arrival target. Most golfers like to arrive well before the tee time to check in, warm up on the range and find their cart. Decide your own margin and stick to it.
  2. Drive time. Add 10 – 15 minutes for Legends or Whirlpool, 30 minutes for Niagara-on-the-Lake, more on summer weekends.
  3. Loading time. Four golfers with four bags at a hotel canopy take a few minutes to load. Ask the bell desk to bring the bags down before the car arrives.
  4. The return. Book the return for when you expect to finish, or keep the car "By the hour" if lunch at the clubhouse may stretch. Our hourly chauffeur page explains the hourly mode.

If the group plans a drink at the clubhouse after the round, that is exactly when a chauffeur earns its keep. There is no drinking in our vehicles, but the ride home means nobody has to drive after the nineteenth hole.

Clubs in the car: the bag maths

This is where golf trips go wrong. Golf bags are long and awkward, and travel cases from the airport are bigger still. Plan by bags, not by seats.

  • Standard Sedan (Cadillac XTS or similar): up to 3 passengers and 2 large bags. In practice, two golfers and two bags.
  • Mercedes-Benz E or S-Class: up to 2 passengers and 2 bags. Two golfers travelling light.
  • Standard SUV (Suburban or Yukon XL) or Executive Black SUV (Escalade or Navigator): up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. This is the golf vehicle: a foursome and four bags, with room for two suitcases on an airport run.
  • Executive Sprinter: up to 12 passengers, but carry-on bags only. It is not the right vehicle for golf bags.
  • Stretch limousines: minimal luggage. Not for clubs.

For a group of eight golfers with clubs, book two SUVs rather than one larger vehicle. Non-golfing partners travelling without clubs can ride in a Sprinter; the journal post on Sprinter group transfers explains its limits. They can travel together and split if part of the group plays a different course. Our golf transportation page has more on golf-specific bookings, and if your group is flying in with travel cases, mention them at booking so the right vehicle is confirmed.

A two-course golf weekend from Pearson

Here is a weekend shape that works for a foursome flying into Toronto.

  • Friday afternoon. Arrival at Toronto Pearson, met by an Executive Black SUV with room for four travel cases. Pearson to the Fallsview hotels is about 122 km (76 mi), usually 1 h 30 – 1 h 45 off-peak; allow 2 h or more on a summer Friday. Our Pearson airport page covers the terminals.
  • Saturday morning. SUV to Legends on the Niagara, about 15 minutes, for Battlefield. Return to the hotel after lunch.
  • Saturday evening. Walk to dinner from the Fallsview hotels or take a short ride.
  • Sunday morning. SUV to Whirlpool for an early round, then back to the hotel to collect luggage.
  • Sunday afternoon. SUV to Pearson with clubs and suitcases.

Corporate golf days follow the same pattern at a larger scale. The journal posts on incentive trips to Niagara Falls and planning a corporate retreat in Niagara-on-the-Lake cover the business side, and our corporations page explains how companies book.

The honest verdict. Two golfers renting clubs at Legends can happily take a taxi or a rideshare for a 15-minute ride, and there is no reason to book more. If your group has its own car and someone who will not drink, driving to Whirlpool is easy. A pre-booked SUV wins when there are four sets of clubs, travel cases from the airport, a fixed tee time to hit, or a clubhouse lunch that ends with a drink. Our guide on chauffeur vs taxi vs rideshare explains the trade-offs more broadly.

Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps

  1. Enter the hotel and the course. Use the course address, the date and the pickup time worked back from your tee time.
  2. Choose an SUV for clubs. The booker shows the fixed fare for each class; for a foursome with bags, choose a Standard or Executive Black SUV.
  3. Add golfers and bags, then pay. Note the number of golf bags and any travel cases, pay securely and keep the email confirmation. Start on the booker.

Reserve an SUV for your foursome

Who this suits

Individuals on a business trip who want a round between meetings get door-to-door transport with no rental car. Couples who golf together can use a sedan for two bags. Families with a golfer or two can split the day: clubs to Legends in the morning, everyone to Table Rock in the afternoon. Groups of four use one SUV; eight use two. Our groups page covers larger outings.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best golf course near Niagara Falls?

Legends on the Niagara and Whirlpool Golf Course, both run by Niagara Parks, are the best-known public courses near the Falls. Legends has 45 holes, including Battlefield, which hosted the 2004 Canadian Women's Open, and Whirlpool is a Stanley Thompson design above the Niagara Gorge. Both are 10 to 15 minutes from the Fallsview hotels.

Will four golf bags fit in your vehicle?

Yes, in a Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV, which carry up to 6 passengers and 6 bags. A Standard Sedan carries 2 large bags, so it suits two golfers. The Executive Sprinter carries carry-on bags only and is not suitable for golf bags.

How far is Legends on the Niagara from the Fallsview hotels?

About 6.5 km (4 mi), usually 10 to 15 minutes by car along the Niagara Parkway. It is at 9561 Niagara River Parkway, south of Chippawa. Allow the full 15 minutes on summer weekends, when traffic near the Falls is slower.

Can I rent clubs instead of bringing my own?

Yes, at the Niagara Parks courses. Niagara Parks listed TaylorMade club rentals at $60 for Battlefield and Ussher's Creek, and at Whirlpool, as of 2026. Renting clubs means two golfers can travel in a sedan or even a taxi instead of an SUV.

Can the chauffeur wait during our round?

Yes, with a "By the hour" booking, though a round takes several hours, so most groups book a drop-off and a separate return for their expected finish time instead. If lunch afterwards may run long, the hourly mode keeps the vehicle with you.

Can we have a drink in the car after the round?

No. There is no drinking in our vehicles; Niagara Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law forbids a licensed driver from permitting alcohol in the vehicle. Enjoy the drink in the clubhouse, then ride back to the hotel without anyone needing to drive.

When is the golf season in Niagara?

Niagara Parks lists Legends on the Niagara as seasonal from April to October, with spring and fall rates running into early November. Whirlpool's page shows play into the autumn as well. Check the course pages for current dates before booking a trip outside the summer months.

Can you collect our golf group from Buffalo airport?

Yes. The drive from Buffalo Niagara International is roughly 42 km (26 mi), around three-quarters of an hour plus an unpredictable wait at the bridge. Choose an SUV if the group is bringing clubs, mention the travel cases at booking, and make sure every golfer carries their own documents for entering Canada.
