Most Niagara wine days point east, toward the busy tasting rooms of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Jordan Village points the other way. It is a hamlet in the Town of Lincoln, on the edge of the Twenty Valley, where the Niagara Escarpment folds down toward Lake Ontario and Twenty Mile Creek has cut a green gorge through the limestone. The main street is short enough to walk end to end in a few minutes. On it you will find an inn, a spa in a heritage building, a winery cellar and a handful of shops and cafés.
For couples, that compact layout is the appeal. You arrive, you stop moving, and the day happens within a few hundred metres. The only part that needs planning is getting there and getting back, because the second glass of Riesling and the drive home do not belong in the same afternoon. NiagaraFallsLimo.net books Jordan Village as a point-to-point ride, a return trip or an hourly charter from your hotel in Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake or Toronto.
How far is Jordan Village from Niagara Falls and Toronto?
Jordan Village is about 33 km (21 mi) west of the Fallsview hotels, usually 30 to 40 minutes via the QEW; from downtown Toronto it is about 104 km (64 mi), roughly 1 h 20 off-peak. NiagaraFallsLimo.net shows a fixed fare for your exact pickup, stops and vehicle in the online booker before you pay.
Those are no-traffic routing times, so treat them as the floor; a summer Saturday on the QEW adds plenty. The legs that matter:
| Leg | Distance | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| Fallsview hotels to Jordan Village | about 33 km (21 mi) | 30 – 40 min |
| Niagara-on-the-Lake (Queen Street) to Jordan | about 32 km (20 mi) | 35 – 45 min |
| Downtown Toronto (Union Station) to Jordan | about 104 km (64 mi) | 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 |
| Toronto Pearson to Jordan | about 96 km (60 mi) | 1 h 20 – 1 h 40 |
| Downtown Hamilton to Jordan | about 49 km (31 mi) | 45 – 55 min |
| Jordan Village to Ball's Falls | about 3 km (2 mi) | 5 min |
| Jordan Village to Flat Rock Cellars | about 4 km (3 mi) | 8 – 10 min |
What is actually on the main street
Jordan is small, so it is worth knowing exactly what sits where before you set the itinerary.
- Inn On The Twenty is a 26-suite boutique hotel at 3845 Main Street, run by Vintage Hotels (the same group behind the Prince of Wales and Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake). Its restaurant is a farm-to-table dining room that looks out over the Twenty Valley, and its own description puts the village on the Niagara Escarpment with about 40 vineyards around it. The Inn On The Twenty page lists the restaurant, the suites and Spa On The Twenty, which occupies a century-old heritage building next door.
- Cave Spring has its cellars and tasting room at 3836 Main Street, directly across the road from the inn. The vineyard itself is farther west, on Cave Spring Road in Beamsville, so the Jordan building is where you taste, not where the vines grow. Check current tasting times on Cave Spring's site.
- Jordan House Tavern, also run by the inn, is a more casual room about a five-minute walk away if the dining room feels like too much for lunch.
That is the core of a Jordan day. Everything else is a short hop by car.
Twenty Valley trails: Ball's Falls and the Bruce Trail
The "trails" part of a Jordan day usually means Ball's Falls Conservation Area, run by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority at 3292 Sixth Avenue, about 3 km from the main street. Twenty Mile Creek drops over two falls here. The upper falls plunges over the limestone lip of the escarpment; the lower falls sits closer to the heritage buildings. Because the creek is rain-fed, the falls can be a roar in April and a trickle in a dry August, so manage expectations if you visit late in summer.
The conservation area also keeps a cluster of nineteenth-century buildings from the old Ball family settlement: the family home, a working flour mill, a lime kiln, a church, a blacksmith shop, a carriage shed and a pioneer log cabin. The Town of Lincoln recognized the site as a heritage property in July 2024.
For walking, the Cataract Trail follows the creek and gives easy access to the Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath, which runs along the escarpment through the area. The Switch Back Trail connects the parking lot to the Cataract Trail.
Practical notes from the NPCA's Ball's Falls page:
- The conservation area lists daily hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; the Centre for Conservation keeps shorter hours.
- Day-use passes can be reserved online in advance, and the NPCA prices entry per vehicle. As of 2026 the posted vehicle-and-driver rate is $15.00, with $5.00 per additional adult and a $30.00 maximum per car, HST included.
- Wear real shoes; the gorge trails are rocky.
Your chauffeur drops you at the parking area and waits or returns at an agreed time.
Shaping the day: three versions that work
Three or four stops is plenty; six is a race. Each outline below assumes a morning pickup from a Fallsview or Clifton Hill hotel.
The inn-and-tasting day (about five hours). Leave the Falls around 10:30. Walk Ball's Falls before the midday crowds, then a tasting at Cave Spring on Main Street. Lunch at the inn's restaurant, an hour in the shops, and a second tasting at Flat Rock Cellars at 2727 Seventh Avenue, a few minutes up onto the bench. Back at the hotel by late afternoon.
The spa day (about six hours). A treatment at Spa On The Twenty in late morning, lunch, then one unhurried tasting across the street. This is the version for anniversaries; the anniversary and proposal service page covers the extras that can be added in the booker.
The bench loop (about seven hours). Jordan as the lunch stop on a longer day that also covers the Beamsville Bench to the west and the Twenty Mile Bench above the village. Our Beamsville Bench guide and the companion piece on the Twenty Mile Bench and Jordan go deeper on which wineries to pair.
For any of these, the hourly chauffeur service is usually the simplest booking: the car and driver are yours for a block of time and you can change the order on the day.
Why Jordan needs a driver more than most of Niagara
Niagara-on-the-Lake has the a WEGO shuttle link from the Falls and dozens of wineries packed close together. Jordan has none of that density. The wineries of the Twenty Valley sit on rural roads, often up the escarpment slope, several kilometres apart. Public transit does not stitch them together in any useful way for a visitor, and taxis are not waiting in the village.
There is also the law. Under Ontario's Liquor Licence and Control Act a moving vehicle may not carry open liquor, and the Region's vehicle-for-hire by-law bars a licensed driver from allowing passengers to drink. So the rule in our vehicles is simple: no drinking on board, and the chauffeur never drinks. The point of booking a driver for a wine day is that nobody in your party has to choose between tasting and driving. If you buy bottles, they ride in the trunk, sealed. More on that trade-off in the designated-driver problem.
Booking it with NiagaraFallsLimo.net in 3 steps
- Tell the booker where and when. Pickup at your hotel, then add Jordan Village (3845 Main Street works as the address), Ball's Falls or a winery as stops. For a flexible day, choose "By the hour" instead of point to point.
- Pick a vehicle. For two, a Standard Sedan or a Mercedes-Benz E / S-Class is plenty. For four to six friends, a Standard SUV or Executive Black SUV keeps everyone together with room for bought bottles. Each class shows its fixed fare.
- Add details and pay. Number of passengers, any child seats, a note about the spa booking time, then pay securely. Confirmation arrives by email.
The how to book a limo guide walks through the booker screen by screen if it is your first time.
Chauffeur vs rideshare vs taxi for this trip
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) | 30 – 40 min out; return pickup in Jordan can be slow or unavailable | Surge pricing at busy times | Fine for day bags | A single one-way hop when you will sleep in Jordan |
| Taxi | Similar drive; must be called from Niagara Falls or St. Catharines | Metered, plus waiting time | Fine for day bags | One-way transfers, not winery hopping |
| Public transit | Not practical for winery-to-winery days | Regional fares | Day bags only | Locals who know the routes |
| Driving yourself | 30 – 40 min | Fuel only | Plenty | Groups where one person truly will not taste |
| Organized shared tour | Fixed schedule, other guests | Per-person ticket | Limited | Solo travellers who want company |
| Private chauffeur | 30 – 40 min, then the car moves when you do | Fixed fare via booker | Bottles in the trunk | Couples and small groups tasting at three or more stops |
The honest verdict: if you are staying overnight at Inn On The Twenty and only need to get there, a one-way rideshare or taxi is perfectly reasonable, and you can walk everywhere once you arrive. The chauffeur wins as soon as the day involves Ball's Falls plus two or more wineries, because the stops are spread out and a return ride from a country road is the part that falls apart. Who a Jordan day suits
Couples are the natural fit: a quiet tasting, a long lunch and a spa slot, with none of the bus-tour bustle of busier wine towns. Individuals travelling alone often use Jordan as a calmer alternative to a shared tour, booking a sedan for four hours. Families with older children can make Ball's Falls the centrepiece, since the heritage buildings and creek walk keep teenagers interested while the adults fit in one tasting. Groups of up to six travel well in an SUV; larger groups should check spa and restaurant capacity before booking a Sprinter, because the village rooms are small. For more on planning for two, see the page for couples.
Seasons in the Twenty Valley
Spring brings Ball's Falls at its fullest and quiet tasting rooms. Summer weekends are the busiest, so book the inn's restaurant ahead. September and October are the most photogenic weeks, with the vineyards turning. Winter means short days, cosy tasting rooms and icewine season after the first deep freeze. The Twenty Valley and Beamsville Bench hub covers the area's wine styles.
If you want to compare Jordan with the east end of the region, the Niagara wine tour limo service page lays out how full-day charters work across both. The wider wine country hub links every sub-region.
Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%.
Frequently asked questions
Where is Jordan Village in Niagara?
Jordan Village is a hamlet in the Town of Lincoln, in the Twenty Valley west of St. Catharines, on the Niagara Escarpment above Twenty Mile Creek. It is about 33 km (21 mi) from the Fallsview hotels in Niagara Falls and about 32 km from Niagara-on-the-Lake's Queen Street, so it fits easily into a day trip from either base.
Can you walk between wineries in Jordan Village?
Only partly. Cave Spring's tasting room is on Main Street, directly across from Inn On The Twenty, so that pair is a walk. Most other Twenty Valley wineries, including Flat Rock Cellars about 4 km away, sit on rural roads up the escarpment. You will need a car for anything beyond the main street, which is why a driver makes sense on tasting days.
How long should a Jordan Village day trip be?
Five to six hours from a Niagara Falls hotel covers Ball's Falls, two tastings and a sit-down lunch without rushing. Add an hour for a spa treatment, or two hours if you want to fold in a few Beamsville Bench wineries. Booking by the hour keeps the timing flexible on the day.
Is Ball's Falls worth a stop?
Yes, if the creek is running. The upper falls drops over the escarpment edge and the heritage buildings, including a working flour mill, make it more than a viewpoint. The falls are rain-fed, so spring is fullest. The NPCA charges a per-vehicle day-use fee and allows advance reservations online.
Can we drink wine in the car between wineries?
No. Ontario's liquor law does not permit open alcohol in a moving vehicle, and Niagara Region's by-law forbids a licensed driver to allow drinking in the car. Bottles you buy travel sealed in the trunk. If you are celebrating, the booker can add a sealed bottle for you to carry home unopened.
How much does a chauffeured Jordan day cost?
Three things set it: the vehicle class, the hours you book and your starting point. The online booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, stops and vehicle before you pay, with no meter running and no surge.
Can we start in Toronto and end in Niagara Falls?
Yes. Many couples book a one-way day: Toronto pickup in the morning, Jordan for lunch and tastings, then drop-off at their Niagara Falls hotel in the evening. Jordan sits most of the way along the QEW from Toronto to the Falls, so it is barely a detour.
